1 Corinthians 14:1 tells us to literally burn with desire for spiritual gifts. Are you burning with desire for these things? Am I?
Sorry, but if your emotions are not involved in this quest, you are not fulfilling this Word yet.
We need to crave to know God, to burn with desire to know His voice, to WANT the supernatural revelations from God.
The very passage some try to use to demonstrate that “tongues have ceased” is one passage that proves that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today.
I contend that there is NOTHING in the New Testament that says or even implies that God will withdraw the supernatural spiritual gifts from the church. Neither did the Holy Spirit promise to stop communicating with people as He did in Bible days.
I intend to show from the Sciptures that tongues, prophecy and words of knowledge will continue until Jesus comes back and we see Him face to face. (1 Corinthians 13:8-12).
What is Speaking in Tongues
Speaking in tongues, for the Christian, is a way of allowing the regenerated human spirit to pray to God or to praise God, or to speak a message from God, without the interference or limitations of the human mind. Speaking in tongues actually happens when a person allows syllables to flow out of their mouth without consciously controlling them. When a Christian is empowered by the Holy Spirit in this, it is a powerful spiritual practice.
We need to learn to hear God's voice better. If it is true that God has a plan for our lives, if it is true that God spoke to people in the times of the Bible, if it is true that the Holy Spirit lives within us, then surely it ought to be normal for us to know things by the Spirit of God concerning what the specific will of God is for our lives.
In this short article the case is made that every Christian is called at some level to operate in the ministry of helps. Let us not be high-minded. Whether we are also called to be apostles, or teachers, or workers of miracles, the Bible nowhere says, “Do all have the ministry of helps?
