Some Christian Pastors will go to Hell

There is a very interesting passage in Luke 12:42-48 concerning servants of God and what Jesus will do to them when He returns.

The Lord said, "Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the right times?

Blessed is that servant whom his lord will find doing so when he comes.

Truly I tell you, that he will set him over all that he has.

But if that servant says in his heart, 'My Lord delays his coming,' and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken, then the Lord of that servant will come in a day when he isn't expecting him, and in an hour that he doesn't know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.

That servant, who knew his Lord's will, and didn't prepare, nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes, but he who didn't know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.

The Lord Jesus Christ is Lord of the Church. He is telling his disciples here that He is looking for FAITHFULNESS, WISDOM and TRUE SERVANTHOOD from the leaders He puts in His church.

I am sure that there are many false churches with false priests (so called) who never knew Jesus personally at all. These people will not escape God's judgment. But according to Jesus, there will actually be those who started off as GOD'S SERVANTS and who recognise Jesus as Lord – but who will be assigned a place with the unfaithful, with unbelievers (NKJV) at the coming of the Lord! Why? Because they became spiritual abusers of the people of God.

Such pastors, who have been assigned by God to feed His own precious people with vital spiritual food (anointed relevant pure teaching of the Word of God), start to think that the time when Jesus will return is a long way off. They therefore lose the fear of God and start to mistreat the people of God, and concentrate on feeding their own desires instead of taking a vital interest in the well-being of the people of God. I don't think God has a problem with pastors eating and drinking! We all need to eat and drink. But this is referring to a kind of self-indulgent way of living – "and to be drunken". Pastors must be sober minded because they are going to give account for the souls entrusted by God to their care.

The way SOME pastors talk, they think they have a kind of divine right to go around hurting people. The role of the people in this process is "not to take offense", but continue to be "loyal to the house" and to "get over it" etc. Indeed, forgiveness is not an option for those who have been hurt and wounded by selfish ambitious leaders. But trust has to be earned, and it can be lost. Sadly, some people continue to allow themselves to be "beaten up" by pastors who have stopped serving the Living God and have started to serve their own bellies. Jesus tells us exactly what the fate of these pastors will be.

I am also aware that there are people who will take offense at anything, and don't have the kind of graciousness and humility required to make allowances for lack of social skills which a pastor may OCCASIONALLY exhibit. Some people take offense based on a complete misinterpretation of the facts also. Such people will destroy themselves if they make a mountain out of a molehill and break fellowship with the church over petty offenses. You can't go around destroying the reputation of God's true servants and damaging relationships in the Body of Christ and expect God to smile from heaven down at you.

But Jesus is not addressing THAT issue here. What He is addressing is SERVANTS of God who turn away and become unfaithful.

In spite of all the unbiblical Scripture twisting that Once Saved Always Saved teachers will spout, it is abundantly plain in the teachings of Jesus that disciples of Jesus can lose their salvation through sin that they enter into and do not repent of.

This danger extends even to Christian leaders. No amount of faithful service to God in the past will give you or any Christian leader a free pass to sin and escape the terrifying future judgments of God, which come upon the unrepentant.

Can we dare to just let the passage say what it says?

the Lord of that servant will come in a day when he isn't expecting him, and in an hour that he doesn't know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.

So, then, are you confident that you will be entering heaven if the Lord CUTS YOU IN TWO and assigns your portion with unbelievers and hypocrites? Revelation 21:8 teaches that such people will be thrown into the Lake of Fire.

Paul the apostle had Christian workers who forsook him. Demas was one such example. I am sure that Demas was called by God and served the apostolic team in many ways, but a love for this present age was growing in him. And one day, probably in a day of pressure and crisis, Demas had had enough of serving God, and he went off to serve his own lusts and pride in this present world system.

If it can happen to an associate of the apostle Paul, it could happen to YOU or YOUR PASTOR. So PRAY that it won't happen. Pray for yourself that you enter not into temptation! Pray for your pastor that he won't enter into the snares of the devil!

Jesus taught us to pray "Lead us not into temptation" but how many of us are doing this on a regular basis from the heart? We would be well advised to do that which God instructs us to do.

Knowing the will of God is not enough. Jesus here plainly teaches that a servant who knows his master's will and does not prepare himself or do according to His will is going to be BEATEN with many stripes – lashes. Its a picture of the destruction that is coming on some who are so confident that God has given them a free pass to abuse and lord it over HIS heritage. May God help us to walk in the fear of GOD especially if we are serving in a position of Christian leadership.
