Why “Sympathy for the Devil” is just plain wrong

The Rolling Stones years ago came out with a song “Sympathy for the Devil”. Includes these lyrics:

“I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul and faith”

and

“Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me lucifer
cause I’m in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or Ill lay your soul to waste, um yeah”

This song contains various boastings of Satan concerning some of his various accomplishments – such as the Communist Revolution, the condemnation of Christ by Pilate (a counter productive move for the devil if ever there was one) and the destruction of men’s eternal souls and their faith. Its remarkable how open the devil can be concerning his true agenda. It is only the spiritual stupidity of man that gives the devil any place at all in the light of such arrogance and hatred towards us all.

Lucifer knew the glory of God but turned his back on God seeking to be god himself. But unlike the true God who desires that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of truth, Satan desires to destroy your soul.

If Satan had the power to destroy your soul without your consent, he would have already done so. But Satan lives in a world created by God – and has definite limits on what he can do. My advice to you is never to yield to the devil, never to have sympathy for the devil and more than you would on a painful cancer consuming your body.

When you are tempted to do evil, to compromise, to turn your back on what the Lord is telling you, remember the nature of your tempter. You are dealing with a spirit being that intensely desires that you go into eternal torture, grief, remorse and loss.

The fun that you can have in sin, the pleasures you can have in sin, is a very cheap bait which satan uses to cause you to LOSE things of far greater value. Ultimately, the pleasures that God will give infinitely outweight what the devil gives. What the devil gives rarely lasts more than 40 or 50 years at the most. It tends to turn rancid even before you enter eternity. Satan is therefore the ultimate rip-off merchant. He just laughs at the stupidity of mankind, as this song also seems to attest.

I hope that helps you to hate the devil and his demons, and not see them as unfortunate victims of God’s agenda. They made their choice with their eyes open. Not only that, but they hate you, they want you to lose everything, they want to torture you and they have been behind every horrible, cruel and dehumanizing work in the history of man.

If however, you think that spiritual beings are not real and that EVIL is not real it is YOU that are the ignorant one, living in a fantasy world.

Allow me to tell you one thing about the goodness of God. The fact that God is GOOD means that He is AT WAR with EVIL. Goodness will not ultimately tolerate evil and is utterly committed to its destruction – just as EVIL cannot ultimately tolerate that which is GOOD, and would destroy all goodness if it could.

God is PATIENT but not TOLERANT of evil. God is committed to filling us with GOODNESS, not merely saving us from HELL, but making us really LOVING as Christ is. To follow Christ is to recognize that we must daily put to death the evil nature within us.

When demons appeal to you to indulge your evil nature, or to follow your old programming that you had before knowing Christ, remember that they are only committed to YOUR ETERNAL LOSS, and to as much temporal loss as you could suffer without coming to your senses and living your life for the God who gave you life and hope in the first place.

I hate these evil spirits. I want to give myself to Jesus Christ more than ever before when I think of their agenda.
