I’m not sure if god exists…

I’m not sure if god exists and I am starting to lean towards atheism… for all the terrible things god does it just seems so unlikely that there is a god, like if there was. why would he create cancer? or mosquitos? it just doesn’t make sense to me… I believe it would just be alot easier to just give in and give up on god. I think it would just be alot easier to stop believeing in something that is probably just whowee and start believeing in nothing… why not right? what are your thoughts…

What do YOU think?

  1. Joel Anil Bansode says:

The creation of universe proves there is a creator who created these great things and if these things are so vast then just imagine how great our God is! Psalms 14:1 says,”Only fools say in their hearts,’There is no God.'” The world being created by just a big bang does not make any sense. but now even NASA has proved that Bible is true! So you can’t doubt the Word of God. And the wrong things in world came because man sinned.

A man once went to the barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. While they were talking, they came to a topic of God. The barber said,”I don’t belive there is a God.” The man asked why. To this the barber replied,”Tell me if God exists, there would not be diseases, pain and suffering and even cancer, orphans…I can’t imagine a God who allows this to happen. God doesn’t exist!”
The man said nothing and left the barbershop. He went a little far and stopped. He saw a man in rags, unclean, shabby hair and untrimmed, long beard. He went back, back to the barbershop. And he said to the barber,”You know what, Barbers don’t exist!”
The barber said,”How can you say that? I’ve just cut your hair! And I’m standing before you!” But the man said,”No! Barbers don’t exist! Tell me, if barbers existed, would there be people with shabby hair and untrimmed beard like that man outside?” The barber said,”That happens when people don’t come to me.”
“Exactly!”, the man replied,”God exists! The only problem is that we don’t go to Him!”

I hope you understand this… Go to God and He will show you the right way..

    Hi Andrew

I’m going to take your post one item at a time.

    You say
    1) “I’m not sure if god exists, and I am starting to lean towards atheism”
Do you have Salvation, are you born again?
It does not sound as though you have a relationship with God, or ever have.

    You say
    2) “for all the terrible things god does it just seems so unlikely that there is a god”
God just doesn’t seem to come up to your standards does He?
I mean if you were God, you would be so much more compassionate wouldn’t you?
    Scripture says

    Joh 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    1Jn 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
That then sounds kind of contradictory to what your picture of God is, who then should we believe, you or scripture?

    You say
    3) ” why would he create cancer? or mosquitos? it just doesn’t make sense to me”
First of all I just have a feeling, there are a lot more things on your list, than Cancer, and Mosquitos.
So Cancer and Mosquito’s just doesn’t make sense to you, but believing that God created them does, for what purpose, just to be the big bad ogre of a God you seem to think He is?
Well I have to admit, God did create the beloved Mosquitoes, but when He created them, they didn’t suck blood, or pass around disease, that was mans doing (AKA ADAM), and as far as Cancer, that was part of the package we call the curse, that also came from ADAM.
Just so you can comprehend what I am saying, God Created the Heavens and the Earth, and everything in them, (Physical things) and they were good, and in order with everything God is, man corrupted everything, that’s EVERYTHING, by SINNING.
Gen 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

    You say
    4) “I believe it would just be a lot easier to just give in and give up on god. I think it would just be a lot easier to stop believeing in something that is probably just whowee and start believeing in nothing… why not right?”
You are 100% right, it would be a lot easier to give up and start believing in nothing, but who then do you call out to the next time you run into a problem in your life you cannot overcome, I mean something you really need supernatural help with?
“OH” by the way when you cuss, you will have to find another name to use in vain, because it then becomes pointless, to use the name of a being you don’t believe in, right?
Also, why is it that you seem to be perfectly fine with anything Satan has done, but God is to blame for all of the EVIL in the world?
So yes it is a lot easier to write God off as not worth the trouble, but in the long run it will be your immortal soul, that will pay for your neglect in not coming to the knowledge of the truth. But then again that’s what everyone wants these days, the easy way out, no one is willing to put out the effort it takes to Humble yourself and acknowledge there really is a God, a Creator of the Universe, and I am NOTHING.

About this time I start wondering,
    1) Do you personally have Cancer?
    2) Has someone you have known, or loved died from Cancer?
    3) How old you are?

Every single one of your viewpoints, do not make any sense to someone who knows the Lord, so my suggestion would be, pick up a Bible, and start to seek the truth, rather than what you think might be the truth. Find out for yourself what God truly is like, before you start voicing the assumptions you have.

If you have some logical questions that would help you to come closer to God then we are here to answer them for you, but this kind of a discussion goes nowhere, it then all comes down to your opinions, and opinions are like noses, every body has one.

    Be Blessed

  3. JezykaFreak says:

This is what I think. I could be wrong. I’m sure God knows better than me, but…

God created the world, a beautiful world with both good and the opportunity for evil. God made the world the way He did with this yin/yang, with this dark/light, with this good/evil because… because without sorrow there can be no compassion. because death isn’t the worst thing in the world. How do you think God feels about pain and death? Pain is only temporary and death just allows you to finally be with God.. Life isn’t all there is to it. So, why do you mind that this world is failing. This isn’t the world God prepared for us ultimately. It’s the world he made to test us. And this good/bad world is beautiful, especially when we make it beautiful by forgiving the mosquitos and by caring about the person with cancer… if nothing was ever wrong, how would we learn to care? God made this life to prepare us for the next.. for noone that has free will could ever be “okay” in heaven, they could never be “okay” with meeting God.. and be adjusted to living in Heaven without first having undergone preparation here on earth, without first learning to love God here…

People only trust their own experiences. God gives us our whole lifetime to learn. Our whole lives to figure out why we should love Him so that we’ll be prepared to love everyone without question in Heaven. I also believe that everyone gets the chance to come to God… except babies of course,, people before the age of reason… I’m sure that God doesn’t send dead babies to burn in hell without even knowing what suffering is. I don’t know exactly what he does with babies, but I’m sure it’s nothing bad.. and everyone else on earth is given fair and adequate opportunity to come to Him.

    That’s what I think.

    • Timothy Luke says:

There is a story in the Bible that indicates the mercies of God on children and clearly tells of an example of Him having one day as a child before they could be corrupted forever by their parents.  You may wish to read it… so I will cut and paste it here!

1Ki 14:2  And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.
1Ki 14:3  And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.
1Ki 14:4  And Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
1Ki 14:5  And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.
1Ki 14:6  And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.
1Ki 14:7  Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,
      1Ki 14:8  And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;
1Ki 14:9  But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:
1Ki 14:10  Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.
1Ki 14:11  Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it.
1Ki 14:12  Arise thou therefore, get thee to thine own house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.
1Ki 14:13  And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

    • But god supposedly plans out our lives. Why does he plan for us to fail? Why does he plan for babies to die before they get a chance? Why does he plan for people to go crazy? Why does he plan for them to go crazy and they end up in institution with no family or friends?

  4. newlight says:

In response to cancer it is way more prevelent these days than ever before and these cancers are normally made by man made things not god. Polution is general is a big cancer causing agent caused by man and technology and tabacco yes maybe that was made by god but was it him that caused us to smoke it? and was it him that told the tabacco companies to put other man made chemicals into tabacco and make it much more addictive and dangerous to our health? In terms of other forms of cancer I am not so sure, all I know is that cancer is alot more prevalent these days than ever before in history. In terms of mosquitos i am not sure, but they probably have there task in nature in some respects although i am not sure myself what that is. These are conclusions I have reached on my own not researched from the bible, but all evil on this world is inspired by man and man’s own free will or from satan himself. We are even responsible for alot of natural disasters because of how we are treating this earth i believe. God and Jesus have nothing but love for us all my friend and I hope you do not loose your faith.

  5. SwiftHorse says:

What goes into the eyes, goes into the heart, and what goes into the heart comes out of the mouth. Its pretty much like this, God cares for those who cares for what he cares for, and he does things for those who does those things for him. If you know you cant find a answer then you have to ask God himself for the evidance you need, because no one else can give you that. You can read, and read about the testimoneys of others, and eventhough your amazed by it, you havent actually seen anything for youself. If God is a interest to you, then you have to seek out what he wants you to do, from him himself, and not from a person. People can be as good hearted as they come, and mean well in trying to help you, but without a personal relationship with God its all kind of pointless. The bible doesnt say, go listen to teachers, or pastors, or preachers, it says seek out the kingdom of God first, then everything else will be added to your life. If you dont have the interest in your own salvation, and find out from God what you need to do in order to achieve that, you wont know where to go to get that. Its when you add the work to what interests you, does God step in and help, and not untill then. You have to go through the motions, with prayer, or God cant help you, and its the only way to overcome the world.

If you hang out in the church’s you may eventually see a miracle when someone changes, and how that works is when you get to know how the people are around you, and you see them change, in a blink of an eye. They call it a born again experaince, but i know better. Its actually somone who whats to learn from God and they feel they cant because of something they are doing, so God takes that away, and a type of joy fall over them. It doesnt have anything to do with any denomination of church, it has to do with the faith a person has, and what they see is happening around them. It really doesnt have anything to do with what they teach or say things are, those things are what God teach’s us through looking for him and salvation. Everything has more to do with the people and what they do, than anything, so its more about what we do for ourselves. If we put our salvation in the hands of every fool that said here is Jesus, come and be saved, no one would be.

Jesus showed the path of the rightous by example, by listening to his Father in heaven, and doing the things he was shown to do. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. Just because the word is written doesnt mean God cant speak them in the manner he intends them to be. Nothing is impossible for God, he is the one who makes the rules, and he is the one who can change them for you to overcome evil, and find your way. Just because someone says to you that if you believe Jesus has saved you doesnt mean its so, because God has the say so, the final word on that. If you go to the wrong place to be saved, they are cursed by God, because God didnt tell them to say what they are saying. Its kind of like this, if you were to say your dad gave you permission to do something when he didnt, just because you wanted to do it. He wouldnt have given permission. God gave his son to reopen the door that was closed to mankind because of Adam, where one man sinned all had sinned, and where one man didnt sin, all didnt sin. But we do all sin, even if we are not aware of it, even if Jesus died on the cross. Its not Jesus that grants our salvation, its God that is now open to us. It is by seeking him out, and doing what he wants done.

God opened up everything and showed it to me, and was i shocked. Everything for the most part was not true, except Jesus died on the cross in hopes i would figure out what to do, the same chance everyone else has. God allowed me to do everything that was written in the bible as for what people can do, and then some things that people know but are not written as such but depicted in pictures. When i say there most definatley is a God our Father, its because i walked with him, and doing so can describe what has taken place within the bible by example. Its funny to hear some say that it must be the devil doing it to me, and i can only think of what Jesus said at the time they told him that. Then i think its funny that people will tell me thats wrong, and God doesnt do that, and i can only think about thats what everyone is doing now, listening to someone who says they are like that but are not. They say that God did this thing or did that thing, but thats not what God does, if someone is going to talk for God, God is going to fully translate things for them to understand, through thier walk with him. Its not that the bible is life, its that God is life, and people have written about that. Its the walk to salvation that everyone in the bible is doing, and without that and without the example of how its done, the bible is to hard to understand. Think of it like this, if people were not the same, then they couldnt understand what someone else was going through, and going through the same things, working with God couldnt do the same things as others. So there has to be creation from God in his image to be able to understand what someone else was going through seeking salvation, in order for God to help. Its where the heart is.

    Peace and Love in Jesus.

  6. michael says:

Evil is the moral space where God’s will has been rejected. God is not to blame for evil. Also, if there is no God, then even the talk of evil and good is meaningless. Those concepts just become nothing more than the personal preferences of those who are in power, or of people’s individual opinions. For paedophiles, what we call child abuse is not evil, its a beautiful thing for them. But if there is an absolute standard of good and evil anywhere, it cannot be derived from changing moral fashions that people embrace.

Its not very easy to believe in a world where there is no real purpose or meaning or answer to the question “Why am I here?” Atheism has its own set of problems for those who choose to think that way.

You are talking as if there is no real evidence for God. Why not read the testimonies on this site, and on other sites if you are interested in the evidence for a personal God. Follow the evidence where it leads. Philosophy, by the way, is not evidence.

  7. docindahouse says:

I asked the same questions…I searched…I almost killed myself. I was empty, nothing made sense. Then I found Him. Or He found me… Faith is evidence that God is real. The fact that I can say this, is evidence. Do not give up!!! The truth is, He is the only possible answer to everything…cause love covers all…
And God did not create cancer…rebellion did. OUR rebellion against God.
I cannot explain it, I do not understand most of it. But I do know God.
Please, do not look at my inadequate answer…look at Him!!!
His Word will reveal things in your heart.
ps God healed my cancer. I am the one that created it.
His limitless love is the answer. That can change the world. It changed me.
    So please. Don´t give up.
