Faith in the Name of Jesus brings power to our prayers. Learn how to pray with authority using Jesus’ Name in an article and short online teaching movie.
Jack Hayford states, "Power is the KEY to our victory, and prayer is the PATHWAY to power".
Praying in the Name of Jesus brings power to our prayers because:
1. To pray in the NAME OF JESUS is to pray with the mind of Christ.
John 15:4-7 says, "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit: for apart from Me you can do nothing. If you abide in Me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done unto you."
TO PRAY WITH THE MIND OF CHRIST, THE PRAY-ER MUST THINK LIKE CHRIST
This can only be done as we abide (`remain'.) in Him through prayer and the study of God's Word. Then, with the established relationship and right thinking, our prayers WILL BE ANSWERED.
2. To pray in the NAME OF JESUS is the key to all God's power.
Note how much the Bible says on this subject:
"And I will do whatever you ask IN MY NAME, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father". John 14:13.
God actually gets glory out of answering our prayers.
"You may ask me anything IN MY NAME, and I will do it.” John 14:14.
"You did not choose me, but I chose you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask IN MY NAME.” John 15:16.
"I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask IN MY NAME.” John 16:23
It is clear, as we study Scripture that JESUS' NAME IS THE KEY TO GOD'S POWER. Only as we learn to pray in HIS NAME can we really tap the power and resources of God.
For, `The name of a person is himself or his character.' (Young)
3. To pray in the NAME OF JESUS is the Christian's power of attorney.
The power of Attorney means:- the legal or written authority to transact business for another.
To pray in JESUS' NAME means:- to have the right to use HIS NAME in transacting all His spiritual business.
It is, as someone suggested, asking Jesus to stand up and speak on behalf of our prayer and to serve as an advocate who sponsors our prayer, as it arrives at the courts of Heaven.
A full seven times in the Gospels, Jesus gives us this legal right to use His Name. Let us not decline the privilege.
4. To pray in JESUS NAME is an attitude of heart not merely an expression.
To arbitrarily end a prayer with a quick expression, `IN JESUS NAME, AMEN' is a far cry from truly praying in the Master's Name.
Acts 3:6 says, “Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
Acts 3:16 goes onto say, "By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.”
Satan will only flee when resisted by a believer, who knows his place and knows what the NAME OF JESUS means.
In Acts 19:13 we read that there were seven men who tried to cast a demon out of a man, but they did not know Jesus personally.
"The evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Acts 19:15.
Now that simply reveals to us, that Satan is only fearful of the man or woman who KNOWS THE NAME OF JESUS.
It is imperative that we be awakened spiritually to the war that we are in and to see the greatness of God's power in us and through us by USING HIS NAME.
To pray IN JESUS NAME is:-
1. To apply our God-given relationship.
2. T pray with our God-given authority and privilege.
3. To release the will of God, by the power of God.
