Algeria Persecutes Christians

Five people were sentenced earlier in June for charges related preaching Christian doctrine and public order offences by virtue of the on the religious practice in Algeria approved by the government in 2006. The sentences vary between one year sentence with no remission and one year suspended sentence with a 5000 AD fine.

Public authorities started implementing the legal texts ruling the religious practice in Algeria. Five people are to be tried for Christian doctrine preaching as well as public order offending.

Chhattisgarh, August 29 (News) – Two pastors were arrested on charges of “hurting religious feelings” and fraudulent conversion on August 26 after Hindu extremists and police disrupted a church’s Sunday worship following the baptism of five converts in Chhattisgarh state. Arun Pannalal, general secretary of the Chhattisgarh Christian Forum, said extremists from the Dharam Sena entered the church shouting anti-Christian slogans and, accompanied by police, made allegations of forcible conversion where 52 people were worshipping in Bhilai sector, Durg district.

Baptist and Pentecostals persecuted in Uzbekistan

A small Baptist congregation in Uzbekistan is under fire again from authorities.

The charge is failing to comply with a mandatory registration requirement. The church flock in Khalkabad near Pap in the eastern Namangan Region of Uzbekistan was harassed four years ago for not registering its activities with authorities.

Uzbekistan is in Central Asia, north of Afghanistan.

Some of the South Korean Christian aid workers held hostage by Afghanistan’s Taliban said they were beaten for refusing to convert to Islam and protecting female captives, a hospital chief said Monday

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN : — A Protestant Bishop and his wife were killed in their home in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Wednesday night, August 29.
