The Second Coming of Christ

When shall Christ return? What happens after He returns? Does the Church go through the Great tribulation? Is there a third return of Christ? What about the rapture? All these Questions can be answered from the scriptures! Please feel free to comment on this subject. I would be glad of your input on the subject!

The Second Coming of Christ

How Christ will return at the Second Coming….
And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they were looking steadfastly toward Heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, ‘Ye men of Galilee; why stand ye gazing up into Heaven? This same Jesus which is taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into Heaven’. Acts 1:9-l l.

Christ will return at the second coming in the clouds together with His angels. Jesus was taken up into heaven by a cloud, and He will return in the clouds. The clouds refer to the angels of God that surround Him as can be seen in Hebrew parallelism. Jesus Himself promised that He would return with the clouds (the angels).

…who maketh the clouds his chariots; who walketh upon the wings of the wind. Psalm 104:3

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30

…the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels. 2 Thessalonians 1:7

When the Son of man shall come in His glory and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory. Matthew 25:31

…when He shall come in His own glory, and in His Father’s and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26

Jesus Christ and His Second Coming is quite literal as the Bible makes quite clear…

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds…”

Jesus is coming to take us to what He explained clearly…

Jesus Christ Himself promised, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2-3.

Those who witnessed Christ’s ascension into heaven after his death and resurrection heard the angels declare how He would come back as we saw in Acts 1:11, “this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven.”

The Second Coming of Christ will also be in “like manner” as He was seen ascending into the heavens, but this time, every eye will see Him which is confirmed in the following verse.

Revelation 1:7 “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

The Second Coming of Jesus will not only be inescapably visible by all but it will also be spectacular and tremendous world event.

Matthew 24:27-31 “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

There is no Secret Rapture, the false doctrine somne believe that there will be a time when Jesus Christ will first come secretly to remove all believers from the earth, then they say that those left behind will have to endure a supposed seven year tribulation period of which there is no such scripture stating seven years of tribulation to be found anywhere in the Bible. It is a false teaching, which leaves people unsure of salvation an open to accepting false christs, and this false teaching just does not exist in scripture.

The Second Coming is the event when Jesus Christ returns to the earth with all His Holy angels to take all those that are His home. At this point, the earth is totally destroyed and meets with “sudden destruction.”

2 Peter 3:10 “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”

This is no secret taking or disaapearance of people being described. Its unexpected like a “thief in the night” but it will be clearly be a worldwide event as Christ comes in all His power and glory to take His saints to heaven.

After Paul gives 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord…”

Look whah Paul says would happen next…

1 Thessalonians 5:2-4 “…For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.”

As you can see, the same phrase of a “thief in the night” is used in which those who are not ready for their Saviour will be surprised as they are going about unprepared for the event and meet with “sudden destruction … and they shall not escape.”

Christ warned against false comings of Christ that would not be universally visible.

Wherefore, if they shall say unto you, Behold he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:26,27

Behold He cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see Him. Revelation 1:7

The Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout and the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God… I Thessalonians 4:16

The Lord will not come down to the earth, but will meet the redeemed in the sky…..

For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17

And He will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. Matthew 24:31 NIV

  1. what do you want to prove here? If we don’t understand something, it doesn’t mean that it is false. Our intentions, lack of understanding and knowledge might also be a block to know the truth. we believe what is there in Bible and you believe what is out of bible. I agree the fact that opinion differs but truth is the same. If you want to argue or if you try to prove ur point better stop making fun and go on for a healthy discussion.

    • Well for one thing, when Christ comes its going to be seen by every eye, that lays the lie to the ‘secret rapture’ which many spread about but scripture does not support.

  2. The first coming was a bit of a non-event. Jesus could have told us about all sorts of things that would have made the world a safer and better place. All he did was perform a few party tricks and cure a few people who came to him for help.

I still don’t understand the whole, Jesus, son of God, holy spirit trinity, wafers becoming Christ’s flesh stuff. As I see it only one out of three of the major books actually acknowledges Jesus existance. Why would God send himself, as his son to atone for the sin of people that He created? Either God created the imperfection by mistake or he did it deliberately knowing that he would have to deal with it later by impregnating a virgin. Couldn’t he have just wiped the slate clean from Heaven and put an advert in the papers?
