Do you take this promise of Jesus seriously?

This morning, while reading the Bible, God challenged me through this verse: ‘And whatever you ask in My name, that I WILL do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask ANYTHING in My name, I WILL do it’ (John 14:13,14). God really challenged me with these questions: Mari, do you […]

Presumption versus Prophecy from the Lord

In Deutoronomy 18:20-22 (NKJV) we read: “But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ 21 And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— 22 when […]

The Reason for Communion – Don’t Forget Him! He longs for you!

Today God dropped a message in my heart. The reason for communion. Why did Jesus setup communion? He said it was so we will remember Him. Why do we need to do something often to remember Him? Why? What is God’s reason and why does it matter so much to Him that He wants us […]

The Sin of Prayerlessness

As Christians we are dealing with a Living God who offers to live inside our hearts and who gives us every spiritual blessing that there is (Ephesians 1:3). So allow me to ask, “How are we treating our God?” We make time for the things we like. We make time for the things which we […]

Growing Pains in the Early Church

I was reading this morning once again the passage from Acts Chapter 6:1-7, which talks about a problem the Early Church encountered. Basically what happened this. On the Day of Pentecost, a lot of Jewish people from the Diaspora had come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feasts, and they believed the gospel as Peter and […]

Fervent Prayer Gets Results

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16, KJV) “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” (James 5:16, NASB) Whichever translation you prefer, the message is clear. If you live right with God, and you pray with all your heart, your prayers can make a huge difference. Satan […]

The Lord’s Prayer – by Ian Vincent – Part 5 of Reality Church

5. The Lord’s Prayer After this manner therefore pray: Our Father who is in heaven, May your name be hallowed, May your kingdom come, May your will be done in the earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today our food as you always do. And forgive us for our sins, as we forgive those who sin […]

Commentary on the Book of Colossians 1:9

In a previous article we looked at the background of the book of Colossians and unpacked some of the thoughts in verses 1 to 8 of the first chapter. Continuing on from verses 9 onwards we read:  For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, […]

We Must Deal with Issues if We Want God to Hear Us when We Pray

I enjoyed listening to a teaching from Ps Jim Cymbala on "Obedience in Prayer". I highly recommend you get hold of his video teaching on prayer if you are able to. In any case, he makes the point that sin can cut off the flow of power in prayer. There could be a wide variety of issues that might render your praying useless or put you in a place where you cannot hear the voice of God.
