IN JESUS’ NAME – The Power of Prayer

We as Christians have the legal right to use the name of Jesus in asking or receiving anything from God. This right is given to us by Jesus Himself.

(Highlighted by me for emphasis.)

Joh 15:16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that WHATEVER you ask the Father IN MY NAME [as presenting all that I AM], He may give it to you.

Mar 16:17 And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: IN MY NAME they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;
Mar 16:18 They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.
Mar 16:19 So then the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and He sat down at the right hand of God. [Ps. 110:1.]

This was the last thing He told the disciples before ascending to the Father, how important this must be!

We can ask for ANYTHING in His name:

Joh 16:23 And when that time comes, you will ask nothing of Me [you will need to ask Me no questions]. I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that My Father will grant you WHATEVER you ask IN MY NAME [as presenting all that I AM]. [Exod. 3:14.]
Joh 16:24 Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing IN MY NAME [as presenting all that I AM]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.
Joh 16:25 I have told you these things in parables (veiled language, allegories, dark sayings); the hour is now coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but I shall tell you about the Father in plain words and openly (without reserve).
Joh 16:26 At that time you will ask (pray) IN MY NAME; and I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf [for it will be unnecessary].
Joh 16:27 For the Father Himself [tenderly] loves you because you have loved Me and have believed that I came out from the Father.

Do you realize what our rights are in the New Testament. Jesus has given us the use of His name to carry on the work of God in this world.
When we pray in the name of Jesus we pray by His authority, and it is as if Jesus Himself is praying, and God always hears Him. So also we can have confidence that our prayers will be answered.

Joh 11:41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
Joh 11:42 Yes, I know You ALWAYS hear and listen to Me, but I have said this on account of and for the benefit of the people standing around, so that they may believe that You did send Me [that You have made Me Your Messenger].

We must believe that not only do we pray by His authority but that our prayers pass in His hands and He assumes reponsibility for the answer. We can expect an answer because this glorifies the Father, through the Son.

Joh 14:12 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father.
Joh 14:13 And I will do [I Myself will grant] whatever you ask IN My NAME [as presenting all that I AM], so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in (through) the Son. [Exod. 3:14.]
Joh 14:14 [Yes] I will grant [I Myself will do for you] whatever you shall ask IN MY NAME [as presenting all that I AM].

The Father knows all that the name of Jesus stands for and that we have a legal and family right to use this name in prayer.
It is the glory of God to recognize the name of Jesus in prayer and to answer according to the faith we use.

Paul said:
Rom 8:32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also WITH Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?
