Understanding Our Position in Christ

Catch the Glorious Fire – by Ps Paul Quadros – Chapter 1

As we seek to understand more about the fire of revival—yearning for it to burn more powerfully in our hearts—we must realize that it doesn’t originate from ourselves. We can neither generate it nor work for the same, but we can catch it from the Presence of God and allow it to flow into the depths of our heart.

The “Glorious fire” cannot be caught unless we understand our position in Christ. As a born again Christian we struggle and strive to be victorious, without knowing that we have already been made victorious through the cross, and that our victory is already won for us.

Jesus said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” And by that will we have been made HOLY through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all (Hebrews 10:9-10) NIV.

“For by one sacrifice, He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” Remember the Bible says we are saved by His Grace alone and not by our works.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Eph 2: 8, 9) NIV

Not only His Grace has saved us, but the salvation we received includes every spiritual blessing in Him (Christ).

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms, because we are united in Christ” (Eph 1:3) NLT

He has chosen us in Him to be holy and blameless and predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ.

“For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be HOLY and BLAMELESS in His sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ in accordance with His pleasure and will—to the praise of His GLORIOUS GRACE, which he has freely given us in the One he loves” (Eph 1:5) NIV

He is our wisdom, holiness, righteousness and redemption.

“It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus who became for us WISDOM from God—that is, our RIGHTEOUSNESS, HOLINESS and REDEMPTION.” (1 Cor 1:30) NIV.

“God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us; that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Cor 5:21) NIV

Hence our salvation (bestowed on us as a free gift) includes our holiness, blamelessness, etc. as we are His sons. We are the branches, and He is the vine. His sap (strength, energy, anointing, power, authority, etc.) flows through us as we abide in Him (trust Him, love Him, fellowship with Him, and learn to obey Him by the power of Holy Spirit). (John15: 1-6) (1John 4:12-16).

Also he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him (1 Cor 6:17). The Bible also tells us we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)

When we are adopted in His family, He has not only given us the position, name and authority of the family but also put in us His very nature! In Gal 2:20 Paul is speaking about our spirit man: it is not I but Christ.

Eph 2:1-9 explains that our salvation which is by grace that includes not only our position in Him, but also our victory!

Even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved) and raised us up and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Eph 2:5-6)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. (Eph 2:8)

So the life we live in the body, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave His life for us (Gal 2:20). It is therefore important for us to put our faith in action by living according to the revelation of the position we have received.

Hence let us pray   (Eph 1:14-21)

The spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us everything he promised and that he has purchased us to be His own people. This is just one more reason for us to praise our glorious God.

Why do we end up empty sometime when we obey God. His promises are sure and true and He even says ask for a fish and he won’t give you a stone, but sometimes we end up empty. Do we continue to ask and knock and ask and knock. What’s really tough is when have an urgent need like healing for sickness, financial breakthrough or even restoration of what the devil stole and things don’t turn out as planned, expected or hoped. What do we do, because we know it’s NOT Gods fault..then why. The eternal question.
