Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” This verse even though true in the natural, however does not talk about the physical condition of the heart but the intellectual, and specially the ethical core.
One of the most important thing every believer must do is to guard their intake. What you hear, what your read, what you see – all of it determines the outcome of your life.
Is there something that is causing damage to your heart? Show no mercy and remove it out of your life. Do you have friends who speak negative over your life? (Or may be just gossip carriers) Try and tell them as kind as you can that you are not against them but that those words are not helping you.
Don't worry about upsetting them, if they are your real friends, they'll stay your friend. What you soak in what you give out. It may be a doctors report, a sad news or hurting words.
Determine to fix your eyes on Jesus and don't let anything else matter to you. Jesus is with you and that is all really matters!
Find friends who encourage you and motivate you to go deeper in God. Even if you struggle to find one, don't let that hinder you in your walk with God. You have the best friend anyone can ever have – the Holy Spirit with you!
