Facts about Christmas and the birth of Jesus

I was thinking since Christmas is right around the corner and the day is all because of the birth of our Savior Jesus, that maybe we could share what Jesus means to us and any facts you could share like why do we celebrate it on December 25th5th why do we decorate a tree and things like that. As for me, Jesus is my All in All. Without Him im lost.He is the reason I live. ! Praise His glorious awesome name!. Blessings to all of you. And thank you Michael for a great site!

What do YOU think?

  1. Roadrunner says:

Hollyroller, you are taking Jesus’s words of straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel completely out of context. If you read a bit more, what he is talking about is nothing to do with the issue of paganism in a “christianised” form being acceptable and anyone who says otherwise is swallowing a camel.
If anything this supports my argument, “and have omitted the weightier matters of the law”.
    Matthew 23:23 – 25:
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the out side of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.”
To really get the grasp of the meaning of Matthew 23:24, I think you need to read the whole chapter, and not just keep throwing a verse at me, out of context. I don’t mind being corrected, because the Bible teaches that Christians should correct each other.

If someone is going to correct me though, it will have to be through the word of God, (and not taken out of context either!), not opinions, or vain sentimental value, I don’t care what people think of me, I only care what God thinks. And nowhere in the Bible have I found any scripture where God encourages paganism in any form! In fact I found the opposite, thank you Tim, your right I should have written out Deuteronomy 12: 29 to 32. You missed out 32 though, which I think is relevant, which reads:

“What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.”
(this also makes me think of Matt 23:23)
The catholic man who decided to introduce pagan traditions into something Christians should do, sinned by going against this command.

News flash people, God does not want HIS people taking part in paganism, in any shape or form. If you were God would you want that?!

And surely if Satan was behind me choosing not to partake in christmas, that would just not make any sense at all! Satan would want me to do pagan things. My question is, is Satan for paganism or against it?? Because the answer cannot be both!
Besides my decision is based on the truth of Gods word and facts on paganism and history. Anything Satan is behind is based on lies, because he is the father of lies.
Believing that christmas is about Jesus is a lie, you do not have to look that hard to see the pagan roots of it, although many so called Christians have lost their love of truth, they care more about worldly things like christmas presents (And all worldly things are soon to pass away). The Bible also teaches us that as Christians we are not to love the world or the things in it, because if we do, the love of the Father is not in us.

I would like to finish my comment on a positive yet relevant note:
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”
    Romans 12:2

  2. Roadrunner says:

I am not part of a cult, and a lot of things that J.W’s believe and practice are wrong and not in line with the word of God. I would just like to ask you why you have a tree in your house? and what it has to do with Jesus? (the practice of pagans bringing trees into their homes goes way back before Jesus was even born, read Jeremiah 10, and also I cannot emphasise Deuteronomy 12:29-32 enough!). Okay lets put it another way, if I said I had a budda statue in my living room for an ornament, a decoration, what would be your advice to me? would that spiritually be ok for me to allow that to be in my home, would it not be a sin to teach my children to do the same? What fellowship can a christian have with idols? light with dark? I am not trying to be cruel or unnessasarily extreme, I am genuinely concerned for you. I am asking you if it is right in the sight of the Lord to take part in something that is pagan and teach your children to do the same, plastering Jesus name all over it.

Honestly though research it, where does christmas come from? this is what I did and I found the truth, from facts, not a cult! I follow Jesus all the way down the narrow path. I make no compromises to include paganism, and I would advise anyone else the same.

    • Holyroller_11 says:

as I said you strain at the knat and swallow the camel, its my house and my tree, your letting satan tell you what to do in your own house and will confuse your kids and cause them hard feelings when they are old, this is what satan does and its a shame

    • To me each day is a day in the lord. I think many believe in celebrating christmas for wrong reasonS. However I wonder did Jesus have a bar Mizvah? Did paul celebrate pentecost. The answer to these questions many cannot answer. However I know that paul wrote about hoping to make it to a place in time for pentacost so yes some days are celebrated still by Christians. I believe jesus had a bar Mizvah. If he was supposed to fullfill jewish ways and his parents took him to the temple to fullfill what is required for the oFfering for the gift of the firstborn. I teach my children that the tree is the tree of life in my eyes. The angel or star is great because the star showed the Magai the way and the angels heralded his birth and anounced it to none other then shepherds. And He is The Good shepherd. I teach them the gifts are just because he is the best gift ever given to menkind. And God Loves a cheerfull Giver. I Also Teach them to be thanKful for the gifts they get, because god provided & he doesn’t have to. I also want to reply to what I believe grace to be. I believe it is unmerrited favor. Totally undeserved and unearned. It is a gift from god that nobody deserves by working for or being born to it is ours just for the aSking. And we cannot say we got it by ourselves. Lest any body can boast. It is a Gift. A free gift. Sort of like a get out of hell free card. But I owe him a debt because I was bought for the dearest price that could ever be paid for anything or anyone. I am not a Pagan nor do I believe in their beliefs. I just celebrate jesus each and every day. But the way I see it. He knows my heart & the hearts of everyone so he knows that I worship him alone & that he is the spirit of giving ! I hope that you see him as I do. But he knows your hearts too. Enjoy him & Praise his beautiful name. Love, your sis inchrist jesus, Annette

  3. Roadrunner says:

the tree is pagan, i think I remember researching it and finding out it represents fertility, because it stays green all winter and the tree being upright also represents fertility with the male reproductive organ being upright, so pagans used to put one in their home and decorate it to increase fertility and for sexual reasons. Ever wonder why people kiss under mistletoe?? Druids used misletoe to trick women to walk under it and then they could have their wicked way with them (more than kissing!).
And your right about Jesus not being born on 25th december, its known fact, he wasn’t born in winter.
I researched it and the reson christmas is on 25th December is some catholic dude saw all the pagan celebrations going on around him around the time of year we know as christmas, the sun god was celebrated (amongst other things) for dying and comming back to life (after the shortest day) and the catholic guy thought this reminded him of Jesus so he decided to introduce christmas where people celebrate his birth with paganism (Deuteronomy 12:29-32).

But now its just for fun, because Jesus doesn’t mind us celebrating his birth at a time of year we know he wasn’t born in, and by celebrating his birth with paganism.

okay I’m being sarcastic, personally I think its horrid and Jesus hates it, I also think Satan loves it because all so called christians do paganism (which we know as devil worship) at least once a year, and in all in the Lords name.

I no longer parttake in christmas as Jesus has shown me the truth, and I am not going to ignore it.

Don’t take my word for it, research the origin of christmas yourself.

    • Holyroller_11 says:

If I choose to put a tree in my house,(its my house) and if I buy a few gifts for my family, and we enjoy a day together in this busy world,so be it, I will not let satan take something harmless and make a sin out of it. I didn;t lie to my children and preach santa clause,I simply enjoy my family,my 2 grand kids have C.F,a thing which is in progress of be healed, when I can prove this,I will post it,and it will be soon. but they have enough trouble,to not allow them to be happy on a national holiday is the sin. I don;t worship a tree or a holiday. only JESUS. a little kid goes to school and everyone tells of their gifts, and kids that their parents messes up their head, need horsewhiped, most that practice no Christmas, sin in a greater way.by allowing satan to fool them into punishing their own kids.Cults such as J.Witnesses and others.

    • Timothy Luke says:

Sister, you are dead on right about the origins of Christmas preceding the birth of Jesus Christ. You are also right that the tree is referred to in Jeremiah chapter 10. The evergreen is not a symbol of fertility, it is the symbol of eternal life, because it never dies. Ancient tradition has it that Semiramis used the birth of her son Nimrod, to say that her husband, who was killed by the sons of Shem, in judgment for his evil deeds and apostacy, was reborn… thus eternal. The evergreen was used as a symbol of that eternal life. One can read of these things in the well-researched Two Babylons, by Hisslop.

Nimrod and Semiramis began celebrations in worship of themselves as god and goddess. When the languages were confounded, the names of gods and celebrations naturally became different in the various cultures. The source is the same, paganism.

When you look at mythologies, you will note the identical storylines and profiles of the characters, though the names are changed in the cultures. Thanks to Babel. The common worldwide worship now has various names.  You will note deities – these are demonic entities demanding worship or they act in anger. Thus the need to placate the gods. There are demigods, whom one could assume are the seed of man and angels, as genetics from pre-flood days indicate. The race of giants that were killed off in David's day, were the last remnant of the genetic strain that evidently carried over the flood through the bloodlines of a wife of the sons of Noah.

You are dead on correct about what Deutoronomy 12:29-31 says, but you should post it so others can read it….

      When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
Deu 12:30  Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
Deu 12:31  Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

So, for those who wish to honor the Word of God, above the traditions of men, and doctrines of devils, it is completely logical to refrain from these days.

People observe the times and days that pagans, then and now, use to worship the devil. This is like a man buying a woman out of sexual slavery and betrothing her and then she keeps pulling out photos and celebrating the anniversaries and times she and her pimp used to share. God refers to spiritual infidelity as adultery, because it cuts Him to the heart when we do these things… but, some will ignore the scripture and the history and carry on because they can do whatever they please in their own homes…. thus, showing that their homes are truly theirs, and not the Lord's…

There are many other Christians who observe these days in innocence of their true origin. I don't think this makes God any happier about them calling him up (so to speak) and saying "happy birthday" when the birthday belongs to the pimp he saved them from.

I do not believe anyone can dispute the facts that you have presented, but we must not judge one another based upon where they and we stand in regard to days….

I tried to do some research on Jesus birthday. It was definitely not in december, but no information was available to pinpoint the exact time. And I understand that we need to focus on what He did for us. Just thought it would be interesting to check it out.

  5. lookingforhope2011 says:

And oh yeah thanking Jesus for our salvation!

    • Holyroller_11 says:

dec is not the month Christ was born but a date set to honor his birthday, this date was set a long time ago, because of so much sin and disrespect happens on the holiday.but in our case, its a time to give in honor of his gift ,our salvation, as far as a tree is concerned, well thats just a decoration, its silly that some people get upset over that. the down side is people get crazy this time of year, depression, obsession, and plain mean, the devil doesn;t like the name of Jesus talked about so much, thats even more reason to praise the name of Jesus,PRAISE JESUS THE LAMB OF GOD WHO TAKETH AWAY OUR SIN !!!!!!!
