Accepting that we are not wiser than God

Whenever a person rebels against authority, whether it be against a human government, against parents, against church leaders, or against God, it is always done for a reason.

For example, 200+ years ago the American people rebelled against the British colonial government. This government was seen as tyrannical and unfair.

Christian, be ready!

Jesus said:

“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.

“Therefor you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour do you not expect”. (Matthew 24:42-44)

This ties in well with the idea that in order to come to God you MUST believe “that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”. (quoting from Hebrews 11:6).

Why Teaching and Knowledge is So Important

I am on a search for wisdom and some of the things I am realizing are very basic, yet I think they are easily ignored.

The Book of Proverbs in the Bible is God’s book of wisdom. Written by a man who at one time had more wisdom than any man who had ever lived, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, there is a lot there for us to learn and consider.

It says, in Proverbs 1:22 ” How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity?

Does God do it all?

“Well done good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)

“He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

Every now and then theological ideas come up which emphasize God’s part in our lives to the exclusion of all else. It sounds spiritual when someone who is complimented on a good work says, “No, it was really God who did it all”. It sounds like a humble way of giving all the glory to God. But this kind of talking is unscriptural, because while God may work through us, He generally requires our active co-operation.

Turning Defeat into Victory

Introduction: In chapter 7 we see Joshua and his men getting routed by the men of Ai because of the sin of one man Achan who coveted and kept devoted things from the previous exploits, against the specific command of God to not do so. This defeat follows a grand victory God had given the Israelites when the walls of Jericho collapsed and the entire city was destroyed and every living thing in that city was put to the sword by the Israelites.

Fixing a Bad Relationship

If you had a bad relationship with somebody it is best to follow these steps:

Usually there are faults on both sides in any relationship problem. One of the keys to being blessed by God in this area is humility. You may consider that the other person is 90% to blame, while your blame is only 10%. Nevertheless, you are not responsible for that person’s attitudes and actions, only your own. There is the possibility you have misunderstood what they said and did. The more you humble yourself in this process the more you can expect God’s blessing.

The Righteous Shall Get Land – Psalm 37, Mark 10

Psalm 37 repeats the promise that the righteous shall get land. This would have both a natural and a spiritual application.Naturally, land is a great investment. It is a scarce resource which the government cannot print, only release for use. As world population grows, it needs to be inhabited more densely and grows in value.

In the Old Covenant, the land of Israel was very important. It was a big deal for the people of Israel to inherit and conquer the Promised Land.

Which is worse – bad food in or bad words out?

Mar 7:14 And having summoned all the crowd, He said to them, “Hear Me, all of you and understand:
Mar 7:15 There is nothing from outside a man, that entering into him, can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.
Mar 7:16 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”
Mar 7:17 When He had entered a house away from the crowd, His disciples were asking Him about the parable.
Mar 7:18 So He said to them, “Are you also without understanding?
