Prayers for Joy

Lord Jesus, keep me abiding in you so that your joy may be in me and that my joy may be full. (John 15:11)

True Praise and Worship

There is a lot of emphasis in churches today on praise and worship. The practical understanding that many people have of this subject is that praise and worship is the first part of a church service. We “warm people up” with some fast songs (praise) and then we sing some mellow songs of adoration.

Doing all this is fine but the 30 minutes or so usually allocated to this does not constitute a lifestyle of praise, nor a lifestyle of worship. Being a true worshiper of God is a lot more than this.

Dead Traditions that hinder us

While God has some traditions for the church that Paul taught, according to 2 Thessalonians 3:6, there are MANY traditions in the way most churches operate and do things that actually hinder God’s purposes.

If you read something in the New Testament and it contradicts what you think you know about the way God’s people are supposed to operate, you can be sure that your thinking has been influenced by dead tradition.

What does God want from us? In a word, LOVE. He wants our hearts. He wants us to love Him with all our hearts. This means, that we will give him our total focus.

Preaching the Full Gospel Does Minister the Power of God – part 1

Paul says in Romans 1:16 (a):

“I’m not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of every one who believes: …”

Its a common mistake to think that after someone preaches the gospel, God sends the power. But the Bible says that the gospel “is the power of God”. If someone gives you a machine gun, you need to be trained before you can handle it, don’t you? But our wonderful God told you on the day you were saved: “I’ll give you my power to handle!”

What is that power?

False Teachers and Teachings

“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” (Jude 3)

Like Jude, the brother of the Lord, I prefer to emphasize the positive truths of the Word of God, but the fact is that we are also told to CONTEND earnestly for the FAITH (Jude 3) WARN people and REBUKE ERROR (2 Timothy 3:16).

Praise is very important to God

If you don’t praise God the blessing in your life will be limited.

One of the strongest expressions of faith in God is a life of praise. Praise in this case means saying or singing something good about the character of God – for example, saying or singing, “The LORD is good, and his mercy endures forever.” “God alone is wise”, “All his ways are just”.

It is the work of Satan to attack the character of God in our minds. Satan will point to the terrible results of the fall of man for proof that God is not good.

Praise and Worship

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” (John 4:23)

God is seeking something. The Bible says in another place that the eyes of the Lord run over the earth, looking for someone whose heart is completely devoted to Him. God wants to work strongly in that man or woman’s life. And God is seeking worshipers. Are they so hard to find? Men and women everywhere are worshiping. There are billions of religious people on the earth.

"And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life
was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." (Genesis 2:9).
