porn

I think I’m a christian. I’m a 16 year old male and i have a problem with porn and masturbation. I signed up for this because i think this is right for me and I want advice but I dont want to talk to my parents about it. I’ve prayed the prayer of salvation several times and sincerely want this addiction gone. But it hits me once every day. I long to follow christ but there is something in me that wants the addiction. I don’t know what to do. What do you guys think?

What do YOU think?

God know that you want to stop. Trust Him to change your desires. As you get closer to Him your lust will abate. I really feel for you men, because as a woman I do not have this problem, however I know many women who do. The devil will attack you greatly with guilt, but lets face he is the tempter and if it werent for him this problem would not exist, so take no notice, and if you fall , each time you fall, get back up, confess to the Lord and carry on, know He wants you free as well. Marriage is not the answer as you will carry the problem with you. You need deliverance. There is a lovely pastor who does telephone deliverance and i know he can help you                       .[email protected]

God I thank you for delivering me out of the hands of the enemy, I renounce all sinful activites and desire only to live for you father. God I thank you for redeeming me back to you.

My dear brother. My name is Clayton, and this site has been of great help to me. I have posted replies in very few discussions here on this site. But when I do, I really feel like it’s the leading of God.

Masturbation and pornography is defnitely sinful, and those who continue in it cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. But you must also realise that every man is a sinner. If we are truly repentant, God will indeed deliver us. I stand as a testimony to that. Now about the sin, you must realise that God created love to be pure. You are of age now, and your body is created to have a desire to be with a woman. For the word of God declares how that Adam was alone, and God created eve out of His own flesh. I want you to know that your perfect eve is who will complete you. For ADAM and EVE were 1 FLESH. Therefore, when God reveals that Eve to you, Your perfect half, that’s when you will experience the completeness of love in marriage. Every other form is lust, and cannot ever give you joy. Now God gave us that desire. But we must wait for the time, and not allow that desire to control us leadng to the sin of lust. How do we wait? We wait for the right person, by seeking God with all our heart and praying for oour perfect eve. Remember that the desire of a woman(in marriage) is not lust, but desiring another woman(whosoever it may be) is lust. So wait for your perfect half, and Let the joy of praying and waiting for your perfect half(who will only belong to you) fill you through prayer.

But a more important way, a more powerful way, is to read and dwell upon the Scripture of Our LORD. I’ve witnessed how powerful reading the scripture is. Even our LORD Jesus Christ commended the scripture. He knew what was ‘Written’. When you read the scripture your focus itself changes, and an unspeakable joy will fill your heart. The important thing to keep in mind is not to glance the scripture, but study it with a desire to Know Father God more.

I want t0 write much more, but I would be glad to help if you could contact me on [email protected]

Clayton, i have to say that no where in the bible that says that Masturbation is a sin. I looked it up and i found nothing. I looked it up on the internet and it told that people will try to tell young men the story of Onan. Masturbation is not a sin. Pornography is though. The BIble says not to lust. When somebody is looking at porn, that is what that person is doing. Commiting lust. Every man masturbates and it probably wont change and if you say you dont then you are one heck of a liar. So dont be saying that masturbating and looking at porn will get you one ticket to the Lake of Fire.

I feel you are a little to adamant in your statement, sort of trying to justify your actions.

To “protest too much” is to insist so passionately about something not being true, that people will come to believe, that you really believe it is true.
        “Protest too much” comes from Hamlet by William Shakespeare;

        Jas 1:14,15
        14) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of HIS OWN LUST, and ENTICED.
        15) Then when LUST hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

        Gal 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the LUST OF THE FLESH.

        1Jn 2:16
For all that is in the world, the LUST OF THE FLESH, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

        (LUST) Online dictionary

        1) intense sexual desire or appetite.
        2) uncontrolled or illicit sexual desire or appetite; lecherousness.
        3) a passionate or overmastering desire or craving

If the urge to masturbate cannot be overcome, then this urge falls into the category of, (a passionate or overmastering desire or craving) and thereby the act is an (uncontrolled or illicit sexual desire or appetite; lecherousness) which is of itself an (intense sexual desire or appetite).

The simplest way to say it is, (IF YOU CANNOT, OR DO NOT, WANT TO ABSTAIN) then you are lusting.

By the way you have contradicted yourself with the last statement of your post.

“So dont be saying that masturbating and looking at porn will get you one ticket to the Lake of Fire.”

        You have already stated.

“Masturbation is not a sin. Pornography is though. The BIble says not to lust. When somebody is looking at porn, that is what that person is doing.”

But as you have just read from the scripture itself, you can lust in your FLESH.
        (LUST is LUST)

  4. Freak4Jesus15 says:

When you do look at the pornography and you know it is wrong then the Holy Spirit is working at your heart. God is trying to get you to repent your sins and come away from it. Don’t feel bad about it. God WILL bring you through it and i am going to say he brought me through it. Honestly telling your parents is the right thing to do. Tell your parents so they can help you through it. Restrain yourself from going to the sites. Do all that you can to resist. Listen to calming music or read the bible. God WILL help you through it and so will your parents.

  5. JT,

Its a pretty widespread problem, because the chemicals this behavior releases are addictive, and yes, evil spirits can and often DO get involved to fortify this kind of stronghold.

You should always confess this as a sin to God and believe you are forgiven, no matter how many times you fall or have fallen. See 1 John 1:9; Ephesians 1:7.

The best thing is to stop the sin, and in the end, it is necessary. But how? The only way I know is to get something in you that is stronger than the desire for sexual pleasure and fantasy, and more satisfying. That “something” is God the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. You need to relentlessly pursue God in prayer, fasting and meditation on the Word, and then you’ll also be able to be delivered from spiritual bondage by means of the steps I outline on this site regarding Spiritual Warfare.

The Holy Spirit can and does satisfy the human soul. If we don’t give place to the Holy Spirit, then we will find that human willpower is not enough to resist sinful behavior patterns.

The other major factor in overcoming sin is to believe that Jesus dealt with the power of it at the cross. Believe that you are now dead to sin, but alive to God – see Romans 6.

  6. Freak4Jesus15 says:

I just want to say that if you have a pornography problem and you want to stop it from continuing then the smart thing to do is to tell on of your parents. I know that you dont want to and that you might get in to trouble but your parents will help you. Another way, try to stay off the computer for a while and resist the temptation. If you tell your parents they will help you. It is best if you do to tell one that wont overreact. When you do get on the internet resist the temptations, think of something else and listen to music or get on like facebook or something. But your parents will help you. For the masturbation, Every guy does it and if they say other wise then they are probably lying. If you really want help, Pray to God and ask him to help you.

For the masturbation, Every guy does it and if they say other wise then they are probably lying.

Does this make it right, though?

    • Timothy Luke says:

I don’t do it, and I am not lying! Just because you have the problem, does not mean every one else does, so be careful with what you say. You are accusing those who have overcome and slandering their testimony.

You are right, that we do need to confess to one another, and that it generally is good to tell our parents, unless you fear verbal and/or physical assault. Yes, it is humbling, but it is the way to freedom. The shame and guilt and condemnation of masturbation only fuel the cycle of self-hatred or loathing that leads to sinning again to comfort ourselves. Get this thing out in the light and it will lose much of its power and you will be on your way to overcoming. You need to break the cycle by confessing your sin and separating yourself from it. You are not the composit of your sins, your sins are not you. You are created in God’s image to give and receive pure love, not unclean lust. Anything that does not mirror God in you is something that is NOT you and can be overcome as you separate yourself from that behavior to be who you are created to be.

Blessings to you on the way!

      Tim
