Think Like God, Act like God – part 2

As you establish your life with God in prayer and meditate upon His Word, you spirit will start to come alive, or be quickened to God’s Word. As you go about your day, His Word will come to your mind as you encounter different situations. I use these opportunities to pray the Word. In this way we become aligned with God and we start to think like God and talk like God.

What IS the grace of God?

Most of us who have grown up in evangelical churches have heard the definition of “grace” given as follows: “it is the unmerited favor of God”. For many it is the thing which means we can keep on sinning wilfully and expect to enter heaven – because we are under grace, see. Not that all who believe this WANT to keep sinning deliberately, its just that this idea of grace makes them feel safe if they do choose to live this way.

Proverbs 12 Confessions

I love discipline and instruction, and I love knowledge. I do not hate correction – I appreciate it. If I hated correction I would be like a brute animal. Pr 12.1

I choose to be good – and receive grace from God. I reject wicked devices. These bring the condemnation of the Lord. Pr 12.2

I put down roots in the Lord that cannot be moved. I reject wicked ways, by which I may never be established in righteousness or truth or anything worthwhile. Pr 12.3

My wife will not cause me shame and be as rottenness in my bones. She is a virtuous woman.

Prayers about Speech

Father, I pray that I speak evil of no man. (Tit. 3:2)

Father, I pray that I restrain my lips. Pr 10.19

Proverbs 11 Prayers and Confessions

Lord, you declare that false balances and unjust weights are an abomination to yourself. So, I solemnly commit to do business without cheating or deceiving others, or representing things to be other than the way they really are. I pray you will find delight in the way I do business, in Jesus’ name, Amen. (vs 1)

Lord, open my eyes to the value of lowliness, for “with the lowly is wisdom”. Give me this wisdom. At the same time, I reject the coming of pride, which brings shame. (vs 2)

Bible-based Prayers for Spiritual Sight

(These prayers can easily be modified on the fly to be a prayer for a loved one or a group of people, as the need requires).

Lord, you declared that you came to proclaim recovery of sight to the blind. (Luke 4:18). Proclaim recovery of sight to MY (inner) eyes, the eyes of my heart!

You sent Paul your servant to “to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” (Acts 26:18).

What shall we make of Matthew 7:21-23

One of the most interesting and controversial passages anywhere in the
Bible comes straight out of the mouth of Jesus Christ, and is recorded
for us in Matthew 7:21-23:

Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter
the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied
in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your
name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart
from Me, you who practice lawlessness!
