  1. lookinforacity says:

    Hi Matt

    1) Elect
These examples of the Elect are the Jews, of that time, and generation, the remnant of Israel, spoken of.

    Mat 24:22
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

    Mat 24:31
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

    Mat 24:34
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

    Rom 11:5
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

    Rom 11:7
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded

    1Co 10:11
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

This example of Chosen is the only one that speaks to any kind of a people, the other references are kind of vague, but this one still seems to be in relation to the people of that time, but this time it looks like they are Gentiles being spoken of, the other verses concerning Chosen, appear to be in relation to the Apostles, or Christ Himself.

    2) chosen

    1Pe 2:9-10
    9) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
    10) Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Therefore in my estimation, the words Elect, and Chosen are referring to the peoples of the time of Christ, and the first century Church, in particular, the Jews of that Generation, but the Chosen are the Gentiles, all of them both Jews and Gentiles of the first century, Church.
