Theology of ‘RAPTURE’

I have searched the Holy Bible, but I am not able to find the word “RAPTURE”. There is the word “RESURRECTION”. According to me, I consider ‘rapture’ and ‘resurrection’ in totally different view. I wonder, who brought the theology of rapture? Also it is a hot topic when we are approaching the end times. Rapture is a good news for believers as they think they won’t have to suffer till the last day, but does it align with the words in Bible where we see that believers need to endure till the need of times.

There is some good discussions on this website itself. It will be better to check through it before proceeding ahead.

To be completely honest, I don’t believe in the Rapture at all. I think we’re going to go through the Tribulation. Tribulation is not a bad thing! All the prophets wished to go through the Tribulation. There’s nothing to be scared of; if God’s with us, who can be against us? We don’t have to prepare for anything, God will feed us and take care of us like He did with Elijah. 1 Thess 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. The word air in the Greek means “breath of life”. I think that’s when we change into our spiritual bodies. Psalms 68:34 Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds. Clouds is used to describe the Lord’s Power. 1 Cor 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. That’s just what I see.

    • Timothy Luke says:
Dan 7:19-27 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Seems pretty clear that the saints are to be tested, tried and found true before our Lord comes. I see what you see.

      Blessings and Peace,
      Timothy

There is an event spoken of in the Bible called the “catching away”. I can’t be bothered getting into the whole it can’t exist becuase the Word Rapture is not in the Bible. However the event does and you need to do your homework and read your Bible to find where it is recorded.

Long before I became a Born Again Christian. My family who were uneducated Southern European Migrants (barely could read or write), they knew only what was taught to them verbally about Bible Events. My Grandparents (long passed away now) & their brothers and sisters who were born at the beginning of the last century used to re-tell to the grandchildren what was told to them. One of the Biblical Events they would often tell us about was this “catching away”. They did not know of the Word Rapture as English was not their Native Language.

When I became a “Born Again” or a “Saved through Christ Believer” I began to read the Bible and I have in my own reading found verses that backed up this event. My hope is that it will happen in my lifetime and prior to the Tribulation.

Accepting or rejecting the Rapture event doesn’t make you less of a Christian. For we are only forgiven for our Sins through repentance and the Blood of Christ. No matter what how the future events pan out we must be saved and not willing to give up that salvation no matter what.

I often recall these words from Revelation.

    REV 12:11 They overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb
    and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
    as to shrink from death.

May we all be found to be strong in our faith no matter what we have to face in these last days.

Praying for the Holy Spirit to reveal this teaching to you Anurekha.

I think that the greatest thing that has ever come to the Church is a lack of persecution. Whenever that comes, the Church is taken into lies. The fact is that it shouldn’t matter when the rapture is, it shouldn’t matter when we must leave this wretched place.

This is one doctrine that I can truly agree to disagree with whoever, because in my opinion, persecution for Christ is a blessing, 1 Peter 4, and I will be home eventually.

I was taught in the local assembly that pre-trib is what’s going to happen. After some time with the Lord and His Book, I am now more believing in a Post Tribulation rapture. I also think that Pre Trib is kind of dangerous because it makes believers “feel so secure” that they may not make necessary preparations for the last days because they believe that they will be snatched before it. I think believing in the post trib theory is safer and makes me more secured in the Lord. I am still in the same local assembly. But I teach others about Post Trib.

    • Spot on

The fight is between the way of the flesh and the way of the Spirit. The flesh seeks out comfort and security, the Spirit seeks out the path of Jesus- and the path of Jesus is rejection and persecution.

Each believer needs ask themselves “what do I truly desire? Christ promised to meet the desires of our hearts (those that bring glory to Christ)? If we are baptized in the Spirit, the Spirit pushes us in one direction only- this has to be to minister effectively for Christ- to preach and teach the matters of the Gospel!

We can’t preach and teach the Gospel if our first focus is protecting our flesh and “escaping” rejection, persecution and the likes. It is our duty to minister, preach, evangelize, heal the sick, cast out demons- stamp on Satan’s scorpions whenever they cross our path.

Those who seek to minster for their Lord have no time with speculative questions about when the rapture will take place. Why? because if we are effective in our ministry, we expect to be attacked, abused and rejected- surely we will see tribulation- and if we don’t we should examine our ministry.

      ————————-

You will know them by their fruit! The natural man is driven towards “schemes” and quickly these schemes produce an income stream, books, media appearances….. Flee from schemes and those who teach schemes.

Carry on the good work, do it quietly and with respect, not engaging in argument with your elders on doctrine but rather encouraging those about you to focus on serving Christ with zeal and to walk in His Peace which is our security preserving our spiritual man from the effects of persecution when it crosses our path.

      —————–
      go for it!

It is an irony to me that in America we have such a big fuss about ‘pre’ trib. We have lived an easy life and we do not wish to picture it otherwise, however…

Christians are in holding cells as you read this. It is below freezing for some and they have no clothes to speak of. They will be hauled out of their cell at 2 or 3 in the morning and beaten, prodded, shocked, and have other torments and mockings hurled at them. They will eat food contaminated with dung and urine. Tell them the Lord is coming before the tribulation!!

Rapture? The word came about from the “snatching” of the saints in the NT (John 14:1-3) to meet the Lord in the air. Be sure to have on your Air Jordans.

My suggestion is to google the word rapture and read all the pro and con websites. They’re are plenty. This subject has been beat to death.

Most charismatics have been spoon fed the pre-trib theory because that is what their pastor got from people like Hal Lindsey, Jack Van Impe and other now known TV eschatologists.

Me? Well….I’m sorta 49% pre and 51% post. Call me chicken little on this one. I think the Chancellor of my law school Pat Robertson was mid-trib. Hmmm?

I think the scripture pre-tribbers push is the promise that we would not be here for the “terrible day of the Lord” or something like that. I forget. My problem with this is there are numerous scriptures of christians being persecuted and so on in the end times. This sounds more post-trib to me, however some echatologists teach a double rapture. The first, being before the tribulation starts for those christians who were living for the Lord and praying and anticipating His return. The second rapture, being at the end of the tribulation for those who were backslidden, not living right. They will be the ones beheaded for not taking the mark of the beast as well as all those sinners who repent and accept the Lord and refuse the mark as well. Then Armageddon occurs.

I admit……I am not well versed on this topic mostly because I’ve decided to prepare for the post trib to be correct and if I’m wrong then that will be a bonus! Praise God!

Maybe a good topic of discussion is “How to prepare for the tribulation”?
