The Lord has been getting my attention in a very unique way. He has been persistent, yet patient and I opened my heart to Him as He started this in the beginning of December 2010. I wasn’t yet a Christian when this all began. To be quite honest, I was misguided and my eyes shielded from the truth.
Its actually great to see how this recent flood crisis in Queensland is bringing out so many volunteers from churches to help those who have suffered great material loss.
Some people from the small church I have attended have talked about how they have been involved in helping people through this crisis in some ways.
I have also been helped in my understanding by the message preached by the pastor of the local church I attend. He said that the greatest thing that could come out of this is that people will have a renewed desire to PRAY.
Romans 8:21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Romans 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.
When I watched my wife give birth, I got a limited appreciation of what "birth pangs" mean. Being a man, I can only have a very limited appreciation. But it didn't look like fun.
News reports are coming out of major flooding across large areas of Victoria, another state of Australia. You can look it up on google.
As an Australian that truly cares about the salvation of souls here and has given up some of the best years of my life in efforts to reach Australians with the gospel, I greet all this with mixed emotion.
“How many times do you have to touch rock bottom before you drown? Either pull me up or put me out.” This used to be a saying of mine as I was all too familiar with rock bottom. Most of my life was like a dark pit where I painfully clawed my way to the top, only to slide back down again. I am 33 years old today and I recently found my Saviour, Jesus Christ. He has given me such love that I’ve never felt, a peace I could have never imagined, an ecstatic joy that has flooded my whole being and a brand new life.
The Bible says,
2Ch 7:13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,
2Ch 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
In searching the Bible for the truth about God, we come across statements like these above.
Rick Warren is a very affable man who understands a lot of things, not only about the Bible, but also about leading and managing human beings.
He is VERY smooth.
I have read his book "The Purpose Driven Church" which came out well before "The Purpose Driven Life".
Rick Warren doesn't speak in tongues, or allow people to speak in tongues in his megachurch.
To fill the spiritual void this creates, he embraces all kinds of New Age spirituality, teachers and philosophies. The proof is easy to document.
I am 20 years old and since 2005, I felt like everything that could go wrong in my life did. At 14 years old I was molested by my stepfather. At that time i felt that no one in this world cared and felt so alone, so when he noticed my weakness he used the “im there for you” speech. Not to mention that to this day i dont know anyone that knows the bible as well as him. When I finally confessed to my mother, it nearly killed her. She didnt know why she couldnt protect me.
The State of Queensland is extremely damaged overall. Here's a report with some photos of what is going on in Brisbane alone. Its really hard to comprehend just how much of the state's infrastructure all over this huge place is down. Just to get an idea, take a look at this list of roads that are down or damaged. All over the state.
