Who we are:
2 Corinthians 5:17 (New King James Version)
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
For ye are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Where we are:
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, 6 and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body (Christ) – whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free – and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.
What we are:
Free in Christ – John 8:36 ‘Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.’
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entagled again with a yoke of bondage.
Strangers in the world – 1 Peter 2:11 ‘Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.’
What we are not:
Not of the world – ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews, but now My kingdom is not from here.
What we have:
Eternal life – 1 John 5:13
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
Salvation -John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Victory – John 16:33
‘These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.’
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumpgh in Christ
What we will have:
4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
What we are to do:
Continue in Him – Colossians 1:21-23
21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight – 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard.
Walk in Him
6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
Many of these truths need to be taken ahold of before we reap what they provide, this happens as the Holy Spirit reveals these things to us and we meditate on the significance of these truths. And claim what is ours in Christ.
Even the simple truth that in Christ we are not slaves to various harrassing fears can give us the position , authority and power through the Holy Spirit to reject these things and walk in freedom from such things in Christ. ‘You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free’ (John 8:32). The devil wants no more than to keep us under lies and deception, harassing, tormenting us in order to steal, kill and destroy from us. I’m only recently coming out of bondage of these lies, and I cannot express how amazing the freedom in Christ is when breakthrough occurs. It also makes me realise just how evil satan is and how deceptive his kingdom is. Thanks be to Christ, in whom we have the victory.
Now to worship God a bit 🙂 –
God, you are the Everlasting One! Your glory endures forever, your wonders are never ending, May You be praised on High! Lord God we thank you for everything that you have so richly given us in Christ Jesus. We pray that you would help us to take ahold of the victory that is in Christ and come into all that you have for us in Him. We pray for revelation as to who we are and what we have in Christ, and that you would keep us abiding in Christ. We also pray that you would firmly root and establish us in Christ. In Jesus precious name we pray. Amen.
