The Devotion of Suicide Bombers

We have seen the emergence of suicide bombers in the last decade or so. All the suicide bombers I have heard about have considered themselves muslim believers. They understand that Jews must be driven out of what they call Palestine, and that Americans, who have supported the Jewish State, are also guilty – and deserve to die and go to hell for this reason. So they have no problem in blowing themselves up along with Jews and Americans.

Bible Verses showing the importance of our Choices

Some say that God never tells us to choose the right thing, because He knows He hasn’t given us a free will. But how about

choose this day whom you will serve … but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord … you are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the LORD for yourselves, to serve Him.” (Joshua 24:15,22) ?

Some teach us that it is impossible for us to obey the commandments of God.

The Daily Choice to Make

As we live our life, it is not so much whether we should choose to do something “good” versus something “evil”. It is not a question of how well we follow our own ethical systems. We all have rules that we use to govern our behavior. Some of these rules are derived from God’s revelation, and others may not be. But the primary question is not whether we choose “good” or “evil”. It is whether we choose “God” or “evil”.

Does God make men sinners?

Before getting into this highly difficult subject I want to tell you the practical conclusion on salvation. The fact is that God knew that all would sin except Jesus Christ, and that man would not be able to save himself from either the guilt or the power of sin. That is why it was established before the foundation of the world that Jesus would be sent by God the Father to come as a man and die on the cross to take the punishment, guilt and power of sin upon Himself. It is only through the cross we can be saved.

The Healing Presence of Jesus

I had the privilege yesterday of spending some time with a man of God who is recognised as a great evangelist in the nation I am currently in. He is a personal friend of Reinhardt Bonnke and has witnessed some of the most outstanding miracles which the Lord Jesus Christ has done in his meetings.

Last night even without prayer for the sick, even before preaching, maybe about 20 or 30 people came up on stage testifying of being healed in the meeting. One was formerly blind in his right eye, others were paralysed and could not walk.

Ambition for Leadership

And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come to Him, saying, Master we would that you should do for us whatever we shall desire.

And He said to them, “What would you that I should do for you”?

They said to Him, “Grant to us that we may sit, one on Your right hand, and the other on Your left hand, in Your glory.”

But Jesus said to them, “You know not what you ask: can you drink of the cup that I drink of?

Christian Leadership

Clearly the need of the hour is quality Christian leadership. People who lead like Jesus are in short supply today. One thing I see in Jesus is the principle of leadership by example. He always did what he sought to inculcate in his followers. Whether it was love, prayer, self-discipline, diligence, kindness, love for the Word, healing, deliverance, boldness, servanthood or faith – Jesus always showed it before he asked it of his followers. And we are called to be like Jesus in this respect.

I am not writing as someone who claims to be an outstanding leader, but as a learner on the way.

Democrats win House

Well according to this CNN article the Democrats in the US have won the House in Congress and are almost certainly going to win the Senate. So now the Republicans cannot push their legislation through without co-operation from the other party. Both Republicans and Democrats are interested in expanding the beast of secular government, so as believers we need to be watchful and prayerful.

Pray for spiritual leaders

I refer to the exhortation given here concerning the scandal with Ted Haggard.

By all means let us pray for spiritual leaders, but let us also pray that the Lord will empower our Christian leaders with the gift of discernment of spirits and the boldness to use it in love, so that a lot of these problems can be avoided before they blow up into big things that unsettle the faith of baby Christians.

We also need to make sure our reasons for believing are more to do with Jesus Christ himself than with his
