About Michael Fackerell

The Christian faith is about Jesus. He came to save the lost. About Jesus Christ, Bible teaching, Testimonies, Salvation, Prayer, Faith, Networking.

  1. I was involved with occult stuff, and explored other religions besides Christianity, and am trying to undo the damage now. Part of that involves getting rid of various possessions in my house. I got rid of all the obvious ones. And now I’m getting down to ones I’m still not sure about. Someone told me I had to get rid of ALL of my Catholic stuff (statues of Archangel Michael, Joan of Arc, Mary, etc., crucifixes, holy water, various medals, paintings, cards, etc.), and of any crosses, pictures of Jesus, blessed oil, or Bibles that I used “for protection”. What do you all think about that? She said that any item assigned a purpose (like protection) automatically moves into the occult area (this includes holy water & anointing oil, too–which a lot of churches still use). I still feel unsure about this. Any thoughts? I also have statues of angels in general, and am unsure whether these would count as things to get rid of, as well.

    • I agree, trusting in any physical object such as a statue or a crucifix is superstitious and idolatrous. Get rid of such things. God is a Spirit and He is quite able to protect us by means of real angels if we pray, fear God and put our trust in Him.

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them” (Psalms)

    • I would definately get rid of all those things. Unfortunately the catholics are in bondage and do worship idols. They are the “whore of Babylon” God speaks about in Revelations. The angels you have are probably all ladies or children, this is satan transforming himself into an angel of light. The bible describes angels as powerful strong beings or men never ladies or children. Also we have to ask God to give His Angels charge over us, we do not speak directly to the Angels.
I can recommend a DVD for you to watch, it is called HOUSE CLEANING by Tiaan Gildenhuys, it covers all this.

God be with you in Jesus Name.

      • Angelwithlove says:

you know what for calling yourself Christian you sure do enjoy pointing the finger and judging others..let god due the judging…as far as idols i grew up catholic and while i agree it’s a bit odd …the site of someone praying in front of a statue …i’ve learned to realize that they are not worshiping the statue but using it as a focus or as one would do when you look at a picture of a loved one – if u do not understand something then how can you even put your own explanation behind it. further, things like water were used by Jesus and John in baptizing …and when Jesus cures a blind man, in the bible, he uses his spit and mixes it with dirt to apply it on the man’s eyes…all of these things are almost magical but done with the power of God…surely you are not going to claim that what he was doing was wrong???..the bible even speaks of how God gives some of us gifts, such as to heal others… as far as people having second site(psychic) being sinful—- hellooo….all the prophets had second site surely you do not also claim they are evil…Aside from all this, i feel we should be focusing on God’s love and what that means rather than judging others (such a negative thing)…i’ve seen far too many “Christians” waste precious time on solely judging others…rather than helping others

        • very well said thank you angelwithlove I am a catholic and the important thing is seek god no one else trust him.know that he is with you ..ive had many trials and survived them all. with the word of god as protection . these trials makes us who we are as believers ..its a choice we make ..its a test we have to pass ..it might takes us multiple falls but just know god is holding ur hand and he will not let go..trust him he has the plan ..ive become so close to god I love him with all my heart..my falls made me who I am today . his promises are true …we will be rewarded for our obedience..i am 52 a widow of 5 yrs my hardest part of my life was the trauma of losing my husband and how he left this world.its hurt me and I lost myself in my own dark place, its here recently that ive come to the end of that road and saw the light and I accepted the loss all alone with god there every time I would fall but I always prayed my way..im glad I ended up in this speak your mind …it felt good to speak mine for the first time..god bless everyone

      • Marina-

        Well put!

Please hear me on this- there is a good reason why images, icons etc. have always been prohibited in the Old Testament and likewise in the New Testament. These are fleshy encumbrances at best- but without a doubt they attach us to the spirit which promotes the religion (which espouses these things).

But most importantly, they do not assist our prayer- for the prayers that are heard are those uttered in Faith.

“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Mathew 21: 21,22)

To seize faith, we walk in faith. We trust that God hears us and be sure if we are baptized into Christ, Christ indeed hears us.

Icons do not draw us close to Christ instead they separate us from Christ. If we are to worship and pray to God, we must do it Spiritually and that is by faith, not through manufactured devices.

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4: 23, 24).

There is not a man or woman of God who has walked in the power of the Holy Spirit who would consider or tolerate icons and other artifacts to draw us into an experience with Christ. It is not only crazy- it is deception and this alone puts Catholicism beyond the pale. However, these devices as you know are used extensively by those indulging in Occult and New Age practices, this as talisman’s imbued with demonic power.

The Roman Catholic Church is fleshy in its entire practice- substituting what is false for what is true. The aim of the spirit which controls this organization is to prevent seekers from knowing Christ directly through the Holy Spirit.

My advice to this sister- is to burn it all- pictures, rosaries, statues- the whole lot and see your prayer life and home light up with the True God.

        • I am from Catholic background and recently changed to Pentecostal. My home has crosses and pictures of Christ, a few of them I especially love, one is depicting Christ holding a little lamb to His chest (the lost sheep) and another depicting Christ knocking on a door from outside (like in Revelations). It is not the face in the pictures but the characters, the personality, what He is doing that makes me feel warm, it is not often someone knocking on my door asking to come in and sup with me or someone would hold me to his chest and cherishes what he had found again… it is hard for me to get rid of them…..:(

          • Sandra Tendam says:

Best thing to do is look to scripture for answers.

            Exodus 20:4 in KJV reads:

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

          • Christine Ervin says:

Hello, What do you think of a frequency machine were the owner says when you get in it the angels heal us?

    • You don’t need to get rid of them as long as you don’t place them above God. I’m a Protestant and I have a crucifix above my pillow. These images are used to recall and remember God and what he’s done for you.

    • Hello-
It is great to get rid of the occult in your home. However, I would disagree with getting rid of all things Catholic. I think there is a big misconception of how Catholics view these items. Catholics use them as reminders of how to act, what to think, how to focus our attention back on Jesus/God/Holy Spirit. We use them as reminders to pray, to worship, and to love Jesus and God. Jesus is the fulfillment of the covenant God made with David of a never ending kingdom.

In the Davidic tradition, the most honored role was Queen Mother — Even the kings bowed to the Queen Mother – check out Kings 1 2:19, Davids’ son, bowed to Bathsheba – his mother, the Queen Mother. Jesus takes his role as King in the Davdic Kingdom to fulfill the Davidic Covenant. So who does Jesus honor — not worship — but the Queen Mother, Mary. Who should we honor — not worship — Mary, the mother of God. It is “honor” not “worship” just like one of the 10 commandments — “honor” your mother and father.
Should anyone be called a “whore of Babylon” for following one of the 10 commandments? Please don’t call Catholics that for honoring our mothers, fathers of both here on Earth and in the Heavenly Kingdom.

Keep all things Catholic and learn more about Catholicism!

      God Bess!

  2. moregrace says:

I am a skilled musician. However after reading some of the comments I am wondering about what I am doing. I play music for worship and for a living. It is my means of support for me and my family. I sometimes play in venues that have nothing to do with religion. Yet I play spiritual music. The music is not being used as worship but rather for an income. Am I right to do so?
This is my profession and the church that I attend can not afford to pay me.

    • javarob says:

Glorify God with your talents. Be in the world, but not of the world. Paul made tents in addition to being a teacher of the law. Do not cast your pearls before swine- don’t play gigs that glorify sinful activities or lifestyles. If the venues are wrong you shouldn’t play them- seek other sources of income with your musical talents. These are just some helpful thoughts. God will give you discernment if you ask Him for it.

    • Heng Lee says:

I don’t see anything wrong with using your skill to earn a living. God gave everyone of us talents, skills & ability to earn a living.
In fact, I would encourage you to use it even more in the secular world. This is a very useful tool/method to reach out to the unbelieving world through our Christian music. Many unbelievers would not come to the church. But by using your musical skill, you can reach out to these unbelievers.
The only thing that you’ve to watch out is “what & who influence & inspire your music?”. You must not let the “world” or “wrong things” to influence your music. Let Jesus Christ & the Holy Spirit be the only source of your inspiration when playing, creating or composing your music.
Let all your music be a worship unto God.

    • Joanna Campbell says:

We as Christians are the light of the world and if we never shine our light in the dark places, who will? Just because you play a gig in a bar doesn’t mean you are participating in any activity there except work. You are not there to get sloppy drunk, you are there to work. And because Jesus lives inside you, everywhere you go, He goes too. God has given you various outlets to make a living with your gift…wherever that takes you, give Him the glory. There are a lot of musicians out there right now that can’t make a living at music. So give Him the praise for the provision and shine on!

You don’t have to bang people over the head with Jesus. You are pure and holy in Him, go live your life and people will notice you are different. When they do, a lot of times they will initiate a conversation with you about it and you can share your testimony. We can’t get caught up in “all things Christian” because then we aren’t affecting the world. You ever heard the saying “they were so heavenly they were no earthly good!?” Jesus hung out with the sinners. He said the people that are well don’t need a doctor! Be His light to the world. The musicians you know that don’t know Jesus, need him. You just might be the one to introduce them to Him.

  3. skinnyboy71 says:

Trances can be of God too though.

“I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was.”—Acts 11:5

“He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance”–Acts 10:10

Were not supposed to try or let anyone else try to put us under a trance but if directed by the Holy Spirit than its okay.

  4. In reference to Michael’s last comment:

“I think it gets down to the reason and motivation in the music, but some of the modern music is such rubbish musically its hard to believe that God would want to use it. Then again, God has worked with all kinds of inferior things over the years, so who I am to say.”

True that God has worked with many things/people less fortunate, soaked in famine, etc.

But why does that make it/them inferior in your eyes?

Don’t you think you are commenting from a place within you that is just your personal taste?

If God uses it/them they are not inferior at all. Following God is not for the faint of heart, as we all know it is more difficult to do the right thing on a daily basis in our lives – then it is to do the wrong – taking the easy way out.

True that lucifer was in charge of the music in Heaven, he was also a very beautiful, if not the most beautiful angel in heaven. Music belongs to God, what makes it demonic are the lyrics.

Confess with your mouth and all that.

    • pshrader says:

It amazes me how many times I hear that Satin was in charge of music in heaven. There is not a passage anywhere in the Bible to support this claim. Some people use Ezekiel 28:13 to support this claim, but this only works if you use the KJV and stretch it quite a bit. The only modern translation that even mentions “pipes and tambours” is the NKJV and that is because it is based on the KJV. Anyway, to use this argument to condemn modern music means that you must condemn all music or you have to say that Satin was really late in coming up with this plan to corrupt men. Music is a wonderful creation from God. It can be misused and corrupted like other creations from God. Lyrics are what delivers the message, either to curse God or to praise Him. If a song praises the Lord I do not consider it evil. If a song curses the Lord or promotes sin than it is evil and should be avoided and condemned. Psalm 92:1 “It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High.”

  5. Ellen Stevenson says:

It seems we are under a great deal of spiritual attack today. I believe there is a furious battle raging in the unseen world about us. Chaos seems to be the offshoot of all this in individuals, in families, in communities, and so on.

Other venues of demonic power include getting out from under the Shadow of the Almighty – disobedience, lying, stealing, immorality, anger, fear, and so on.

HaSatan does not want people to obey the Eternal One. The Church has opened herself way up by believing lies and observing traditions of man in place of biblical feasts and sabbaths. The lie of evolution has flourished in such soil.

    • michael says:

Well I agree with all you say here except for the phrase “in place of biblical feasts and sabbaths”.

In the New Testament, living in our Savior Jesus Christ (you can use the Hebrew version if you prefer) IS the substance of these things, which are only shadows which point to him.

Do you believe the teaching of the apostle Paul?

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Colossians 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. (KJV)

      • skyscout11 says:

Just a few thoughts and a question. I very definitely agree with the lady on the high sabbaths, they are “forever, throughout your generations” and the Christian holy days are all directly correlated to pagan sabbaths, including Halloween which is the eve of All Saint’s Day. Doesn’t it make more sense to keep the same holidays that Yahshua (Jesus Messiah) kept before the Pope “changed the times and seasons”? We’re messianic, which is very close to christian and we should be brothers. Yes we believe the New Testament when Paul said that these holidays were a “FORESHADOW of things TO COME.” Just as Jesus fulfilled Passover and the Spring biblical high days, He comes to fulfill the Fall Feasts as well. Feast of Trumpets – the trumpets will sound. Day of Atonement – Great White Throne Judgment. Feast of Tabernacles – Yahweh lives with us (tabernacles) forever. Even the Spring Feasts were fulfilled only in the intermediary, a second Exodus described in the OT, “in that day they will no more speak of when Yahweh led the children of Israel from the land of Egypt, but of when He led them from all the countries where He has scattered them” (paraphrase). Indeed, all of the punishments and Exiles in the whole Bible are result of Israel not keeping the High Sabbaths, but instead integrating paganism! Read it! Paul also said, “therefore let us keep the Feast.” Jesus said, Think not that I have come to destroy the Law and the Prophets, I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill. And, til heaven and earth pass, not one jot or tittle shall pass away from the Law. And, whosoever teaches to disobey the least commandment shall be called least in the Kingdom. And, Man shall live by every word ever breathed from the mouth of Yahweh. Paul said, let no man judge you but the body of Christ. “of” is in italics in the KJV, meaning it was added by the original translaters.

Take that as you may, but my question is about Martial Arts. I really appreciate the articles on this site. I was wondering, my daughter does christian karate. Belt of truth, defend virtues with honor, what do you think of this? She’s homeschooled out here in the boonies and this is one of the only things we’ve found in a long time that she has access to participate in that I halfway like (besides assembly). She loves it, and acts more confident… Thanks, shalom

        • skinnyboy71 says:

I think its fine that your daughter is taking Christian martial arts. Acts 10:15 says “…What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.” (NASB)

        • michael says:

I remain of the view that the power source of martial arts is demonic. Lots of demonic things are fun group activities you can do with friends. We had a great time playing Dungeons and Dragons together as kids – but I still needed deliverance from it afterwards.

God hasn’t cleansed it, it has a real power source and it ain’t God.

          • skinnyboy71 says:

Okay but if someone starts a Christian martial arts place making the kids learn about the Bible than isnt that good? If they learn about scripture and dedicate what they do to Jesus is that good? If the kids learn respect and more about God isnt that good? Luke 6:43 says “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.” So if demons are all over this Christian martial arts place and influencing the kids than shouldnt there be signs/symptoms of this? Shouldnt there be bad fruit? But if there is only good fruit than according to scripture its a good tree isnt it?

        • I just want to let you know that no practices of karate or any other contact sport is religious. It originated from the east and God say directly in His word that our bodies is a temple of God. Why do you want to damage it as it is not even ours. We are made in His likeness.Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. You should have faith in God for your protection even if you have just a little faith like a mustard seed there are so many places in the scripture refering to protection and faith. Why do you want to rely on yourself if you belong to an awsome living almighty God.
Mat 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
I am a reborn christian and I was delivered from contact sport I anticipted in it for +/- 10 years from karate Goju-kai, Goju-ru, Shotokan and kickboxing. If you want to do it for fitness rather by a hiphop or excercise dvd, join a gym or start jogging. I can give you a full testamony. My God bless you and unveil your eyes to do His will not ours. There are no such thing as christian contact sport rather fight for Jesus against the principalities in the air and pray the the children of God getting deceided by the devil with his smart talk.I pray that your testimonies will be used to help and guide others in faith.

God I pray dearly that you unveil the eyes of the person involved in this contact sport or karate so that You can show them the trueth and set them free from the lies. I pray and ask it in your powerful name and I thank You for it.

    • It’s interesting that you mention an increase of spiritual attacks. My friends and I have noticed the same thing. The enemy is going after our kids and finances. My 13 year old was hearing voices and seeing monsters. Our business has been under attack but as of last night I just wonder if God is using it to reach my husband. He’s not saved but he defends me and my faith against his family when they attack Christians. Last night, while discussing marketing, he took my hand for the first time ever and told me to pray. I was so stunned I almost didn’t know what to say. Except, Thank You. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens to all of us when we come out of the fire. God promised to protect us and bring us through the tough times as long as we stay focused on him. Sometimes that is even difficult. Fortunately, there is always a beginning and an ending to each day so that we can.
My friend told me that because we are getting closer to the end, Satan is freaking out and has stepped up his campaign against us. On the other hand, it’s not like we are being fed to the lions for our faith so we can be grateful for that. A woman Dr. from Iran said in an interview that the members of the Iranian government wanted her to practice medicine here so that she could gather personal information about her patients. They wanted to know where all the Christians and Jews lived because when the time was right they planned to slaughter the Jews first, next Christians, after that everyone else that would not convert. Being a caring Dr. she managed to sneak out and is living under armed guard in Canada. Maybe, they are our lions. We ignore them at our peril, I know that. As God said however, we do not battle flesh, we battle prinicipalities and only God can fight that one for us. We have to rely upon our gov’t. the keep the flesh away and be grateful that the President we have now starts every day in prayer and asks for the Lord’s guidance. Hopefully, the next one will as well.
I’m thinking that the more of us that are aware of what is going on will only increase the amount of prayer going up to heaven. God will hear a shout instead of a whimper.
      God Bless!!!

I feel i need to share what my grandmother has had dreams about. My grandma has had dreams about muslims invading the US through Canada. And she has had dreams about them killing Christians that won’t convert. Please pray about this.

      • I find your write up on spiritual attack very true. As the enemy is seeking to destroy Christians in these last days, all children of God must suffer for Christ, for those who endure to the end will overcome. I would like to encourage all saints around the world who are undergoing trials as great is your reward in heaven, put on the full armour of God so that you can stand when the day of evil comes.

  6. Cleanasfire says:

I believe it is in the heart and soul of the performer. Rock has Satanic roots. As does todays pop and the garbage RAP. If music repulses you…then I wouldn’t listen to it.

    • Rap actually was invented in the 16th century when poets who were mad at each other would insult the other person in the form of poetry rather than dueling. The first rock artist was Jewish, and popis sort of a mix between the two.

  7. So if I read the points of entry on the occult list, is this list stating that if we partake in a martial art, such as jujitsu like my son is learning, that this may be a point of entry? My son is saved, but is he in danger during this class/workout?

    • I think they are a point of entry. Maybe its a co-incidence, but after my 21 year old brother started doing martial arts, against my warnings, he suddenly died, without further warning, though he was a Christian, and I am sure was saved. Could be a co-incidence, but I think there is a spirit of death at work in some of these martial arts practices.

      • Pastor_Tim says:

In Rebecca Brown’s book “Setting the Captives Free” she relates the story of her friend Elaine who claims to have been a high priestess and endued with much demonic power. The witches would enter into combat using their demons to battle one another. The battles would happen to be in the martial arts realm and powers of leaping extraordinary heights and so on were part of the manifestations these forces weilded in martial arts. I don’t know what to make of that book, but when you bow to a room, you are duped. I believe there is a higher power there.

      • dominika says:

        Hi there

just want to tell you you are right… the martial arts, as well as any other east-culture things (hypnosis, meditation, imagery…etc) are extremely dangerous. I heard several times “well, I can do it, I have it under my control” and then I could see very subtle losing of trust. Not faith, but personal relationship with God became unumportant. SATAN DOES THESE THINGS STEP BY TEP… we must avoid everything that keeps us from His presence.
Once I was in these things, now I am saved, by the mercy of Jesus. And since that moment I just cannot do the both things – e.g. do yoga and worship Lord. And its worth consideration.
Bless you. May you keep your faith until the very end. 🙂

      • Tiante Tarakia says:

        Hi Michael,

You did not mention white magic as one of the entry points.
What do you think of it?

        • michael says:

White magic is certainly an entry point for demonic bondage. It all comes from evil spirits, but these spirits know how to present themselves as beautiful spirit beings most of the time. From what I have heard, spirit guides cannot always succeed in hiding their evil nature, so they teach their victims to love and embrace “dragons”, “evil” as well.

        • White magic is on the list; so you must have missed it.

      • Tiante Tarakia says:

        You’re very right Michael.

In my country in the central Pacific, we have a local martial art that our people believe is far superior than Asian martial arts. Like other skills, it is not easy to share except to only close members of family, or even to sons only.
The origin of these martial arts however was associated with some gods-spirits (not GOD) and it is well known that the Masters of these martial arts practice certain taboos and magics as part of the art. The gods are with them as they kind of having 4 eyes, whereby when they are attacked suddenly from the back, by knife or other means, the attacker would instantly fell to his disappointment to the ground without harm to the Master!

  8. charlie-harlon says:

To quote the lyrics of Johnny Rotten.
“I am an anti christ. I am an anarchist. Don’t know what I want but I know where to get it…I wanna destroy…cos I wanna be. Anarchy.”

The generation that sang along to that in the UK (a little older than me) were at the forefront of something very sinister and nihilistic. I don’t think it was created by the music.
I think it was created by the generation before and their sexual habits – which meted out sexual abuse of children…these children then grew up to be the angry punks, dressing in child-like ways, and making themselves ugly.

And the punk movement was famously anti-sex, which again, can be an attitude of those who survive sexual abuse.
So the anger in the lyrics is certainly satanic and something of a trance-curse, yes, but the evil behind it came from the hippy “free love” generation. Again, Punk’s famous phrase was “never trust a hippy”

    • Cleanasfire says:

At the time Punk was a fresh breath of air to the over-produced 70’s pop-rock sound, however the spirit was plainly evil. I think Punk is demonic in origin and intent. I will pray for this person trapped in Punk.

  9. Why rock music? If it is an issue with lyrics then not all rock music is bad. A lot of it is angry and dark but a lot of rock bands sing about social justice and there are a lot of christian rock bands. I find that pop is just as bad with its overt references to extra marital sex.
Is there a problem with the actual sound of the music? What about worship rock?

    • According to what I know the rock music is not advisable because of it’s connection with binaural beats. These are used by shamans to put them in trances (brain entrainment).
Somebody told me Lucifer was in charge with the music when in Heaven, so, you’re talking of an expert here.

      • But I have read in the bible that the prophets feel into trances and that they sometimes used music to this effect. I do know however that certain tribal recordings you can buy of shamanic music are designed to call spirits-kind of like how our worship songs are designed to call Gods Spirit to us.
But my understanding of binural beats is that they can put you in trances and yes, if you want to then use that state to ask tree spirits advice then you deserve everything you get. But if you use the trance to meet with God then I feel that its OK since they did this in the bible.
Its all about who you are seeking.

        • Its OK if God puts you into a trance but using music to achieve that state of mind on your own initiative strikes me as a dangerous practice.

Its true that prophets did call for musicians but I doubt it was raucous music they used. And it doesn’t say that they went into trances as a result. Probably the praise and worship opened the door for God to move quite apart from trances or altered states of consciousness. You don’t have to be in a trance to prophesy.

          • I have compiled a manual on breaking curses and bondages. It is a powerful tool in deliverance ministry for it covers a lot of ground on this subject. The title is Jesus Christ – The Curse Breaker.

On the subject of trance, there seems to be a misunderstanding of what it is. The trance spoken here that Peter experienced is an open vision. That is, he has a vision while still in a waking state. When a person is in deep prayer and in the spirit, he may experience this (if the Lord so wills to show him something).

            Dr T

      • Ok. But as far as I am concerned I would not put myself consciously in trance to talk to God. It’s a great danger of being misled by a demon pretending is an angel of light (I think all the cases are the same), and I wouldn’t recommend this practice to anyone.
e.g. Mr Somebody tried hard to put Ms Prudence in trance at night while she was sleeping, to influence her behaviour. After some time his friends succeded, although Ms Prudence was a serious christian. (…) Ms Prudence had apparitions of somebody who was not alive anymore (in very deep dream state) and when realised that was not true, the person told the aparition, it’s not the one she was pretending to be as that person is dead; so that image changed the shape. After a while, the person was having apparitions of devil and demons, and night attacks of dragons, dreaming of Dalai Lama wanting to shake her hand, hearing voices, confusion, ideas of reincarnation were coming in her head from nowhere, ESP sensations, psychic attacks and the list goes on.
Are you willing to take the chance to open yourself to some supernatural realm that you can’t handle on your own, and than it will cause confusion in your head to guide you astray?
The prophets in the bible were not using any psychedelics, or binaural beats to get in trance. (true story but the true names are withold)

        • It soundsike the danger from that story was that she was an unwilling victim and therefore not able to giver her mind over to God. Yes I beleive that this can happen so for someone else to put you in a trance would be a bad idea because then they can suggest things to you.
The behaviour of the first person in your story is very wrong. Yes i agree that an involuntary trance brought about by someone who wants to control you is very dangerous!
The prophets were still in a trance though. I know that using drugs is not the way to do it but I do feel that if you give control over to God then the quesation must arise-who is stronger-the devil or God?

        • starcraftnerd says:

Peace to you, brethren! However, by trance, do you mean meditation.

  10. I am asking this in all sincerity-why rock music? I can understand if its a problem with the lyrics, but the rock songs I listen to are about social issues. I dont listen to angry or God hating stuff. Generally I find that pop is far more sexually suggestive than rock.
Is there a problem with the actual sound of the music? What about christian rock?

    • Some rock music is really demonic, God hating and even the medium is part of the message. But I have friends who are godly people who write and play rock music. It doesn’t really do anything for me, but I have to be careful.

I think it gets down to the reason and motivation in the music, but some of the modern music is such rubbish musically its hard to believe that God would want to use it. Then again, God has worked with all kinds of inferior things over the years, so who I am to say.

    • It can be extremely difficult to hear the voice of God amidst the clamour of our everyday lives.

While it is obvious that some musical genres are completely demonic, death metal, gangster rap as two examples.
A lot of music can be hard to discern.

The effects of music upon our souls will invariably depend upon the spirit in which it is written and performed.

Music that is played at the same tempo as our heart rate can cause some kind of physical effect in us. A gradual increase in the BPM of a song, can cause our heart rate to increase accordingly.
Similarly, certain frequencies can also cause some change in us.
The vibrations of certain notes can shatter glass so what can they do to our bodies?

If we listen to music, we are choosing to allow our senses to receive something which will effect the way we feel, for good or bad.

The bible says in Romans 12, that, concerning spiritual gifts, “The manifestation of the spirit is given to each one for the common good”, later in the chapter, Paul exhorts us to “eagerly desire the greater gifts”.

The Holy Spirit gift of discernment is needed to determine the spirit of any kind of influence upon our lives, whether it is art, music, education, friendships and even our fellowship and teachings within the church.

If we are struggling to hear what the Lord is saying to us concerning what we listen to, then we should stop listening and seek the Lords direction first.

God made music for us and we should worship him with it.
