The apostle Paul leaped to the alter to the unknown God and declared, this is Christ, the unknown God. Halloween is not PAGAN. There is no PAGAN. That is the good news of Christ. That we are liberated from our superstitions. That all are saved. If and how you choose to celebrate Halloween is your own decision. I assure you, halloween isn’t going away tomorrow, but you can make a difference and begin a celebration practice which leads to a life full of sharing with children goodness and joy as opposed to sharing stories of ghosts, goblins and and other tales which lead to nothingness.

I agree that the celebration of Jesus’s birth at Christmas time is a fantastic doorway to introduce people to the truth of the messianic prophecy in the bible.

Some people worship frogs and cows in other countries also considering them sacred.

If I own a frog or a cow as a pet or livestock, I am not worshipping them.

It is the same with Christmas. We choose to celebrrate Christs physical entrance into our world on Christmas day because we do not know the exact day, and also the catholic church originally did it to try to do away with and replace pagan customs with one to honor God. I see no problem with taking that day to honor God. In fact, it is nice that many people at least have one day out of the year in which they are reminded of their Christian heritage and the wayward have a chance to be pulled back to him.

Let’s celebrate our Lord openly without complaining while there is still light. Soon the darkness will make it difficult to spread the true light. Let us use this to our advantage that we can still tell of his gospel and story openly regardless of what day it is.

what bother me is the pagan origin. Why we Christians can’t have Christian rock? Because its origins are evil.Do you think that God can build on any corrupt foundation?

      Look here Exodus 34:12-13

“Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:”
Why God is telling Israel to destroy their altars and not to change them and make them for him?

      2cor 6:14-16 says
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people”

And here is the question I need we Christians to discuss:
If Xmass day wasn’t the day messiah was born, then what fellowship hath with Jesus?

  3. I think Tim have good point!for If we need to celebrate our messiah’s birthday then we have to choose another day, specially dedicated to Him only(with no pagan bases) and tell everybody that it is not Jesus’birthdate celebration but we have chosen it to honor him for his tender love that caused him to be born Man.I think that will be best.Only fact that xmass has pagan basis made me hate tocelebrate. But as long as all days are for God,I dont hate the day but THE CELEBRATION!!!

  4. I understand Michael what you mean.It is true that every day belong to God.As you have said Oct 31 will be good day if you celebrate your daughter’s birthday and no scripture tells you you will perish by doing that!
The same day you will be putting yourself in trouble if you practice Halloween right! Now my point is:Xmass was designed by catholic ,connected to their pagan gods, then how can it differ from Halloween?Even if people will do good things;but if are for Halloween then they are wasting their time
Evil foundation can’t be used to lay on Godly things

    • Please read Romans 14 about the question of celebrating special days. I think about verse 5.

    • God is VERY relational. The Father is just that, our Father. He could have chosen any number of titles; Supreme Commander, General, Boss, President, Chancellor, etc. to describe his position to us. He chose “Father” because that is his nurturing and protective heart towards us.

Jesus was first the God of the Old Testament. Romans 10:4 says He was the Rock that followed them in the wilderness. He expressed His relationship quite explicitly in Ezekiel 16. He is our husband. Numerous times he tells us of the sting of our whoredoms and adulteries which happen when we seek to find our security and covering in the worship of false gods [identified as devils in Lev 17:7 “And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.”] Also in seeking out national alliances for our protection.

Jesus is the Boaz who ransomed us from the near kinsman. He is the one who redeems us today from being married to the god of this world, Satan. Jesus loves us so much that he subjected his life to the mercies of our false lover who is a pimp – prostituting us out and hold us captive against our will. Jesus gave his life to redeem us from the pimp who brutalized us daily for his own pleasure, with total contempt for our lives.

I used to keep Christmas as a child, then forsook it for decades, legalistically. Then it was open to me again under the Romans 14 understanding. For me, I choose to not keep this day because my husband knows who began the day and who it originally honored. It began as a day of honor to the one who once pimped Jesus’ bride and sought her destruction.

For me to keep Christmas is as if I went out and said, “Hey Lord, come let’s celebrate the day my pimp came into my life. I know I am yours, and he has no power over me, but just for the memories…” Things like this are like the pictures of former lovers sitting on the headboards of our marriage bed — they do not do much for a loving, caring, sensitive God who came to save us from these things.

Jesus, as Lord of Israel told them: “Deu 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
Deu 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Deu 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Deu 18:12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
Deu 18:13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.”

I cannot judge another man’s conscience on this, but I can challenge the perspective and let them decide if it bears witness with God’s spirit in them.

Blessings to you all and let’s hold onto the faith and onto each other as we make our way, seeing through a glass darkly….

  5. It could be a useful tradition, as it gives us an opportunity to get people to church who would not come otherwise, and Jesus has a small place in our culture through it.

I don’t think God requires us to celebrate it, but I don’t believe He objects if we do either. It can be a loving thing to celebrate Christmas with our family.

No day is evil in itself. My daughter was born on October 31, Halloween. So was about .3% of the world’s population.

We don’t know exactly which day of the year Jesus was born on. So the church picked a day based on the winter solstice to celebrate his birth.
