Women wearing pants

This sunday a lady at my church said that she receives a prophecy from God to tell all the women to stop wearing pants because it is against god’s word.
What is your intake on that……

    I got a “prophecy” about my relationship a few years ago from someone and i took it all in and accepted that this is a woman of God and what she says is true! Like Warrior Daughter says, God does not confuse you. the prophecy i got confused and scared the life out of me! Because i feared that what she said will come true, it all happened. I allowed this woman’s words to cause fear in my life and so it ruled me. I suggest you don’t let anyone dictate the way you dress. Like everybody says God looks at your heart and not at the clothes you wear.

    See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men’s ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah).

    Meditate on this and let Christ be your guide.

    My question is this; How did the leaders of your church re-act to this statement? What are their views on this?

    We trust you’ll take a stand for Christ and follow the Lord’s leading in all this!

  2. God’s grace is sufficient. We are under the new covenant not the old one. The law was given to reveal to us that we are sinful and rebellious and in need of God’s grace, nor our own effort to attain to some kind of standard. God’s grace to us in Jesus is enough. I’d rather trust in His grace and mercy than put any confidence in observing certain rules and laws. If you start trying to obey the rules of the old testament (deutronomy) then you are indebted to obey every one of them perfectly.

    ‘Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law’ Galatians 5:2,3

    God works out His salvation in us through His grace and His Holy Spirit.

    ‘I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did u receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you hear? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by human effort?’ Galatians 3:2,3

    We are in Christ, and clothed with Him, God doesn’t look to our works for our standing with Him or our righteousness, but to our faith in Jesus. And through His grace and our faith He will start to change and transform us according to His love for us and what is best for us – and that does not include having to wear skirts rather than pants for women. He is concerned about our heart and love for Him, not the manner of clothing we are wearing. And if someone did dress really inappropriately I don’t think God would want that person to change unless it was out of their love and for God out of their heart, not by observing some dead law or rule – which would only push them further from God.

  3. I receive words from God, but I don’t think our God is concerned if women should wear pants or not. I believe in modest attire.
    Our pastor always reminds us we are under the grace not under the law.
    I think most important is to love and deliver any word in love if it is prophetic or not.

    As far as your question, is this a prophesy from God about women wearing pants.
    The answer is an emphatic “NO”
    But there is scripture in regard to improper clothing for men, and women.
    Deu 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
    At what point does an abomination, cease to be an abomination?

      This brings into question the customs of a people. So, a man should not wear a skirt? In Scotland a kilt is made for a man. Men dress in robes (dresses) in the middle east. There are pants that are made for women, and there are pants that are made for men. Is this not where we draw the line… If it is made for women, whether pants suits or not, it pertains to a woman?

      How does this fit into the discussion?

    • Well Brother ,

      This refers to the fetish of cross dressing.

      In Scotland , men wear kilts , …..which is more of a skirt
      and in the modern world ,………..well women wear pants.

      If a person , ….indulges in cross dressing , ……to get
      a kick out of it ,……yes ,….that is a problem area ,….
      which is to be avoided as mentioned in Deut 22:5.

        I totally agree with your comments. I live in uk and was thinking about the Scottish. Yes they wear skirts but no one would say that they are breaking God’s commandment. I believe in Deut 22:5 but that scripture does not define what a man’s or woman’s apparel is.

        Jesus did not wear pants. In his time men did not wear trousers and in the time of Moses who wrote that scripture men did not wear trousers. If you watch any of these old films like Julius caesar, one would notice that the soldiers battle attire and dress did not include trousers.

        the principle is we should not cross dress. In other words we should not wear things that make us look like the other sex. We all have the spirit of God so we should know what is appropriate or not. We should not let others lead us into bondage

    In my attempt to speak to the question of women wearing pants, after everything I had written I came to a point where the most basic of questions answers it.

    In answering this question, be as unbiased, and honest as you can be.

    On this next Sunday morning, when you all go to Church, take note as to how many women above the age of 15 wear pants to Church.
    Then ask yourself this question.
    If right now, a man came walking up to go to Church wearing a dress, would he be allowed to enter the sanctuary? Would there be comments made about this man, would there be snickering, laughing, rolling of the eyes by people?
    Then finally, ask yourself this question.
    If this event did take place, how would I personally feel about it, or react to it, (and why)?

    Now take the time to write your thoughts on this matter, and post them. I am truly curious as to what everyone thinks, and why.

    I am soooooo tempted to go further on this, but I did say basic, so I’m not going to.

    • I know what Jesus would do :p He wouldn’t reject the person, but rather embrace them in God’s love for them and show them acceptance and loving-kindness and grace. But I don’t think this discussion is healthy or wise, especially for the sake of woman, as the original poster’s question has been answered :p

  6. This thing troubled my wife. We would like more lights be shed on that. We want to do the right thing in the eyes of GOD, but we do not want to be enslaved by anyone agenda. Another one in the same group said that God has told her not to wear pantsseveral times. Last saturday, as she was home god told her to go to a specific stores where she’ll find skirts that He has left for her. She went there as ” stated”, she bought so many skirts where before she couldn’t find any.

      I find it might be helpful to read Galatians chapters 3-5 in regards to this issue where Paul speaks about faith or observance of the law? saying that we are justified through faith in Jesus, not by observing rituals and laws. I also found this verse which relates to clothing heh.

      ‘So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.’ Galatians 3:26-28

      He also says earlier in the chapter: ‘Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by your observing the law, or by your believing what you heard?’ (faith) Galatians 3:5

      ‘All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law”. Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because “the righteous will live by faith”. Galatians 3:10-11

      and in chapter 5 he says: ‘Mark my words! I Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. . . You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace . . . For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.’

      It is for freedom that Christ has set us free! :p

      I’m quite new to this (posting and stuff) so please correct me if I’m off track in regards to this issue.

      I believe the woman gets her thinking out of Deutonomy 22:5

      “A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment for all who do so are in abomination to the Lord your God”

      If her thinking comes from this verse then she would also need to heed
      “You shall not wear a garment of different sorts such as wool and linen mixed together, you shall make tassels on the four corners of the clothing which you cover yourself” Deutoronomy 22:11,12

      Notice why a person wears clothing …to cover up your nakedness

      God is not concerned with the clothing we wear other than to maintain modesty (I Peter 3:1-5) but He is concerned with the heart the inward part not the outward part of the person…We are to be clothed in His righteousness and garments of salvation (Isaiah 61:10)…

      This dress code that she wants to enforce will burden those who cannot afford clothing plus God is not the author of confusion and what has this already done but thrown confusion into the church…Notice I have said the woman’s thinking and not prophecy …If you are more comfortable in pants than a skirt then continue to wear them and do not let this confusion dictate to you…

  7. She obviously doesn’t know God very well . . .

    God is the God of mercy and grace, and saying something like that would not draw people towards Him but push them away, not to mention that is doesn’t build up the church in any way, would only cause division and burdens on the woman. I think God would be more interested in the state of people’s hearts toward Him than what kind of clothing they are wearing.

      If it were a real prophecy ,………and from God , ..the same would have
      been stated decades ago , ……..by someone else , ……just after women
      started wearing pants.

      Expect more rubbish from this lady in your church ,
      …………………….and disregard it at the earliest , …..:-)

      I appreciate your comments but I believe the more important issue here is that of leadership. Leaders should allow people to flow in the gifts of the spirit, however they have responsibility for judging and correcting wrong prophecy and this should be done publicly. This would prevent others from being deceived and also bring correction to the person that gave a prophecy in the flesh or by a wrong spirit. The pastor could simply say that the prophecy is not in line with God’s word or he does not agree with it. this is showing leadership and preventing error from spreading in the church.
