Some Great Promises of God

I think it would be great to look at some of the powerful promises of God. Here is one:

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them” (Hebrews 10:16)

One of the greatest promises God makes us – and He calls this the NEW covenant – is that He will put His laws in our hearts, and write them in our minds.

Ask God to do that for you, if you have not already done so. It will help a lot.

When God does this, pleasing Him and conforming to His will becomes something we do gladly, with pleasure, because it is in our hearts.

“then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” (Hebrews 10:17)

We have all done sinful and lawless deeds. Isn’t it great to know that when we are in the New Covenant, God does not remember these sins and lawless deeds. But I would suggest it is not safe to assume this promise applies to you if the first part about God writing his law in your heart and mind isn’t real to you. The second promises is an addition to the first, not a substitute for it.

“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be [continually] filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18)

God’s commandments are also promises that He will enable us, especially this one, because in the Greek, the tense indicates that this being filled is something which you allow God to do to you.

Being filled the Spirit of God is the condition of God’s perfect working in your life.

It makes all the fruit develop faster and all the gifts work more powerfully.

” If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

God promises both forgiveness AND cleansing to us if we confess our sins. Do not listen to the false grace teachers who tell you that this verse is not for you, that it was written only to gnostics, or other hogwash doctrines like that. The false grace teachers would then keep you from the very thing that would enable you to access God’s grace, cleansing and forgiveness. It is very serious.

I would like you to concentrate though on the positive side of this. God is faithful, and not only faithful, but also just and righteous in forgiving our sins when we are honest with Him and confess them. Confession is also the key to being actually cleansed so that the sins committed no longer have a defiling effect on our minds, bodies and consciences.

This is a great promise from God, and one we need to use often, especially in our early days as Christians learning to live a new way and break free of what formerly held us in bondage.
