What to do with old occult books, cards etc…???

Hi all,
This might seem a silly question for some but before I became a Christian, I used to play with Tarot cards and read books on the paranormal etc..
I’ve still got them on my bookshelf and I’m wondering how do you get rid of them?
I read somewhere that you shouldn’t burn them … here’s the excerpt from the site …
“Burning books will not hurt Satan or his cause- In fact, it will probably help his cause because the human mind will see this as a random act of insanity, leading people away from God. HINT~ if Hitler did it, the church might want to avoid replicating the behavior.”

I cant remember where it was that I read a long time ago about how to properly get rid of things of the occult, I remember reading that there’s a proper way to go about it so as not to keep any unwanted spirits around.

Would throwing them in the trash be enough?

TIA for answering my ??’s

What do YOU think?

  1. I do fell into the occult and after being saved felt led to burn them so my error regardless of being confessed and repented of would not be perpetuated in someone else. It was an awesome evening amongst family and friends and many who did not know much about what the occult was were led by my testimony to know that the occult is satans oldest trick in the book.. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:5 ESV).
    May God bless you all!

If you can burn them so no one else can use them.

If you can’t burn them because it is against the law to burn rubbish in your backyard.

    Tear them up.

    I have an electric shredder.

By all means burn them…Do not put them in the trash where someone else can take them out of the trash & read them…Do not sell them… The Word of God says to burn them as was pointed out in earlier posts.

I spent countless years looking for what was missing in my life. I had many books on occult/ objects. One night my friend invited me to a church service {regular church service} & there I was miraculously saved & received the Holy Spirit immediately {within a few minutes of being born-again}…

I went home that night & burnt all my occult books & anything that pertained to occult {jewelry, pictures, statues} .If things did not burn, they were smashed to pieces. ..I was not told to do this by anyone nor had I read anywhere to burn/smash them but I had a strong urge that this was right…Later I found out that I had done the right thing & I give all the glory to God for directing me to do this…

    Hi mom2006

Look at it this way, it is irrelevant just how you get rid of them, but think about it, the repentance part of destroying them is priceless to you personally.
There is also another aspect of (DESTROYING) (OBLITERATING) (PULVERIZING) anything of the occult, that way there isn’t anything left, that could be used by or coming in contact with, another person, even by accident.
The same as Michael has said, my advise would be shred them, then burn them, send them to the fiery pit where their author will be for all eternity.

    BUT YOU.

    Be Blessed

  6. They burned them in the Bible.

Act 19:18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.
Act 19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
Act 19:20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

What Hitler did or didn’t do does not trump the example given here in the Word of God.
