False Practices / Philosophies

I believe its important to also expose some of the false practices and philosophies at work in the church, and this is the section of the site for it.

False Teachers and Teachings

“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” (Jude 3)

Like Jude, the brother of the Lord, I prefer to emphasize the positive truths of the Word of God, but the fact is that we are also told to CONTEND earnestly for the FAITH (Jude 3) WARN people and REBUKE ERROR (2 Timothy 3:16).

Discerning False Teachings

These are the last days, and we are living in the spiritually perilous times predicted by the apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. People are lover of self, money and pleasure yet hold a form of Christianity, thinking that having this form is enough.

It is significant because these are the amongst the last recorded words of the apostle Paul. In the next and last chapter of 2 Timothy, Paul writes:

Did Benny Hinn give false prophecies?

We like to believe in our christian heroes, especially those who seem to be so much more anointed than your average Christian. But with greater exposure comes greater accountability. The ability to raise funds and buy lots of TV time does not constitute God’s endorsement. If raising money was proof of God’s favour, then the Roman Catholics, the Mormons and the various gurus like Sathya Sai Baba would clearly have God’s favour even more than the most “anointed” televangelist.

On Speculating on End-time Events

Back in 1986 I developed some interest in end-time events. What I have noticed over the years is that we can always construct an interesting theory that suggests that Jesus is coming back next year, or Real Soon Now. Six day theories, pre-trib rapture theories are modified from year to year by self-appointed “prophets” and others who find the whole thing so fascinating.

I have read _highly plausible_ and interesting theories interpreting Daniel, Revelation and other Scriptures – the only trouble is they contradict each other in many points.

Choo Thomas – Heaven is so real

I just finished watching a video of this Choo Thomas talking about “Heaven is so Real”. I am a pentecostal and believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and have witnessed many powerful manifestations of God, but in my view, these revelations are not of God.

Its not that I believe that its impossible for a believer to visit heaven or hell in this life. I believe its happened in some cases and I’ve even helped publicise such accounts.

Choo Thomas of course includes Scripture and gospel truth in her account, and this no doubt will give the message some credibility.

False Prophets and False Teachers

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:15,16).

This is the commandment of Jesus. Ignore it at your peril.

Many ministers of the gospel start off well, with a genuine call of God. But somewhere along the line, Satan comes in with an offer, just as he did to Jesus.

Delivered from Mormon Deception

Michael, thank you for your insight on whether or not Christians can have demons. I appreciate that there are Christians who will take my experience at face value rather than wondering if I was truly a Christian when this devil entered me. I know there is great controversy on this subject among Christian scholars but for those of us who have experienced deliverance, there is no question as to whether or not a Christian can have a demon.
