If you believe that the word “Babylon” in the Scripture could refer to what we know as “America” or more specifically, the good ‘ole U.S.A., then you would be especially interested in the prophecy in the Book of Revelation – chapter 18, verse 1-11ff. Note especially vs 9,10:
Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and
lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when
they shall see the smoke of her burning,
Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas,
alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy
judgment come.
I often thought that this prophecy would be fulfilled by a Nuclear Attack, but I just read something on the web today which made me think that perhaps it could happen by means of a natural gas explosion. Apparently there is One HUGE mother of an interconnected natural gas reserve spanning America from North to South. It has been found that the separate discoveries of gas in different parts of the country are really all part of the one huge system.
Apparently this gas has been extracted in part by pumping water down in order to force the gas up. But when this water sinks into the earth further, it creates a partial vacuum and the effect is that OXYGEN is being sucked from the earth’s surface through ventilation holes etc to fill the vacuum. If its true that we have oxygen and natural gas filling vast portions of earth underneath the land of the American Continent, it will literally only take ONE SPARK for the whole nation to burn and be destroyed. No need for a nukes to destroy the nation.
Apparently this is why the vast reserves of land based gas resources leased to major companies like BP are not being exploited. These guys KNOW what might happen and THEY WON’T TOUCH IT. It could literally set the nation ablaze, and it would never recover.

Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
Rev 18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
Rev 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
