Will people be lost because of the stinginess of Christians?

The apostle Paul in Romans 10:13-15 under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit writes:

For “WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.”

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO PREACH THE GOSPEL OF PEACE, WHO BRING GLAD TIDINGS OF GOOD THINGS!”

If God has said something, you can be sure that somewhere along the line, the devil and his demons will disagree with it. God says that the feet of those who preach the gospel are beautiful. But many Christians are listening more to the devil. They don’t agree. They don’t want the feet of the preachers to go anywhere. They don’t want to send them. They might say they don’t think God is leading them to do this. What a load of baloney. If we cannot go and preach the gospel, we must at least send as many as we can on a manner worthy of the Lord. Yes, we need to give them money and pray diligently for them too, because money alone cannot win spiritual battles.

No one will be saved if no one calls upon the name of the Lord. No one is going to call upon the name of the Lord if they don’t even know His name and they don’t believe in Him. They are not going to hear without a preacher. And folks, preachers will not go unless they are sent. We have churches full of people who are quite capable of preaching very well, but they are not sent out. And we say they are not sent out because we don’t have a budget for it. What a load of hogwash. Do you think God is going to excuse us from the main business he left us with because WE say that its not in the budget?

Don’t expect Jesus to do the preaching. Don’t pray for God to preach to the people while you sit around and have a cup of tea with your Christian friends, or while you surf the net. People are not going to believe without hearing a true preacher. And true preachers are not going to go unless they are sent. And people are going to PERISH because not enough preachers are being sent.

“Let God send them, then”. In the ultimate sense, yes, God does send preachers. And SOMETIMES God sends them without any visible means of support. But God wants US to be involved in the sending process and herein lies the problem.

3Jn 1:5 Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for strangers,
3Jn 1:6 who have borne witness of your love before the church. If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well,
3Jn 1:7 because they went forth for His name’s sake, taking nothing from the Gentiles.
3Jn 1:8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth.

Here John talking about how certain Christians were doing a great job sending forth itinerant evangelists to spread the gospel further. Some of these people were STRANGERS to them. They did not know them personally. They only knew they were brethren. These unknown preachers took nothing from the Gentiles – meaning – they did not obtain their income from trading with the world. But they were received and welcomed by the local church – and it was good that it was so done. As John said, “we ought to receive such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth.”

Not so many people do this today. The standard line in Australian churches is: “Everything we do is based on relationship. We need to get to know you first.” By the time they get to know you, if you hang around, you will probably be so ensnared in the cares of this world and making money for the church building program that you won’t go and preach the gospel for another 10 years anyway. They were not like that in the early church that John wrote to. Perhaps it was because they could very quickly know by the Spirit if someone was walking in the truth or not. In our modern churches however, the lead pastor or “apostle” could be with us for years committing all kinds of sins – visiting prostitutes or abusing drugs – and after all that time it seems no one is any wiser until someone in the world exposes it. God help us.

The fact remains that the world is perishing because of the STINGINESS and PRAYERLESSNESS of the born-again Christians. Jesus gave every last drop of blood so the world could be redeemed, but His own people are so out of touch with His heart that it seems that so many can’t spare $100 for the cause of spreading the news of the marvelous redemption He procured. So many can’t even pray one hour straight for the spread of the gospel. Prayer meeting in many so-called pentecostal churches are DESERTED. If what I am saying does not apply to you, then I am not talking about you. Forgive me for caring about this. Its only that God’s name is being dragged through the mud, and people are losing their eternal souls and its like Jesus never bothered to die in our place or anything like that. All because so many are FAST ASLEEP and seem to be thoroughly IMMUNE to the call of God plainly laid out IN SCRIPTURE to GO themselves or to SEND preachers.

Something is wrong when the church spends more on cat food than on evangelizing unreached people groups. Something is wrong when we think we just HAVE to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on educating each of our little ones to function well IN THE WORLD SYSTEM when we “don’t feel led” to give even $1 so that some entire family can have access to Christian television for a year, for example. We give our left-over scraps to God and think that He should be extremely grateful for them. We don’t think as if GOD might be expecting US to do what HE TOLD US TO DO ALMOST 2000 YEARS AGO and STILL nations have not heard of it. “Oh,” says someone. “Jesus told that to his apostles, not to us. We are far to good at theology to think that Jesus was making US responsible to do this job.”

If you want to be indifferent or lukewarm to the cause of Christ and His gospel, why don’t you just tell everyone that you are a hypocrite and could they please pray for your salvation and that you would start to believe that the gospel is true. My God, Jesus DIED so that the people of the world could have God’s life and God’s salvation in them! Is this the best we can do? Its time to give our lives to God and ask God how we can best get about fulfilling His will and not our own. We need to do this BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
