To Use

What does it mean to use? Does anyone understand the true definition? I mean we all have an idea but what does use mean. What does it mean to God? I asked my self this question today. So, I asked the holy spirit to lead me and tell me the truth. I want to understand. The dictionary gives us this definition:

Now that we have the definition of use I want to look at a scripture in the gospel of Mathew. Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (KJV)

The first part of this scripture says “love your enemies….” When I read this I feel there’s an abundance of places I can go within scripture to learn more about this. However, one I am lead to today is Romans 12:19-21. Here we take this a little deeper into meaning. Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Rom 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

We are urged to show an expression of love to our enemy. We may hate the actions done unto us. Yet we are told that we should overcome evil with good. Which evil is anything that causes suffereing. So if someone hurts you and causes you anger, hurt, sorrow, or unhappiness we can over come this evil with good. There’s a lot of people in this world who get hurt, get angry, for whatever reason and want to get even. Seek vengence. Yet here were told it’s written vengence is mine; I will repay saith the lord. So were not supposed to act out in vengence, rage, or anger but in love. What is love? Well lets take a quick look over to 1 Cor.
1Co 13:4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant
1Co 13:5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
1Co 13:6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
1Co 13:7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (ESV)
We need to show those who hurt us love. If they hunger we should feed them. If they thirst give em a drink.

The next part of the scripture says “Bless them that curse you….” When a person curses you should bless them. Example? When Shimei cursed King David he did not render evil for evil. He blessed him with good words. Treat those that curse you with goodness. All good things come from God. Speak kindly to them. Are you not being as they are if you render hurt for hurt. If someone insults you and you retaliate by calling them something are you not doing as they do. It also doesn’t help the situation. It cause me more evil. More suffering. This is not Gods will for us to cause others to hurt and suffer. Blessing someone doesn’t mean praising them for hurting you. No but it does mean keeping a watch over your own thoughts and mouth. It’s better to be sweet and forgiving.

The next part of the scripture says “Do good to them that hate you….” You can discover hatred by a persons actions. Do not return hate with hate people. It’s not good. Do all you can to help them that hate you. Perform all acts of kindness to those who hate you. Give life. Not death. Hate equals death. By showing kindness you are doing good for their souls are you not? You are showing them an impression of God through you. Kindness. By doing actions of kindness you are drawing closer to God and God is working through you. You will feel happy because you know you have stayed true to God. You are showing your servitude. Which will bring you peace.

The last part of the scripture says “ and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you….” What Jesus is saying here is to do what he has done. As he hung on the cross he prayed for those who were crucifying him. He said “ Father, forgive them they know not what they do.” Doing this he left us an example. His example was direct opposite of the Jews, scribes and pharisees. This is true christainity. I like the part that say despitefully use you. This I can relate to. We’ve all been used have we not? When we look at the definition above we see what use means. Many people take advantage of people to meet their own purposes. Then leave them on the curbside with the morning garbage. This happens a lot in relationships. This unforgiveness will hold you in bondages of anger, spite, hate, and bitterness. Yet were told to pray for those who does this us. Something to think about for real.

I believe that by adding the last part of the scripture to the rest we are learning here what we need to do. I asked God what to do when I feel so used? Now I know what to be used means. Yet I know vengence is not mine. I need to act in love towards others. Yea, it’s hard don’t ya think? However, when we consider Gods position. How many people do you think just use God? They look only to him in times of trouble then use him to get out of this situation. Then don’t seek him till the next. What does God do? He shows us all love. He is compassionate. We should be the same as him. It’s way off the beaten path of the world. I don’t know how many times I’ve been told “Barbie, seriously you just let people use you. You need to stop being so kind to others.” Hmmmm, what would happen if God wasn’t so kind? I am afraid to imagine a world without his kindness. Were kind because we choose to be like God. Don’t repay evil for evil. Two wrongs don’t make a right unless your doing Algebra. Think about it be blessed everyone!!!!
