Prayers to Speak Well

PRAYERS TO REFRAIN FROM EVIL SPEAKING

Lord, you said, "What comes out of his mouth, this defiles a man." (Matt. 15:11)

Lord, I pray that I treasure good things, not evil things, in my heart, and that out of the abundance of the good things in my heart my mouth speaks. (Mt. 12:35)

I pray that I speak evil of no man. (Titus 3:2)

DON'T SLANDER

Lord, you told me not to go up and down as a talebearer, gossip or slanderer among the people. (Lev. 19:16)

I pray I will never raise a false report. In fact, help me to never pass one on. (Ex. 23:14)

I thank you that you help me, Lord, to put away all evil speaking, that I speak no evil of a brother, and lay aside all evil speakings. (Eph. 4:31; James 4:11; 1 Peter 2:1)

Help me Lord, where necessary, to debate my cause with my neighour himself, and never to tell the secret to another first. (Pr. 25:9)

Lord, you said that he who utters a slander is a fool. I don't want to be a fool in your eyes. (Pr. 10:18)

I pray Lord that whatsoever things are … pure … lovely … if there be any VIRTUE, I think on these things. (Php. 4:8)

I pray that I not backbite, nor take up a reproach against my neighbour. (Ps. 15:1,3)

I pray that I do everything without complaining or arguing. (Php 2:14)

I pray that I do not threaten those under my authority. (Eph. 6:8)

I pray that I do not not dig up evil and put it on my lips. (Pr. 16:27)

I pray that I shun profane and vain babblings: for they increase unto more ungodliness. (2 Tim. 2:16)

Let me not even resemble an idly chattering fool, for such will fall. (Pr. 10:10)

I pray I do not speak obscenity or foolish talking or coarse jesting, but rather giving of thanks. (Eph 5:4)

Lord, the perverse, defiant, contrary, complaining mouth I hate. (Pr. 8:13)

Lord, keep me from feeding on foolishness. (Pr. 15:14)

Lord, keep me from deceiving others and then saying I was just joking. (Pr. 26:18,19)

Lord, keep me from lying. (Col. 3:9)

Lord, I put away from me a deceitful mouth, and perverse lips far from me. (Pr. 4:24)

Lord, I pray that all the words of my mouth be in righteousness; there must be nothing froward or perverse in them. (Pr. 8:8,9)

Keep me Lord from a flattering mouth, which works ruin. (Pr. 26:28)

I pray Lord that I bless those who curse me. (Lk. 6:28)

Father, I pray that I bless those who persecute me; I must bless and not curse. (Rom. 12:14)

Father, help me to always speak sound speech, which cannot be condemned. (Tit. 2:8)

Father, I pray I do not judge others, that I be not judged. (Mt. 7:1)

Father help me never to return evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, let me return blessing. (1 Peter 3:9)

Lord, keep me from quarrelling. Let me be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition. (2 Tim. 2:24,25)

Keep me Lord from harsh words, which stir up anger. (Pr. 15:1)

Keep me Lord from dealing falsely, or lying to another.

I pray that I will not be a witness against my neighbour without cause, nor deceive with my lips. (Pr. 24:28)

Lord, I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. (Pr. 17:3)

Lord, keep me from sinning with my tongue. (Ps. 39:1)

Lord, If I ever think evil, I must put my hand upon my mouth. (Pr. 30:32)

Help me Father not to curse the king, no, not in my thought. (Ecc. 10:20)
