Prayer for Personal Salvation

Please note: this prayer is NOT a magic formula. To be saved and reconciled to God you need to realize that you must give up your rebellion against God and His laws, and that you need to cast yourself totally into the hands of God, because you cannot save yourself, sufficiently change yourself or do something to pay for or atone for your past. All of us had to realize this.

O Father God in Heaven, I come to you because I need your forgiveness. I have done wrong. I confess to you all my sins . I deserve to die for them. I cannot save myself. But I thank you for dying on the cross to take away the guilt and evil in my life. Jesus, save me! Cleanse me! Forgive me! I believe in my heart that God raised you from the dead. From now on I receive you and confess you openly as my Lord, Master and Savior. I receive the gift of righteousness from you by faith. Change me Jesus more and more each day to be like you. Be Lord of my spirit, soul and body. Break the power of sin from my life.

As you forgive me, I now forgive all that have hurt me. I turn away from all evil. I renounce Satan and any areas of influence he has in me for any reason (name the areas you know about). In the name of Jesus Christ I command all evil power to leave me now. I purpose now to never accept you evil powers back in my life.

I thank you Father that I am now a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ. I am born again. I am a new person. My sins are forgiven. I am part of the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ lives in me and through me. Thank you Father for the gift of eternal life!

Dear Holy Spirit, I trust you to lead me in the Word of God and prayer every day. Help me to obey the voice of God and fully accomplish God’s purposes for my life. Amen.

  5. tiagih16 says:

I was brought up in a Christian household. The problem is the older I get the more things become tempting and the more sin I commit. I know what the bible says however sometimes I feel like I don’t care but inside I really do. I try and talk to God but I don’t think he wants to hear the voice of a sinner. I try and repent for my sins but it is hard but I don’t have anyone to help me. I believe in Jesus I just not saved…yet.

    • Walk in the Light says:

Hi tiagih16, I felt I should write to encourage you with Jesus’ own words: John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me.” I can sense that the Lord is fighting for your heart… but my question to you is, are your fighting for His? Having been brought up Christian can be good, and can be bad, depending on the emphasis and understanding your parents had of God’s love & His priorities. If you have learnt from them and/or other Christians that we are only worthwhile as long as we “do the right thing” then you will think that God rejects you if you fail to meet His standards. Unfortunately, this is very common and is light-years from the truth: “When we were without strength, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6. For those who have this misconception, usually their guilty feelings leave them with the impression that God doesn’t hear their prayers, and they get discouraged.

The truth is that God’s gift of salvation is for you no matter how much you sin or what you think of yourself. Why? Because He sees you as He intends for you to be one day – you are valuable to Him by virtue of the fact that He created you. Your failings can never impact the vision He has of you and for you. Sin is usually a feeble attempt to give short-term happiness or satisfaction, to mask the aching void in the human heart. Well, guess what? You are the same as everyone else in that respect!!! That is why I need Jesus just as much as you do, even though my sin may be completely different than yours. Sometimes, if sin is persistent, you need to look past the sin and try to find the reason that you would keep making the wrong choices.

I encourage you to fight for God’s heart, and pray to see yourself as He sees you. Ask God for this. You will need to read God’s word because this is the most powerful way for God to answer that prayer for you. In all you do, ask for the leading of the Holy Spirit.

      Blessings

  6. Counsellor says:

    Dear Clair

Thank God you did not sleep on the streets. I don’t think you went hungry either, Maybe you did not eat your favourite food, but we can assure that things will work out for good, as long as we love God, and follow his leading.

You have a mess, and once you come through it, you will have a message. How strong is your desire to come thorough this? I believe you really don’t want to ever go through it again.
As much as we desire a spiritual intervention, we also need to be practical. As long as your husband is not working, and you are bringing home the money, makes it tremendously difficult on you. Your husband does not only need a deliverance, he also needs encouragement, and lots of love, from you. He is a divorcee, with previous pain, and also has lots of baggage to overcome.
I urge you to go to the throne room of God, and speak to Him like a Daddy. (yes, he is a Daddy). After all, he is the best Father that you will ever find. Confess your faults to Him, and repent. Ask for His divine intervention. He is not deaf, and will hear your cry. I urge you genuinely speak to him from your emotions. He understands your situation, and he is there to help you. Make commitments to Him, not promises, as we fail from time to time, and feel condemned. Once you do so, surround yourself with support, mainly a spiritual friend, a female one please, and also some practical support to understand where you are. A problem told is a problem half solved.
You are where you are because of your choices, and we must live with them. Your children are a gift from God. Appreciate them, and love them. Don’t entertain bitterness in any form. It will destroy you. Don’t plan for a 3rd, until you can resolve these issues. Ask God for Wisdom, and read His Word daily, even in small bite sizes through out the day. I personally find it easier to pray three times a day for five minutes at a time. It takes time to develop good habits.
Your hubby must shape up, otherwise he will eventually ship out. You will dislike him as long as he does not show any responsibility. This is the practicality of the situation. He needs professional assistance as well. I am not one for believing in this deliverance ministry, as we sometimes do more harm. One needs to be wise. I say again, pray for wisdom and direction. I propose your husband starts to read the book of proverbs, and you concentrate on the Psalms. I too come from cigarettes, drinking, marijuana, etc. It takes a made up mind which is tired of the mess he is in, and then decide to move in God. He must make up his mind to stand up, and do good in the eyes of men, to regain his reputation. I also urge you to focus on his strengths, and feed his ego. I mean to really feed it where he can remember that he is not designed to be a failure. This will awaken his senses to stand up and encourage him to do good. The prodigal son wasn’t necessarily delivered. He realised his current mess, and knew he had screwed up badly. He simply went back home. Where was his true deliverance? The answer was in his father’s acceptance of him. My son was dead, and now he is alive…. I am praying that your family will make the right choice, and that is to return to the fellowship of God, and surround yourself with the fellowship of good friends.

It’s probably sounds to easy, but it’s not. BUT, what I can assure you, is as long as we a heavenly minded, we MUST also be earthly good, and remain practical. God will NOT bless your husband while he remains idle. Please encourage him, and feed his ego as well.

    Yours to a victorious life.

PS: Don’t give money to any televangelist who makes you bogus promises, example… BH.

Thank you Councillor for your wise advise…
I am glad I shared my problems and I intend make the right decisions.

  7. Claire Inambao says:

Hi my name is Claire and turn 30 on the 22nd of this month…I have had a christian upbringing and later on became born again in my late teens, but I have drifted away from God every now and again.
The bible says’where two or more are gathered in my name , I will be in the midst’…
I need for women and men of God to advise and pray for me as i shed light into my situation…
I am engaged to a gentleman with whom I have a Iyr 2mth old lovely boy…I am expecting our second child in July…
At the moment I feel overwelmed because he is an alcoholic and currently not working…he decided to resign from work according to him because he was unhappy at work and was missing out on his son because he also had to work in another city…this was about june last year and he has struggled to get a job since…He is divorced by the way, he couldn’t keep up with the car and bond payments and therefore lost the car, the house was sold on auction and we were ordered to move out of our home just before X-mass…we had just over a week to find a place with hardly any money…I currently work as a sales executive in the motor industry my income mostly depends on comission, at the moment the indusstry is suffering tremendously…At times I don’t make enough money to carry us through the month…however I still thank God that I at least have a job…
I cannot but help to have feelings of resentment towards my fiance because I feel its his fault for our financial crisis…i also suspect he may have lost his job because of his drinking and the reason he is struggling to get a job is , he has built a bad name for himself and no one will refer…but then I might be wrong…
I feel unchristian because am begining to dislike him…
He became born again late last year and I thank God for that…he also underwent deliverence for his drinking…but he always goes back to the bottle as an escape for his problems I suppose…please help me in prayer for him to stop drinking…he is a good man with alot of potential and has lost so much at the hand of the bottle..
When I found out I was pregnant with our second child, I’ll admit with shame that the thought crossed my mind to abort this child, for how could I bring another child into this world …into this mess
Deep down I know why I have managed to hold on..its coz I have faith even if its very difficult for me to see the light at the end of the tunnel…At times I just want to give up but how can I, when I have a lovely son, and another life am carrying that depends on me…Please help in prayer for God to give me the strength to carry on…and make the right decisions like a christian should..
I should actually mention that even if I had sleepless nights when we were asked to move out of our house…not knowing were to get money for the deposit of moving into a new house…with help from friends I maneged to get enough money to enable us move to another house…I know Gods hand was on us…I owe alot of money but we did not sleep on the street!!!

    • Ambili .Varughese says:

Leave all your worries to Jesus Christ. He knows what you need very well better than you.
Dont think of your problems. If you think of it, you will sin. So never think about it. I know very well even if you try to forget it, it will come to you.

By the grace of Lord Jesus Christ, let me share this with you: Repent all your sins. ( The sins even what we have committed when we were young). All means all the sins (what ever you are able to remember). Confess all your sins to Jesus Christ because only through his blood we are having eternal life, our sins are forgiven and our diseases are healed.

Let me share this also with you: We can never be perfect by our efforts. We may put all our efforts for not sinning. But we will never succeed. “Impossible” for sure. We shall be successful only only only by the grace of Lord Jesus Christ.

If we keep sinning, inspite of repenting several times, just check where is the root cause for this sin? For example: maybe at the age of 7, we started to steal. We accepted the Word of God and became a believer, but still we are not able to stop this sin. (I meant even after becoming a believer , we steal, inspite of knowing it is wrong.) Just confess to Lord Jesus Christ, I am sorry that I stole at the age of 7. He will surely deliever you from all the sins.

Jesus Christ will surely deliever you.

      • everyday i repent of my sins even the one i forgot about no matter what i repent i need to be deliever from alot of things i stay up at night on this site looking for answers, and my GOD their always their i love this site!!!!!!!!!

  10. I am going through divorce, was evicted from the home by my husband. He had several extra marital affairs. I know i sinned regarding finances when i was fed up, cornernd and a lot of other situations which were not excuses, and which I confessed. But with him i had to keep on going to everybody and tell what i did while he did not have to . He did not have to tell everybody that he beat me up, the fact that i also worked meant nothing, the fact that he abused alchohol meant nothing, his collection of traffic fines and spending at will so that i had to try and make ends meet, and thus my mess with the finances. he told me that he wanted to see me in a position where i had nothing, and i am there, he told me to go and live with my parents until even they did not even want me any more, and i am there, even my sister has physically abused me like he did. when I was small my cupboard was untidy and my mother spit at me and told me i was worse that a “kaffir”. She told me that with all the love in her heart she wished me an unhappy marriage, out of which i was chased after 28 years. She even told me that i would be fat like my father’s mother who she hated. At this stage I want to commit suicide, but then satan would have a field day. why must some keep on apologising, crawling, and keep on being beaten up in all possible manners.

    • jackielynn says:

You do not have to continue to let people mistreat you, they are evil people who do this to you. You were married 28yrs? Are you in a church now, if not you need find one to have some community support. God be with you.

    • hello my dear, i would like to let you know that Jesus Christ loves you. You’ve suffered those attacks because satan is trying to make you hate those people that are/or/had hurt you, read on your bible efesians 6:10-18, i see that they are attacking constantly at the same area of your life “emotional”, but here is the thing say a prayer to God controls your emotions, give all this wounds you have carried for so long and put everyone of them in Gods hand, Jesus took all curses on the Calvary, read Galatians 3:13 (Is a curse affecting your life? You may say, “Christ redeemed me from the curse of the law” (Galatians 3:13) – no curse can affect me!). Here is a prayer for you please do if you want to be delivered from all of this.
