On April 3, 2011, I was attending a 3-day Christian retreat called the Walk to Emmaus with my dad and three of my sons. I gave a talk Saturday afternoon about Christian action and one of the statements I made that day was, “God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called”. While speaking those words, I had no idea God was going to put that theory to the test with me the following day. On Sunday morning, I woke up with Him speaking to me with a very clear message.
Growing up in a Christian family, i was born in faith. I knew how to Love God, to hope for the better, and to place all of my life in the word of our Lord. Like every human being, i grew up. I learned how to pray, how to talk to God , and eventually, how to preach the word to others. I’ve preached about our faithful Savior to most of my friends, and when i saw a glimpse of hope, i would help them to be Christians. I wanted every human being out there; every person; every mother,daughter,father,son,uncle,etc. to feel the Love, and encouragement,i had received all of my life from Christ.
My pastor said in his sermon last Sunday, “If you think you’re doing OK, take some time to evaluate…you probably aren’t.” This is the absolute truth. Last year my wife thought we were doing just fine. We thought we were “good” people. Productive members of society. We thought we were entitled to certain things. Truth is, we weren’t so good. We were leading lives that couldn’t be pleasing to God at all. Not only were we not the people we thought we were, we were, and are, completely undeserving of God’s grace and redemption found through Christ…but we were offered that gift anyway.
I don`t know how this is going to work seeing I am using a cell phone to write this. The first thing I want toake note of, is I believe there are different Gift of the Spirit than mention in I Cor. They might be categories that all the gifts can fall under. The Lord had me to grow up in a place that I got to know Him and not only Him but evil spirts. I remember when I was a kid I could out in the field and it would be hot, but when I walk into a certain spot in the field my teeth would start to chatter because it was really cold in that on spot.
Hey, i am Hannah and i just want to say somethings about me. I love going to church, i look forward to it every week. I used to believe God left me..I used to believe i could never be good. I went to church camp this past summer and i think it changed my life. I now believe in God again, and know he is always there. I do everything for God now, i have a positive attitude and always try to look for the bright side in things. I try to get my friends to believe but they still dont. I will never change back and i love who i am now! I used to cut myself, i thought pain was the only way out…
