Lady Gaga – Judas – What Does it Mean?

Lady Gaga, who aims to shock on a regular basis in order to draw attention to herself, has come out with a song called "Judas", about her preference for Judas over Jesus. And of course, some people are "outraged" – but we would be better off yawning, because, after all, what do you expect from "the friends of the world" except hostility against Almighty God? That is what you'd expect if what the Bible says is true. Listen to this:

"Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God".

James 4:4

When you have become "the world's most influential celebrity" and you sell millions of records full of sensuality and blasphemy, you are probably someone who falls into this category. It's not what you SAY only that counts – but what you DO which reveals your true allegiance. But in this music video, "Judas", Lady Gaga just comes out and says it.

I read on the web that Gaga says this song is a reference to some bad boyfriends she had in the past, who betrayed her or whatever, and that she believes so much in God and Jesus, and all the rest of it. But whatever truth there may be in these statements, they are clearly not the whole truth. Anyone who is truly a child of God would not make music videos that drip with sexuality and turn gospel values on their head as Lady Gaga does.

So then, lets have a look at the lyrics of this song:

Oh, I'm in love with Judas, Judas
Oh, I'm in love with Judas, Judas

Judas, Juda, Judas, Juda
Judas, Juda, Judas, Gaga
Judas, Juda, Judas, Judas
Judas, Juda, Judas, Gaga

Judas was of course the disciple of Jesus who betrayed Jesus Christ for money and delivered Jesus up to the Scribes, the Pharisees, the Chief Priests and those who ultimately put Christ to death. He is referred to in the Bible as "the son of perdition". Which means, Judas went to hell. So Judas is hardly a good role model.

Gaga says she is in love with Judas. What Gaga is saying between the lines here is that she is in love with SIN and EVIL. This is hard to dispute. She prefers evil to good.

The song goes on:

"When he comes to me I am ready
I'll wash his feet with my hair if he needs
Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain
Even after three times he betrays me"

Gaga mixes her biblical metaphors here. It was Mary Magdelene who washed the feet of Jesus with her hair. But Gaga wants to do this for Judas. No matter how badly "Judas" treats her, no matter how much of a liar Judas is, she will forgive him and cling to him.

This is a picture of a slave of sin, which Lady Gaga surely is. They keep crawling up to evil, and serving it, even though they know that "evil" will surely harm them. Its also a picture of how some women slavishly adore "bad boys" who use them and abuse them. But that kind of relationship is actually a metaphor for the way evil women serve Satan.

The reference to "three times" alludes to the apostle Peter denying he knew Jesus three times, yet being forgiven by Jesus. As I said, the biblical metaphors are really mixed here. But let's move on.

"I'll bring him down
Bring him down, down
A king with no crown
King with no crown"

These lyrics could mean a number of things. Is she referring to Judas, as a king with no crown? If she loves Judas, why would she be determined to bring him down?

I think these lyrics express more of a determination to bring JESUS down. Though Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, for Gaga, Jesus has no crown and she will bring him down. Fat chance.

"I'm just a holy fool
Oh baby, he's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby"

"Holy fool" is an oxymoron. It is a contradiction in terms. The phrase itself communicates a lie. I wouldn't let something like this into my head. You can't be holy without being wise or wise without being holy. A fool in the Biblical sense is a moral rebel who won't listen to God or let God's Word shape his or her life.

Lady Gaga is religious if nothing else. She is a religious fool perhaps, but not holy. She is attracted to Judas, who is a biblical personification of evil. Remember, in the Bible, Satan entered Judas. Satan offers the world to those who reject Christ to follow his ways. This Lady Gaga virtually admits to having done in the lyrics which are below:

"In the most Biblical sense I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind
But in the conjugal sense I just speak in future tense
Judas kiss me if offenced or wear your condom next time
"

Gaga is saying she has sold herself for fame. She is basically a prostitute, who behaves indecently and immorally in exchange for money. She "vomits her mind" – that is the thoughts she is giving out and inspiring are basically VOMIT. So you've been warned. They say the illuminati people have as part of their code of ethics that they must tell you what they are going to do to you BEFORE they do it. There, Gaga told you. She is going to vomit her mind on you. Music is a great tool for that. Perhaps the words of her songs already go through your mind on a regular basis.

She says she is beyond repentance. That means, she feels she can't and she WON'T change and conform her life to the will of God. But for her, the "Biblical sense" doesn't matter too much. In the "conjugal sense" – whatever that means, just sounds like another reference to sex to me – in "the conjugal sense" she just speaks in the future tense. In other words, she is a prophetess of Baal. She is speaking forth the mentality that shall be in the people in the days to come. That people are going to reject Christ, and love Judas.

I don't know why Lady Gaga references "wearing your condom next time" but it sounds a lot like the worldly message of protecting yourself from the consequences of immoral sex, rather than abstaining from immoral lusts. Probably fits in well with the whole mood of the music video, I'd say. Something I'm not too interested in watching, as I don't want to spend time to defile my mind.

"I wanna love you
But something's pulling me away from you
Jesus is my virtue
And Judas is the demon I cling to
I cling to"

One strategy of Satan as I see it is to get catchy songs in people's minds, so they start repeating to themselves things which will get them deeper into bondage to the devil. If you keep telling yourself that there is a demon you are clinging to, even though Jesus is your "virtue" righteousness, its not going to promote holiness and love for God, its going to promote a mistaken belief that you can be right with God while you actually cling to the devil. Something some parts of the church have been teaching for a long time.

I'd like to leave you for now with the words of Isaiah 5:20

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"

Be careful what you listen to. The music you listen to shapes your thoughts, and your thoughts change your brain and body function and shape the destiny of your life.

If you can relate to what Lady Gaga is talking about and yet you would like to be free from it all, have a new spiritual life, a new holy desire for what is good, then I encourage you to cry out to Jesus for salvation. There are many articles on this site which explain how you can know God and the forgivenes of sins through Jesus Christ. Remember, Jesus, not Judas, died for you to pay the price for all your sin, so that you could be forgiven and have a new life. Forsake "Judas" and start to live a faithful and godly life which is fitting for those who will finally enter the Kingdom of God.
