Is it possible for someone to earn salvation without Christ ?

Sorry, the answer for my question could be very simple but I need to ask things because I want to learn as much as I can from other who have more knowledge than me. Okay this issue is come up in some Indonesian forum I read just recently. It seems that there are opinion saying that for those who are not Christian there are still chances to be saved. In regard that all religion teach about righteousness, justice, kindness and love toward other.

And in the Romans St. Paul said that :

13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

So according to that, if one do live doing things contained in the law they will be considered as righteous by God. I can say that without Jesus I can’t live righteously, because I know it, I mean I know I can’t. I have lived without Him and all I can do is sin. Only with Jesus then I can win over my sin.

But just because I can’t doesn’t mean no one can’t. So my testimony kind of nullified at this point.

No, Salvation is freely given to those who believe in Christ, we can’t have salvation without Christ, what He did on the cross offered us that salvation, so no

John 14:6 no one comes to the Father, there are many scriptures that will lead me to believe that except through Jesus no one, no one, comes to the father. So can we earn salvation I believe not. Salvation is a gift of God

Ephesians 2:8-9- “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Imagine that you are hungry and have in your hand a piece of fruit. Yet the fruit has a worm, or a bruise. Did that portion of the fruit without the worm or bruise do anything to earn salvation? The good news of Christ is not that of where salvation can be bought or earned, it is liberation from the fear of punishment after death. It is freely given to whomever has ears to hear. Salvation is liberation from our superstitions. It is freedom to love ones neighbor and do good deeds. It is freedom from the bondage of sin. What is sin? Sin is that which leads to nothingness. Have you a folly which profits you nothing? The scriptures tell us that God came from a place of nothingness. He no longer resides in nothingness and proclaims, “I am.” Set your goals to a path which leads to substance and not nothingness. Rejoice in all things and enjoy that which is and ever shall be. This is salvation. How can that be earned?

Concerning our righteousness….We can try all the time to be righteous but our righteousness is as of filthy rags Isaiah 64:6 we are all like an unclean thing and all our righteousness are like filthy rags…Who is this talking about? The key word is ALL…There are people who have done fantastic things for the Kingdom of God but their righteousness is still like filthy rags…There is only One that is righteous and that is the Lord Jesus Christ…He is the One who provides us with salvation and is known as the Author of Eternal Salvation as well as the Righteous Judge and Righteous Servant…There is no way we can obtain forgiveness of sins and salvation with the end result of heaven, where we receive eternal life and are forevermore in the very presence of our heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ, except through His redeeming Blood..Jesus said “I Am the Way and the Truth and the Life ..No one comes to the Father except through Me” …John 14:6

  5. All have sinned, including Gentiles. When Gentiles do the right thing, they are not sinning, but all of them have violated their own consciences and the law written on their hearts as well.

Therefore all are in need of salvation. Its just that the judgment on those who don’t have the written law will not be as rigorous – yet it will still be for condemnation for the guilt incurred through sin.

There is only one adequate sacrifice for sin – Jesus Christ. All must hear of this. We cannot delay as others have done – we should have let the world know centuries ago. No one is good enough for God without Christ. Every person broke the law on their hearts. That is why we need to embrace our Saviour and then tell others about him.

Someone who is really searching for truth will find it. The fact is, of the unreached peoples, most are not searching for truth. They are living in the sins they know.
