Confessions about Thought Life

I must be slow to anger.

I must also be quick to listen and slow to speak.

I will not be so foolish as to get annoyed. (Proverbs 12:16)

It takes great understanding to be slow to anger. I lift up my voice for this understanding. I will not have a hasty temper, so as to exalt folly. (Proverbs 14:29; 2:1-4)

Anger is a work of the flesh. But I belong to Jesus and have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
(Galatians 5:20,24)

I must answer softly and not speak harshly.

Confessions on Forgiving Others

Father, forgive me my debts, as I forgive my debtors. Mt 6.12

For if I forgive men their trespasses, my Heavenly Father will also forgive me. But if I do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will my Father forgive my trespasses. Mt 6.14 6.15

If my brother sins against me I shall forgive him up to seventy times seven times. Mt 18.21 18.22

My Heavenly Father will deliver me to the torturers until I pay all I owe God, if I from my heart do not forgive my brother his trespasses. Mt 18.34 18.35

The blood of the New Covenant was shed for the remission of sins.

Resisting Worry, Anxiety, Frustration

I cast all my anxieties (worries) upon the Lord, because He cares for me. 1Pet 5.7

I have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving I let my requests be made known to God. Php 4.6

I do not fret or worry or get anxious because of wicked people. I am not envious of wrongdoers. Ps 37.1

I am still before the LORD, and wait patiently for him. I do not get uptight or worry over the one who prospers through dirty tricks and dishonest methods. Ps 37.7

I will hold myself from getting angry about this stuff.

Self Denial Confessions

I desire to come after Jesus, and therefore I must deny myself, and take up my cross and follow Jesus. (Matthew 16:24)

I do not desire to save my own self-life.

I lose my soul-life for Jesus and will find it. (Matthew 16:25)

I am not ashamed of Jesus nor His Words. (Mark 8:38)

Jesus says, “Let Michael deny himself. [insert your name here]” (Luke 9:23)

I must take up my cross DAILY. (Luke 9:23)

I offer my body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God. This is my reasonable service.

Confessions on Death to Sin

I reckon I’m really dead to sin. # Rom 6.11

My old nature was crucified with Jesus, so I am dead to myself also.

I reckon I’m really alive to God, in Jesus Christ my Lord. # Rom 6.11

I do not let sin rule in my mortal body, to obey it in its lusts. # Rom 6.12

I do not yield my members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin. I rather yield myself to God and my members as instruments of righteousness to God. # Rom 6.12-6.13

Sin shall not Lord it over me, for I am not under the law, but under grace.

Putting off the Old Man

I have put off the old man with its deeds. (Colossians 3:9)

I reckon myself to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Jesus Christ my Lord. (Romans 6:11)

I am Christ’s and have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Therefore I no longer have desire for any kind of impurity or sinful behaviour. (Galatians 5:19, 24)

I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me. (Galatians 2:20)

I have died, and my life is hidden with Christ in God.

How to Overcome Temptation

Satan will try to get me away from being filled with the Spirit, by offering in my mind temptations which appeal to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes or the pride of life.

What should I do when I am aware of temptations?

1. Look to Jesus Christ. Try to force the mind off the temptation by looking to the Lord and His Word.

2. Immediately seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

3. Endeavour, if possible, to flee temptation.

4. Pray for the Lord not to lead me into temptation.

5. Use spiritual weapons where possible – speak the Word, praise God etc.

Confessions of Victory in Spiritual Warfare

Jesus bore my sicknesses and carried my pains, and with His stripes I am healed. Is 53.4 53.5

God has delivered me from the power of darkness and has conveyed me into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Col 1.13 1.14

In righteousness I shall be established. I shall be far from oppression, for I shall not fear.
