The Importance of Prayer

There is a God. He created the world and set up certain rules by which the world is regulated. God keeps His own rules. He limits His involvement on earth in some respects. He has CHOSEN to limit His involvement in such a way that our PRAYERS make a difference. There are good things that […]

Does being Saved by Grace through Faith mean God does it all?

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Eph. 2:8-9 I want to take a close look at this particular verse and the history behind it for it has long been used by the Calvinist to […]

Why You Cannot Fit God in A Calvinist Box

Why you Cannot Fit God in a Calvinist Box

Calvinists come in, I suppose,  many forms and levels. A typical Calvinist is likely to believe divine election based on God’s right to choose without question, anyone He wishes for salvation.  Most believe it is impossible to lose their salvation and that God, the moment they express their faith and are born again by the Spirit, are sealed eternally for heaven.  This may sound like a good thought and a good Idea but of course not a biblical Idea as we shall see.

Did “Saint” Augustine pray to Mary?

"Saint" Augustine of Hippo (354-430) was an extremely prolific write of the 4th and 5th century. After living an extremely ungodly life full of sexual sin, he converted to Christianity and later became the Bishop of Hippo, a North African colony.

The Dangers of Applied Calvinism

I want to preface all this by saying that some people who would call themselves Calvinists or Reformed Theologians are NOT what I would call practitioners of "Applied Calvinism". They are actually very loving and caring people who believe in the Great Commission and do something for it. At the same time, some Pentecostals and Arminians certainly seem to be "Applied Calvinists" in the sense that they show little or no concern for the state of humanity and the glory of God. What interests God is FAITH that results in OBEDIENCE to the revealed Will of God.

Calvinism vs Arminianism

Calvinism is a system of theology popularized by the French Reformer Jean Calvin. It is also popularly known as "Reformed Theology". In Calvinism, the ultimate eternal destination of all people was predetermined by God before the world was made, on the basis of God's own sovereign choice ALONE. Calvinism is a deterministic system in which it is believed that everything that happens was foreordained and engineered by God – even our repentance, our faith responses, our choices.
