Well according to this CNN article the Democrats in the US have won the House in Congress and are almost certainly going to win the Senate. So now the Republicans cannot push their legislation through without co-operation from the other party. Both Republicans and Democrats are interested in expanding the beast of secular government, so as believers we need to be watchful and prayerful.

The congressional elections are coming up in America in a couple of days, and many evangelical Christians will be hoping that the Republicans will win. Republicans are seen as more Christian by a lot of evangelicals and so they tend to give their vote to the Republicans. Because I have a Christian website I get spam mail from Republican political activists, I get on their mailing lists and so on.

What should be the guiding principles behind the relationship of the church with secular governments? Should the church seek to control the government, or should the church seek to support the government in the interest of nationalism (or internationalism)? Should the church seek to influence government policy and draft laws for the betterment of society? Should the church seek government finances in order to expand its social programs? How can we tell if a government is truly worthy of our support?
