Your Heart – God’s House of Rest

1 Samuel 16: 7: …for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
Isaiah 66: 1-2: Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is Poor (poor in Spirit) and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth (fears) at my Word.

Each and every individual is a vessel. A Vessel can be defined as anything that can be possessed and used. In other words we are a Medium through which a user can use to communicate. A ship, boat, airplane, container, vehicle, etc. are all examples of a medium or vessel. They are a means by which something is carried out, communicated or achieved. They all have one thing in common – they are all made ALIVE by a user; without a user, pilot, driver, captain, commander, etc. they are DEAD. A container is useless without its contents. Likewise, an airplane or a ship is DEAD without a Captain. They are just empty vessels but come ALIVE once possessed and used.
Similarly, you are a vessel created by the Creator in order for Him to dwell and use in any way He pleases. Without the Creator inside the vessel, you are useless, DEAD. It is hoped that this article will simplify and explain in the simplest terms what it means to be a Vessel of God. It just goes on to show that YOUR HEART WAS CREATED IN THE EXACT SIZE OF THE CREATOR HIMSELF.
It is the author’s earnest prayer that the Creator ministers to you and reveals His truth to you as you read this article. Amen

1.0 Your Heart – God’s House of Rest
Your heart was made in the exact likeness and size of God Himself, not a millimeter more, not a millimeter less. It was molded, crafted, and shaped to the exact size of the Maker Himself, not an inch more, not an inch less. The Psalmist wrote that you were fearfully and wonderfully made (Ps.139: 14); every bit of detail was taken into account. Nothing was left out. Why? Because the Maker wanted to dwell and rest in the house that He himself built (1 Cor 6: 19; 3: 16 -17). That is the whole purpose God created you in the first place.
After God created the universe, He saw that it was good but God, being a Spirit, could not communicate and fellowship with His creation. The creation that is mentioned in Genesis is all Physical; things that we can see, taste, feel, smell etc. and God is Spirit (John 4: 24); therefore he couldn’t enjoy what he had just created. That is when God thought “Let me make something/someone, a medium; a vessel that I can dwell in so that through him I can communicate and fellowship with my creation”.
So God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Gen 2: 7). Notice here that God physically did two things – God involved Himself in the making of man. All the other creation begins with “and God said; let there be”. God just sat on His throne, issued the command and the creation just fell into place. But when He created His own House, He left His throne, and literally did two things:
Firstly, He formed man; He molded, framed, shaped, re-shaped and re-shaped the man fearfully and wonderfully, until He was satisfied with the shape He had just created; the shape you are today. God made you in such fine details that it is no wonder doctors are at a loss to explain the details of the human body! and;
Secondly, He breathed the breath of life into man’s nostrils. He could have just issued the command to the lifeless shape to get up, breathe and walk but instead, He knelt down and physically breathed His breath into the man He had just formed and in that instant the DEAD and lifeless form; MAN became a living soul. See the point? Unless God dwells in your Heart, you are Dead and useless. That is what God told the prophet Isaiah; “…where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?”.
God does not dwell in houses people build – He dwells in the House He himself built. Churches, temples, and synagogues are places where people gather to worship the Lord; God does not necessarily dwell in those buildings. He goes on to say “but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my Word”. Those who believe in the Word of God, fear Him and tremble at His Word are the vessels God is looking for to rest His head.
And Jesus saith unto him, “foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head”. Mathew 8: 20. Jesus requires your heart to lay his head. Jesus requires your life to call His House of Rest.
The breath of life represents God Himself, in the Spirit, the exact image and likeness of God, the life-giving spirit entering the physical body and man became a living soul. You see, man was created so that God would dwell in and manifest through him but because of Adam’s fall, that was no longer possible. That’s when Christ came to bridge that gap in order for God and man to communicate once again.

2.0 Jesus, the Only Way.
Jesus Christ is the only answer, mediator and way through which man can communicate with God. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Tim 2: 5; …he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. Heb 8: 6
In the world today, there are so many “dead men” walking and are not aware of it. That is exactly what Christ meant when he said “let the dead bury their dead” in the scriptures: “Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead; Mathew 8:22; Jesus said unto him, “Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God” Luke 9: 60
These people were alive at the time Christ made that statement but why did Christ say they were dead? The reason is simple: Christ saw that the life-giving spirit of God was not in them. They were alive in the flesh but their spirit was dead for ages, and they didn’t even know it! Jesus was going to resurrect the spirit of that disciple who was dead for ages. Jesus asked him not to worry about his father’s dead body and to let the dead (those who were spiritually dead) to bury their dead (the dead body). The disciple was to follow Jesus so he could be made ALIVE again.
Important thing to note here is this: there is no difference between those who have already died and those who are alive today in the flesh but are dead in the spirit. According to Jesus, they are all considered DEAD!!
You are DEAD if God is not present in your life and possessing your Heart today. Today Christ is calling you to accept Him and make Him your master and commander in chief so that you can be made ALIVE. If you hear his calling today, do not harden your heart. Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts; Heb 3: 7-8, 15; 4: 7
Christ came to resurrect the dead, both in the flesh and in the spirit. He is the light of the world, the bread of life, the only way to the father, the truth, the redeemer and savior of mankind. Without Christ in our lives, we are dead. That’s why Jesus said: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live”. John 5: 25

3.0 The House God Dwells In
Most people like to think that God dwells in them and say such things like; “well, God lives in me so why bother going to church; or why bother to worship anyway?” They are right in saying that God lives in them as the scriptures say, but we have to be very careful when we say such things like this because Satan is a very cunning creature who uses scriptures to fool people too! Don’t be fooled into thinking that you are OK claiming to have God inside you, whilst your sinful desire is also playing an active role in your life daily. If God really is possessing His house then everything that His House does will always be according to the divine Will and purpose of the Commander, Chief and Owner of the house.
Your actions, thoughts, words, way of thinking, conduct, character, walks of life, etc. will have to reflect to others that the Creator is indeed living and is in action in your life every moment you are alive. If your characters reflect differently, then you should not claim that the Maker is dwelling in your house.
Let us answer this question: Can God dwell in just any house? Think of it this way; think of the house you live; do you just live in a house that is dump, wet, rubbish everywhere, animals and insects crawling here and there, dusty, filthy, completely chaos etc? Or do you first make your home as lively as possible to suit the way you want it to be before you actually call it a home? A house is called a home only after it has been cleaned of any unwanted stuff, free of rubbish, everything set in order, painted to look nice, perfumed to smell good, polished and made to an acceptable standard to live. Only then it is called a House; only then it is made into a Home. God will not just come and dwell in any house but the house that is clean, pure and acceptable to His standards.
However, He will not come in unless you invite Him in first. The bible tells us in Revelation 3: 20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me”. Even though He is the Maker of you and me, He will not forcefully come in and possess you uninvited. The will power and power of choice whether to invite Him into our hearts or not really depends on us. It is your choice to accept Him in or to deny Him.
Once you make that decision to accept the Creator and Maker into your heart, He will forgive and wash it clean by the precious blood of His only Son, He will refine it, mend it, mold it, modify it, re-build it, re-shape it, cleanse it, re-new it, polish it and purify it to His acceptable standards. Then and only then will He come in and dwell in His House. Then and only then will you be a Vessel of God, ready for His service.

4.0 Life’s Satisfaction
In the world today it is evident that there is no satisfaction in people’s lives. No one is content with what he already has, he still wants more. They have jobs with good income but are still looking for a better paying job thinking that once they get enough money, all their problems will go away and they will be satisfied. People have three to four businesses but are still looking for more – they are not satisfied. A man is married and has a wife but is still looking for another 18 year old to marry – he is never satisfied with what he already has. People turn to drugs, alcohol, entertainment, sports, criminal activities looking for happiness and satisfaction but never are. They do find happiness, but is only short lived. The happiness they find is but only for a while. It does not last forever.
That’s the difference between Happiness and Joy. HAPPINESS is what you create to satisfy your needs – it comes only for a while and goes away, it does not last forever – a grand final victory in a ball game for example. JOY, on the other end, is only given by the Maker himself. Money won’t be an issue in your life; you will be content with what you already have. JOY is everlasting; it is not something you do to be Joyful but rather JOY is automatically present in your life when the Creator is the owner of your Heart.
Those who don’t have the Creator as their Lord and King of their heart will never be satisfied with the life they live and will keep looking for means and ways to satisfy their lives until eventually they loose their lives, both this life on earth and the eternal life. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death”. Proverbs 14: 12
Why? Because the Heart is too big for all these things. You can sink the whole world inside your heart and will never be satisfied; your heart is too big even for the whole world. You can have all the luxuries and happiness of this world in your heart and will never be satisfied; your heart is even bigger in size for all these things and the entire world.

5.0 God Requires Your Heart
Ever wondered when your life will be complete? Ever wondered when you will ever be content with what you have? The only time your life will be fully satisfied is when the Maker, the Creator and the King Himself dwells in your heart. That is the time your life will be complete because God designed and engineered your Heart the Exact size of Himself. There won’t be any space or room in your heart that you will lack anything. Technical people will remember the three different types of fits: the clearance fit (loose fit), the transition fit (exact size to size), the interference fit (tight fit). God engineered your Heart to be a Transition fit; in a way that it is size to size with Him; that there is no gap left that you would lack anything. When God is fully in your Heart, your life is complete and full. Period!
Then and only then will your life be full, satisfied, and complete because the Creator of your heart has fully occupied it. Whether you have money or not, whether you have food or not, whether you have a good family or not, whether you are ugly, poor, dirty, rejected, filthy, small, a nobody in society, all won’t matter any more because you have the Creator in you!
You will always be Joyful; your life will always be full and satisfied. You will not lack any thing, because the Lord your God will be your supplier, (Philippians 4: 19) and your Sheppard, who will provide for all your needs. (Ps. 23: 1).
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4: 19. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Ps. 23: 1).

6.0 Christ’s Calling
Finally, brethrens, Christ knocks on our heart every single second we’re awake. Wherever you are; at work, while out with friends, while in your garden, while driving, while drinking, while eating, while sleeping, while meeting a new friend, while playing, while at school, everywhere, anywhere, anytime, God is constantly calling you. He has every right to do so because He made you, He loves you, and He cares for you. His love for us is far greater than any thing in this world, far greater than anything you’ve ever imagined; He loves you to such extreme that He could even sacrifice His own life for you. Your life has been paid for in full at Calvary (1 Cor 6: 20). You are His completely. You are very precious to Him that your every hair is numbered (Mathew 10: 30)!
Today, invite Him into your heart to fulfill the purpose He created you for, so that your life may be full, complete, peaceful and satisfied in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, who was and who is and who is to come. Amen.

“Father, thank you for your divine revelation; thank you for creating this heart of mine. Lord, I am sorry that I didn’t realize sooner your purpose for creating my heart; I am sorry for not inviting you into my life sooner. Father, today I welcome you into my heart; come into my heart, Father God, take your rightful place in my life. Cleanse it of every evil, every dirt and of every filth; forgive me of every sin and dwell in my heart, this day, every day, and forever. AMEN”.

“Lord Jesus, please come quickly”.

“Do all the Good you can
By all the Means you can
In all the Ways you can
In all the Places you can
At all the Times you can
As long as you ever can”
-John Wesley – 1703- 1791
