Investing is Good

God Himself often speaks in investment terms, and there is nothing inherently sinful in investing. That is not to say that it is O.K. for a Christian to invest in just anything – it would be wrong to invest in a tobacco company, a brothel or a casino since all these things tend to destroy people for the sake of company profit. But there are many companies or assets which may be good to invest in, some of which are currently underpriced relative to their true value.

In Isaiah 5 God speaks in terms of a vineyard, in which a lot of labour was invested, and sadly produced sour grapes.

Resources for the Lord’s Work

I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me … Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.

God’s desire for us to Prosper

In this article I want to emphasize how God does want to do good things for us. We can believe this even in the face of terrible pain we may have been suffering, for reasons I outline below.
God has made us in such a way that when our bodies and minds are not in a right way, we normally feel pain. Its also normal to feel pain when we suffer some kind of loss – financial loss, the loss of a loved one, or rejection by someone we like.

Why I do what I do

At my very core I am convinced that there is a God and that He has revealed Himself in history through Jesus Christ. There is plenty of historical evidence, and testimonial evidence for the reality of Jesus Christ. I’ve never seen Him personally, though I know quite a few people who claim to have seen Him. And these people seem to be pretty consistent in their witness of Jesus Christ.

I have experienced the power of God in my life and have witnessed miracles worked through my own hands that I have virtually no intellectual understanding of.

The Nature of this Blog

This blog will not be a place for me to expound doctrine, but rather a place in which to express my own thoughts on a variety of issues that are important to me at the time. Some of these issues will be biblical issues and others will be my views on some of the things I observe in the global culture. I hope it will make interesting reading for others.

First post

Well folks, I am just testing this new blogging software. I have now worked out how to avoid conflicts with the Topictree software I am using in another part of the site. Though I’ve been writing for the web for some time I’ve never taken the time to investigate blogging, so we’ll see how this works out.

My name is Michael Fackerell. Born in 1965, I’ve been a Christian since 1984, and this blog is part of my site, which began in 1997 and was established in its current domain in the year 2000.

In this blog I will be writing about things which are of interest to many people, Christians in particular. My goal here is to help my readers become more successful – primarily in eternal terms but also in terms of this life, however that may be possible.

At the time of writing I’m in India, but I travel in Australia, the U.A.E. and other nations.
