Count Your Blessings

When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
*Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
[*And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.]

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings—wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end

I grew up in the church but that did not make me a Christian child or adult. I went through much until I surrendered to a loving God.
As a child my Grandmother would often sing this song to me.
Now I remember often to to count my blessings. Some nights I have a diffucult time staying asleep or going to sleep. Instead of thinking about what the day was about or what I must do tomorrow, I start to name off the blessings that God has graciously bestowed upon me & I am quickly asleep.
When one starts to think about their blessings all the worries, what if’s, could have, should have, why me?, quickly fade from the mind & great love toward the Saviour will erupt into the soul.

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
