One of the Ten Commandments says, in Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you. "
What does this mean?
Jesus referred to it as a commandment that the Scribes and Pharisees were violating through their traditions
There are lots of different kinds of false teachings around in the world today. There are teachings like Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses and other cults which add to and subtract from the Word of God in order to create a new religious empire. There are really off-base occult philosophical systems like Theosophy, Rosicrucianism and the smorgasbord of various New Age systems including Hinduism and Buddism which some people select ideas from in order to construct their own personal belief system. All these things take people away from Jesus Christ.
2Peter 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
2Peter 2:2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.
2Peter 2:3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.
I don`t know how this is going to work seeing I am using a cell phone to write this. The first thing I want toake note of, is I believe there are different Gift of the Spirit than mention in I Cor. They might be categories that all the gifts can fall under. The Lord had me to grow up in a place that I got to know Him and not only Him but evil spirts. I remember when I was a kid I could out in the field and it would be hot, but when I walk into a certain spot in the field my teeth would start to chatter because it was really cold in that on spot.

One of the issues dividing Christians today is this issue of whether there will be a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the future which will sweep in unprecedented numbers into God's Kingdom and possibly transform human society.

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Even in the early church, when the apostles were still alive, there were false teachers. How much more today, when there is so much disagreement and confusion in the Body of Christ!
