Who is God?

In the beginning, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh, in the person of Jesus Christ, and dwelt among us. This same Word spoke into existence ALL things, visible and invisible. The angelic realm was created by Him.

Lucifer was the pinnacle of God’s created beings. In him was all wisdom and beauty, until Lucifer’s heart turned inward toward self fulfillment and aggrandizement. Then, iniquity was found in him. He lead a third of the angelic host into rebellion against the Most High – The Father God, and The Word. After Lucifer rebelled, his name was changed to Satan, meaning, Adversary. Jesus later stated, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven…”

After the fall of the angelic realm, God created man in His image. God wanted to have a heart to heart relationship with His creation. For that to happen, His creation would have to choose Him. They were given freedom of choice. This liberty is a gift for all mankind. With that choice comes responsibility. We choose, and we are then responsible for the consequences of our choices.

God set before the first man and woman, in the day He created them, a choice. The choice of whom they would serve was made simple. They were shown two trees…. You can read more about that choice in my blog, The Two Gardens.

Mankind chose to forsake Divine Revelation as their guide, and chose to discover the knowledge of good and evil for themselves, under Satan’s supervision. This choice has lead to all the suffering and pain that exists in the world today. Hearts are broken, lives are torn apart, relationships are shattered and scattered, all because man chose to “know good and evil” for themselves, apart from God.

Sin entered the world and mankind suffered the first instance of Identity Theft. We lost our identity as children of God. We lost sight of who we are and why are we here? We lost sight of our hope and our future that is found only in the heart and mind of our Creator, who created us in love. We had our spiritual heritage stripped from us and we now live in a fallen world that is cursed to the end.

God covered the nakedness of Adam and Eve with the skins of an animal. Perhaps in slaying that animal, he chose a lamb whose blood was shed from the foundation of the world, to cover the sins of mankind. In doing this, God signified and set in motion a solemn promise that one day, He would come back, not as God the Creator, but as the Son of Man. He would become flesh and blood, to take upon Himself the choice that Adam failed to make. As He killed the lamb, He knew that one day, HE would be the Lamb and would die so that our sin would be forgiven once and for all.

Being a God of relationship, for “God is love,” The Word purposed to become flesh one day and as a man, He would purpose to make the right choice, that all who believe in Him would not perish, but have the everlasting life that Adam and Eve carelessly tossed aside. But, there were many things that would happen before the incarnation of the Son of God….

The sin of mankind became so evil, being entwined with the sin and even genetics (the race of giants was born that eventually was destroyed when Israel entered the promised land) of the fallen angels, that blood touched blood. Mankind was destroying himself in a masochistic frenzy of violence and hatred and murder. God’s heart was grieved, because he loved mankind so much. Is there a parent who enjoys watching their son or daughter cut or burn themselves while entertaining murder in their hearts toward one another, and even against themselves? So, God, who holds the power of life and death in his hands – for out of his hands alone flows life – decided it was more merciful to end the generations of man.

He found Noah, alone, a preacher of righteousness. God called him and used him to keep the human race alive, while he wiped clean the face of the earth with the flood, so great, that all civilizations recall it in their own languages and traditions.

Out of the flood, civilizations rose up. Nimrod became chief ruler and protector of the people against God and the recurrence of the destruction of a flood. He built the Tower of Babel to insulate the people from the threat of such a flood. (He did not need to do that because God Himself had promised to never do that again). From Nimrod and his wife Semiramis sprang the mythologies and cultures that we know in various nations and regions around the world today. They instituted the rites of paganism carried on today, even in “Christian” churches that hold to some of the traditions and trappings of old.

God chose a man and made many nations from him. This man was Abraham, the father of the faithful. Through faith, Abraham was accounted as righteous. Israel, the chosen people, were not able to keep the commandments. Time and again they fell and were taken captive. They repented, and were saved… This was an historical cycle they went through until the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world – for we were condemned already. He sent His Son into the world that whosoever would believe on Him would not perish, but have everlasting life! Jesus, in the hours before His crucifixion prayed this….

John 171-26 Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Jesus Christ, acting out the will of the Father, is the Creator. As surely as you are reading these words, it is He who gave you the eyes you now use to read these things. He has made a way for you, through Himself. He offered Himself up as the Lamb of God, so that that which He ordained in the Garden of Eden, might come to pass in the Garden of Gethsemane.

“Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved!” is the bold proclamation of the Bible! Are you worn out? Are you at the end of your road? Are you desperate to find the meaning of your life and your purpose?

Jesus is the Way you are seeking. He is the Truth that will set you free. He is the Life, and in Him there is no more death, nor sorrow. The world may afflict us with these things, but Jesus says, “be of good cheer! for I have overcome the world!”

You can too! He delivered my wife and I out of a terrible storm, when there was no help in sight. Read, Our Story. Sometimes he calms the storm, but ALWAYS, He calms the child. Let Him be your Savior today. Let Him be your Lord and Master. He will give you the peace, the love and the joy that you are seeking. With Him alone, life has meaning, because He is the Giver of Life and He is the Life that wants to come into your heart and breathe newness and refreshing!

To come to Him, pray with me, with your whole heart….

]”Father in heaven, I am a sinner. I was born into a fallen world that is at war with you. I have been at war with you. I have sinned against you Heavenly Father, and am no longer worthy to be called your child. Yet, as an act of faith – not in anything good in me, but in the goodness that is in Jesus Christ alone – I confess my sin.

I turn from the false gods of this world and I will serve you alone, as revealed in your Holy Word, The Bible. Cleanse me of my past. Wash me clean from the sin and pollution of my poor choices. Deliver me from the power of the evil one, and set my feet on the firm path of salvation. I confess my sins…. (name the one’s the Lord brings to your heart) and I ask to be forgiven once and for all for them.

I receive the righteousness of Jesus Christ, and clothe myself in it by faith in Him. I receive the gift of salvation and the responsibility to walk uprightly in the power of your spirit. No longer will I pursue the pulls of the flesh.

Fill me now with your Holy Spirit. Create a new heart in me. Former things are passed away, and I am now made new! Thank you Holy Father! Thank you Jesus! I will follow you forever, and ever, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

Congratulations on becoming a Christian!! You are now on the road to Salvation. It will not be easy, but you are heading in the right direction. There is a place of rest, and there is work to be done, but now you are not alone! “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” says Jesus. “I can do ALL things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me,” says the apostle Paul… and now YOU can too!

Who is God? God simply IS. And… He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. You will find Him in the pages of the Bible. Continue to read His Word and pray to Him and have fellowship with like-minded believers.
