Rock-N-Roll

Can someone explain to me how rock-n-roll music is evil? I’ve seen many postings on this site stating that rock music is evil and I don’t understand how a type of music can be evil. Lyrics yes, but musical notes seem pretty harmless to me. I’ve searched the Bible from cover to cover and I can’t find anything against rock. I’m not being argumentative, I just don’t see how one particular style of music can be anymore evil than, let’s say, a computer. If I use the computer to visit pornographic web sites, its bad. If I use it to go to Christian web sites and study God’s Word, its good.

Changing Times

The other day I ran across something that I wasn’t aware of. In most new text books in this country the year is designated with CE or BCE instead of AD or BC. CE stands for “current era” and BCE stand for “before current era”. AD is the abbreviation for “Anno Domini” in Latin or “the year of our Lord” in English and BC stands for “Before Christ”. The use of CE and BCE is more widespread than I could have imagined. A Google search for “2007 CE” returned 1,800,000 hits and “2007 AD” returned 1,940,000 hits (I know the correct notation is AD 2007, but most people put the AD after the year).

Charismatic

First, I would like to state that I consider myself to be a charismatic Christian, which basically means I believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and believe everything it says including Mark 16: 17-18 “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” I do not pick and choose certain parts that line up with my beliefs and discard those

The Timing of the Rapture

First of all, I want to say that I am pro pre-tribulation rapture. Pro pre-trib in the sense that I would greatly prefer to not endure any of the tribulation, however there is a certain passages in the Bible that cannot be ignored. The pre-tribulation rapture view is largely popular and preached by most churches and televangelists throughout this country, but does Scripture support it? I’m not going to present the pre-trib rapture view, as it is widely known and held by most rapture believing Christians. I am also not going to point out the problems with this view.

Saved by the Light

I’m a 48 year old divorced man. I have two wonderful children which I see on the weekends and the Lord Jesus Christ is first in my life, but it always hasn’t been that way. I was raised in a Methodist Church. We attended service every Sunday and I was active in our youth group. I would get on fire for God after a youth group retreat, but I would slowly drift away upon returning.

When I was eighteen, I joined the Navy and spent the next six years seeing the world. I was about as far away from God as anyone can get.
