IN NEED OF HELP

A Christian couple I have been counseling, have asked me some questions, that has made it very difficult for me to give them a reasonable answer.
This is the issue at hand, they have had one child with absolutely no problem, but have not been able to have another. It has now been over 4 yrs.

They come with this scripture.
Psa 127:3
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

The question they ask is.
We are Christians, we love children, we want to have more.
There is another couple that we know, that have been separated from their spouses, neither one legally, and no divorce to date, so they are living in an adulterous relationship, but within a 3 yr. period of time they have had 2 more children besides the 2 the man had from his marriage.
If scripture is true, why does God allow the heritage of children to those living in sin, but then deny this same heritage to those that are trying to live a moral life.

We have already gone through
Exo 33:19
And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
Rom 9:15
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Mat 5:45
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

More than anything it is the apparent inequity found in scripture that is causing difficulties.
There is the feeling as though they have displeased God, but can’t figure out how.
Why can someone have one child so easily, and then the womb be closed.
After 4 yrs. of trying and praying, and being prayed for. They are standing in faith, with the high praise of God upon their lips, depending on the Lord.

Psa 37:4
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Joh 14:13
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Joh 15:7
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Jim, This was sent to my wife three days ago,  just three days after you posted this blog. This is another testimony to God's grace. Here are the perameters of the situation you describe, as clearly as I can see them ….

Psa 113:9  He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.

Psa 128:3  Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
Psa 128:4  Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.

God promises childREN as the heritage of the righteous.  Our righteousness is secured through Jesus Christ, however, we need to be abiding in Him, walking in the spirit and not the flesh, and repenting and getting back up when we invariably stumble.

Isa 59:1  Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
Isa 59:2  But your iniquities have separated between you and your God,

The good news is that we can certainly deal with our iniquities.

Joh 10:10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Somewhere, the devil is stealing the blessing.  There is an open door that is unseen… BUT, it is God's desire to reveal and bring to repentance and have the final word in the matter…

This is where you come in Jim.  They need someone to come alongside in love and be used of the Lord to help them escape, for surely this is the Lord's design!

2Ti 2:24  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
    2Ti 2:25  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

To look at pics of our four blessings and read our testimony of being set free from 15 years of barrenness there is Our Story, http://clearlyhis.com/our-story.html

I highly recommend Derek Prince's book, "Blessing or Curse: You can Choose," http://www.amazon.com/Blessing-Curse-You-Can-Choose/dp/0800794087, for your reading and theirs, to open avenues of discussion and revelation.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner on this. Have a blessed day and feel free to ask further questions.

      Hi Tim

      1) Is there a requirement of repentance, before God will grant Salvation by Grace through Faith?

Do you remember discussing this very question with Redbuck a few months ago?
His contention was, God did not grant Salvation, unless the requirement of repentance was met first.

      2) A requirement of repentance first, would therefore also require a remembrance of past sins before repentance could take place, would it not?
      3) If therefore a sin is not remembered and repented of, is that sin forgiven?

      • Timothy Luke says:

Jim, the Bible states, in answer to the question, "what must we do to be saved, "Repent and be baptized for the remission of sins."

Ephesians 4:26 states "be angry and sin not, let not the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil."

2 Tim 2:25-6, "In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will."

These verses are addressed to Christians, who may not be aware that what they are doing is "sin" but that the effect is the same nonetheless. We have given place to the devil.  What does he do with that power? He comes to kill, steal and destroy…. even in the womb, or before conception.

If God does not grant repentance to the acknowledging of sins we are unaware of, we are still bound in captivity.  Whatever the logic of Redbuck's discourse, these verses clearly demonstrate what I am saying. Is this of help?

        To answer your questions:

        1) Yes, "What MUST we do to be saved?," "Repent, and be baptised." Without that repentance, there is no salvation.  This sets us upon the path of sanctification, which will be a growing process, if we yield to God and seek to mortify the deeds of the flesh and walk in the spirit.

        2)  Not necessarily.  Repentance can merely be the general acknowledgment of who I am and where I am heading. Upon baptism, we are spiritual babes, so how can we know the depth and specificity of our sin? However, Hebrews 5 indicates a progression from ignorance to fuller awareness of separation and discernment of good and evil.

Heb 5:12-4  For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.  For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

        3) A person may be forgiven overall (have assurance of salvation), but that sin may still hold its power, because we are walking in agreement with the devil in an area, and "know you not to whom you yield yourselves (speaking to the church) servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey, whether of sin, unto death (barrenness is 'pre-emptive death") or obedience unto righteousness?" Romans 6:16.

If a sin is not remembered and repented of is not the issue as much as, is that manner of sin not recognized and therefore still active in our daily lives.

I am writing as one who specifically was lead to confess sins of the heart and flesh, and had our first child conceived within 30 days. I had not done that step before, so its not as though it was a fluke….I hope this helps.

  2. i am not good at posting comments but i will try and i hope it will make some sencse.i want to refer to the question the couple used that says “why does God allow the heritage of children to those living in sin, but then deny this same heritage to those that are trying to live a moral life”.i also was in a situation where i had no job ,no money for rentals but looking around and seeing other people(unbeleavers) having almost all, i prayed with a heavy heart and the Lord answered with a vision, to read psalms 37..i was touched and inspired by verses 3 to 8…. the Lord wants us to wait upon him.i also then advice my fellow brethren to be patient ,i think they have run out of patience here yet its one of the”fruit of the spirit” “the fruit of spirit is love ,joy, peace, patience(long suffering or endurance) ,gentleness, goodness ,faith ,mildness, temperence ..against such there is no law” the bible teaches us to delight in the Lord and he shall give us our heart’s desires in the fullness of time.Again there is a time when Paul prayed to the Lord to remove the illness he had but the Lord answered him that ‘His grace was sufficient for him”in other words the Lord knows why and what we need. we just have to pray earnestly and listen to what he has to say to us concerning our matters.i’m inspired by Hannah who always saw Peninna bearing children for Elkana but did not dispair, she contuined to Pray despite Peninnah’s mockings. the bible says The Lord had shut up Hannah’s womb in 1 sam 1vs 5 ,so i also belieave that the Lord had shut Hannah’s womb for a reason. Some things are done so that we witness the goodness and greatness of our Jesus when it comes to pass.i’m encouranging the couple to pray, give thanks to the Lord and count their blessings and the Lord will hounor them as he Did to Hannah and they shall one day give a testimony of his goodness.not also dismissing the point raised by my sister Beloved ,we have spirituall batlles that we as christian should fight.continue to fight for your faith and know that “if the Lord is on our side who can be against us and prosper….” absolutely no one!!!
i hope this will help them

    be blessed!!!

  3. Beloved says:

Is the couple in question aware of spiritual warfare? The enemy could be interfering with their ability to conceive.I could apply some of these same scriptures and wonder why I am not seeing the desires of my heart always fulfilled,as I’m sure many could.God has many wonderful promises to His children, sadly some die before they are realized.I believe it is because they do not understand the battle that we are engaged in.We see people not walking with the Lord blessed in different ways, while we have not been, Satan knows who God’s people are, they poise a threat to his kingdom. He will do any and every thing he can to ruin God’s plan for their lives, and if is being blessed with children, that is where he will attack.Maybe they should first learn the authority they have through the precious blood and name of Yeshua (JESUS) If they can get really plugged in ,on or about what it is that Jesus” sacrifice bought back from the enemies camp. I am fond of this verse Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.( This is not for those who understand nothing about warfare) But at some point they are going to need to familiarize themselves in this area They need to know that they can bind the enemy and forbid his interference in her fertility! Them sing praise to the KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS!! Thanking and expecting to be blessed with a child. I believe the enemy figures he won’t interfere with children born to those outside of Gods will. Given the time and enough of the right temptation, mix it with a heavy dose of self absorbed bad parenting ,and Presto, these kids become his prey. But, Godly parents are a completely different story, they could actually raise mighty warriors for the Lord! He does not want that, look at the way he influenced King Herrod.Kill all male infants under two!! he destroys what he fears But,we are more than conquerors through Jesus.!!!

they need to Take Their Authority! I hope this helps,
    Beloved
