TRUTH found in WORDS

There are words, used by Christians all the time, although not having a full knowledge of them, or possessing a true understanding of how they impact, or relate to our walk with Christ.

Sanctification is not an ongoing process, bringing believers to Perfection.
Sanctification is a Completed Work of Jesus Christ.
Being SANCTIFIED, and PERFECTED, at the moment of Salvation.
Through the forgiveness of Sins that are past, and the indwelling of the Holy Ghost.
Being Preserved Sinless, until the Redemption of the Purchased Possession.

SANCTIFIED:

Heb 10:10
By the which will ( WE ARE SANCTIFIED THROUGH THE OFFERING OF THE BODY OF JESUS CHRIST ) once for all.

Heb 10:14
For by one offering ( HE HAS PERFECTED FOR EVER ) (THEM THAT ARE SANCTIFIED ).

Rom 15:16
That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, ( BEING SANCTIFIED BY THE HOLY GHOST ).

Jud 1:1
Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to ( THEM THAT ARE SANCTIFIED ) by
(GOD THE FATHER), and (PREDERVED IN JESUS CHRIST ), and called:

Eph 1:14
Which is the earnest of our inheritance (UNTIL THE REDEMPTION OF THE PURCHASED POSSESSION), unto the praise of his glory.

SANCTIFICATION:

1Co 1:30
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God (IS MADE UNTO US)
(WISDOM, and RIGHTEOUSNESS, and SANCTIFICATION, and REDEMPTION):

1Th 4:3,4
3) For this is the will of God, (EVEN YOUR SANCTIFICATION), that ye should abstain from fornication:
4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel (IN SANCTIFICATION, and HONOUR);

2Th 2:13
But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning (CHOSEN YOU TO SALVATION) (THROUGH SANCTIFICATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT) and (BELIEF OF THE TRUTH):

1Pe 1:2
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, (THROUGH SANCTIFICATION OF THE SPIRIT), (UNTO OBEDIANCE and SPRINKLING OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST): Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Other words, found in the Christian vocabulary, without having a full understanding, of how they relate to a relationship with Christ.
Justification, is not achieved by works, thereby making believers Holy in the sight of God.
Justification, is a Completed Work of Jesus Christ.
Being JUSTIFIED, by Faith, and the blood of Christ, freely by His Grace, at the moment of Salvation.
Without the deeds of the Law, for forgiveness of Sins that are past, through the Power Holy Spirit.
Until the Day of Redemption, appearing Sinless, unto Salvation

    Rom 5:18
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto (JUSTIFICATION) of life.

  2. warrior daughter says:

Sanctification is God enabling me to become more and more like Jesus…Sanctification is growing in holiness…We are set apart by God at the time of salvation but we have to do our part through prayer and living a holy life.. All of the Godhead (Father, Son, & Holy Spirit) is involved in sanctification

The following are all of the connected definitions for the word (SANCTIFICATION).
Using numbers from “The Strong’s Concordance” as the authority.

      G38
      ἁγιασμός
      hagiasmos
      hag-ee-as-mos’
From G37; properly purification, that is, (the state) purity; concretely (by Hebraism) a purifier: – holiness, sanctification.

      G37
      ἁγιάζω
      hagiazō
      hag-ee-ad’-zo
From G40; to make holy, that is, (ceremonially) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate: – hallow, be holy, sanctify.

      G40
      ἅγιος
      hagios
      hag’-ee-os
From ἅγος hagos (an awful thing) compare G53, [H2282]; sacred (physically pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially consecrated): – (most) holy (one, thing), saint.

      G53
      ἁγνός
      hagnos
      hag-nos’
From the same as G40; properly clean, that is, (figuratively) innocent, modest, perfect: – chaste, clean, pure.

      H2282
      חג חג
      chag châg
      khag, khawg
A festival, or a victim therefor: – (solemn) feast (day), sacrifice, solemnity.

Take note, there have not been any (Future Tenses) of the word Sanctification used, which would denote, an ongoing Sanctification Process taking place. To the contrary, we see in the Hebrew definition, probably the best rendering of the word, whereby it clearly states. (A VICTIM, SACRIFICE).
As opposed to anything, or anybody else would, or even could do, that the Sacrifice hasn’t already done, by the mere fact it is a Sacrifice. Which denotes a work which will be accomplished, by – – – “The Sacrifice”.

      Eph 5:2
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Jesus is the Sacrifice, Christians are in Christ, standing in the Righteousness of Christ.

      Eph 2:9
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Anything a Christian can do, diminishes the Gift.

      Jas 2:18
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Yes Christians should have good works.
But the works spoken of, are not works which add to, or attain anything Jesus did not already accomplish by His Vicarious Death on the cross.

Therefore it isn’t the Believer, or what he does after Salvation, it is already a Completed Work of Christ. Anything done to attain Sanctification, becomes a going back to what Christians have been freed from by Jesus. Constituting a going back to the works of the Law.

Are there Scriptures which would elevate the belief,
      “Sanctification is growing in holiness”
to a Truth which can be found within the Bible?
How can Doctrine be taught, which does not have the foundation of Scripture?
