Principles to Make your Home Group Grow

The Holy Spirit has been putting great emphasis on the use of small groups for discipleship, outreach and other purposes. This is not surprising, especially when you consider that there are so many commands in the New Testament relating to things we do “one to another”. How can we love one another as Jesus loved his disciples (John 13:34,35) unless there is an environment in which close relationships can develop?

The Example of Jesus

Jesus spent a lot of time with his disciples, because he loved them. They were with him both in public and in private.

Our Mission as Christians – Evangelism, Discipling, Teaching and Loving

Introduction

The time has come in our series of lessons to consider carefully the main purpose which God has for leaving us here on earth after we are saved. If you think about it carefully, you will realise that we can know God better in heaven than here on earth. The praise and worship is better in heaven, the presence of God is stronger, the blessings are greater. So why has God left us on earth? The reason is this: to bring others to a saving knowledge of God.

Money and Responsible Handling of Resources

Our series of studies would not be complete without considering the principles by which a true disciple of Jesus should be guided in the matter of responsibly and biblically handling the natural resources which God has given to each one. In this study we will consider Biblical principles that apply to the way we handle the time, money and talents we have received from God. Most of us would like more resources – more free time, more money and more abilities.

HARVEST

John 4: 35: ‘Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for
harvest!”

LIFTING UP THE NAME OF JESUS

John 12: 32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

OUR MANDATE FROM JESUS CHRIST

1.

Spiritual Warfare Praying

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against
spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Real Christians are involved in a spiritual conflict. This is a fight in which guns and tanks are of no use. Paul said, “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood”. The conflict is not with people, or nations, but with Satan and his demons. We need to recognise that many times when people oppose us, the reason behind it is spiritual.
