How to Break Curses

Primary reason for curses:

(a) Not hearing God's voice

(b) Not doing what He says There are seven blessings and seven curses referred to in the law in Scripture.

Seven blessings: (Deuteronomy 28)

(1) Exaltation

(2) Reproductiveness

(3) Health

(4) Prosperity, success

(5) Victory

(6) That we are the head and not the tail

(7) That we will be above and not beneath

There are seven curses referred to in the same chapter:

(1) Humiliation

(2) Barrenness

(3) Sickness of every kind

(4) Poverty, failure

(5) Defeat

(6) We will be the tail and not the head

(7) We will be below and not above

Indications of Curses:

(1) Mental, emotional breakdown

(2) Repeated sickness, especially hereditary sickness -doctors can't find the cause

(3) Feminine problems -barrenness, miscarriage, menstruation problems

(4) Breakdown of marriage -family alienation

(5) Financial insufficiency, poverty. Sometimes poverty for a short period is just a test but if we are always in poverty it could be a curse.

(6) Accident prone

(7) History of unnatural deaths

A curse can be something like an evil thing moving up from the past. It is like a deep shadow.

Proverbs 26:

2. A curse is:

"Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight."

Therefore, a curse requires a cause to alight.

(1) Having false gods (Exodus 20: 3& 4, Deuteronomy 27: 15)

(2) Disrespect for parents (Deuteronomy 27: 16)

(3) Treachery against a neighbour (Deuteronomy 27: 17)

(4) Injustice to the weak (Deuteronomy 27: 18& 19)

(5) Illicit sex (Deuteronomy 27: 20-23)

(Effect of wrong sexual relationships, particularly those outside of marriage or with members of one's family)

(6) Perjury (Deuteronomy 27: 25)

(7) Stealing (Zechariah 5: 1-4)

(8) Stinginess towards God (Malachi 3: 9)

(9) Perverting gospel (Galatians 1: 8& 9)

(10) Depending on the flesh (Jeremiah 17: 5)

(11) Anti-Semitism (Genesis 12: 3, Genesis 28: 3& 14)

1. God Himself God blesses and curses (Exodus 20: 3&5) Breaking the first two commandments:

(a) To have no other Gods

(b) Idolatry

Our God is a jealous God

2. All occult practices Making occultism your God, eg a fortune teller. It is the power behind the fortune teller that matters. In four generations we can have upwards of 30 ancestors.

3. Men who speak on behalf of God

(a) Joshua 6: 26, ie Joshua said, "Cursed be the man before the Lord who rises up and builds the city Jericho, he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates." This was fulfilled in 1 Kings 16: 34 nearly 500 years later when Hiel of Bethel built Jericho, he laid its foundation with Abriam, his first born, and with his youngest son Segub he set up its gates according to the Word of the Lord which he had spoken through Joshua the son of Nun. Thus curses are self-perpetuating.

(b) 2 Samuel 1: 21 Statement by David: "Oh mountains of Gilboa, Let there be no dew, nor let there be rain upon you, Nor fields of offerings.

For the shield of the mighty is cast away there!" These were the fields of Gilboa upon which Saul and Jonathan had died and David was cursing them. Nearly 3, 000 years later this same curse was upon this land and the Jewish people had great difficulty a few years ago in trying to get trees to grow on it.

(c) 2 Kings 5 (Naaman) verse 27, cursed his servant with leprosy forever.

4. God's servants can do this today eg Jesus cursed the fig tree and said, "You can do this also."

5. Persons with relational authority eg husband over wife, parents over children. Words spoken have supernatural powers. The blessing of the father is important.

(a) Genesis 31 -Jacob and Rachel: Rachel had stolen her father's gods. Jacob did not know this and he said to her father, Laban: "`With whomever you find your gods, do not let him live. In the presence of our brethren, identify what I have of yours and take it with you. ' For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them." (Genesis 31: 32) ie, he was in effect saying that she should die, although, of course, he did not know she had stolen them and that she would feign sickness to avoid being discovered. She later died in childbirth.

(b) Examples where husband curses his wife or parents curse their children, eg a husband says to his wife, "You cannot cook", or the following statements are made in respect of other people including children:

"You are no good"
"You are useless"
"You are a failure"
"You will never be any good"
"You are hopeless"
"You will never achieve anything"
"You are ugly"
"You are a bad person"
"You are always a liar"
"It's in the family and you are sure to get it" etc etc.

6. Self-imposed curses which become like inner vows. Examples:
"I'll never be any good"
"I'll never forgive myself"
"God doesn't love me"
"I'll never speak to ….. again"
"I hate myself"
"No-one loves me"
"I want to die, I'm better off dead"

Examples from Scripture:
(a) Genesis 27: 13 Rebekah said: "Let your curse be on me" and in verse 46 she said: "I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth; … what good will my life be to me?" She brought a curse on herself.
(b) Matthew 27: 24& 25, the Jews said, "Let His blood be on us and our descendants".
(c) Peter denied the Lord three times
7. Curses brought on by unscriptural covenants:

Exodus 23: 32: "You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods." We are to make no covenant with those who are not committed as Christians. Freemasonry is an example of that with self-imposed curses, eg the 32nd degree

2 Corinthians 6: 14-17: "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you."

8. Curses put on by the servants of Satan eg witch doctors, medicine men, tohungas etc. Example: Numbers 22: 4& 6. Note this was a request by Moab to Balam to pronounce curses on Israel. It was a matter of their gods versus the true God. When people fought one another in the old days, they regarded it as a fight between their gods and the other gods, eg David and Goliath.

1 Samuel 17: 43: " So the Philistine said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?" And the Philistine cursed David by his gods."

Other reasons for curses:

1. Objects in homes (Deuteronomy 7: 26) We are to have no abominable thing our home. This can cause children to be disturbed.

2. Soul ties These are soul ties which are contrary to God's purposes. Eg, in adultery, fornication (especially past sexual relationships). Ungodly soul ties can bring spiritual sickness. 1 Corinthians 6: 18: "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."

Examples of wrongful sex are as follows:

Pre-marital sex Perverted sex

Trial marriages Homosexuality

Lesbianism Pornography and fantasy

Bestiality Transvestism

Sexual abuse

(a) Establishment of soul ties and bondings in the flesh other than with God's intended partner.

(b) Guilt and condemnation.

(c) Demonisation

(d) Emotional disturbance

What is sexual abuse?

Uninvited caressing

Uninvited handling of the sexual areas

Anal handling

Masturbation in front of a person

Forced oral sex

Forced mutual masturbation

Forced intercourse and rape

Ritualistic sex

All of these cause fear, confusion, deception.

Long term problems:

(a) Confusion of one's identity, sexuality, physical position and emotional situation.

(b) Causes regression and repression of memories. Causes fantasy.

(c) Breaking of trust.

(d) Causes rebellion including (i) self rejection (ii) fear of rejection and (iii) anger.

(e) Causes guilt and fear.

(f) Causes inability to respond to love.

(g) Causes desire to die.

(h) Causes physical illness.

(i) Causes damage to the spirit.

Also domination by one person over another, eg where a father dominates or sexually abuses his daughter.

1. We must recognise that there is a curse.

2. We must repent from all sin.

3. We must renounce in the name of Jesus Christ.

4. We must resist, eg James 4: 7: "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

5. Use the Word of God. The Word of God is powerful and such Scriptures as the following can be used:

Psalm 118: 17: "I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the LORD." We must realise that where there is a negative there should also be a positive. We recall that Peter denied the Lord three times but three times Jesus asked him, "Do you love me?" Peter had to revoke his earlier statement three times. Where curses have arisen from the servants of Satan, we must recognise Luke 10: 19: "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

1. Confess our faith in Jesus Christ.

2. Commit ourselves to be obedient to God and to hear and do what He says.

3. Confess any known sins on our own part or of our ancestors.

4. Forgive others.

5. Renounce the occult on our own part or on the part of our ancestors.

6. Renounce all contact with heathen objects.

1. Pray the Holy Spirit will fill every area of the person's life.

2. Give as much love and encouragement as is necessary and the person can receive.

3. Assure the person that where deliverance has taken place, they need not fear the enemy if they walk properly with God.

4. Encourage the person:

(a) To be continuously filled with the Holy Spirit.
(b) Read the Word of God daily.
(c) Wear the armour of God at all times.
(d) Be on their guard against the enemy's counter attacks.
(e) Be in good fellowship with other Christians.
(f) Walk continuously in forgiveness.
(g) Praise God in all circumstances.
(h) Keep the right company.

5. (a) Encourage people to be fully rehabilitated in their emotional responses
(b) To present themselves properly, eg in dress.
(c) To continue to re-learn right relationships with others.
(d) Avoid long-term dependency on others.

6. (a) Acknowledge the truth of Ephesians 1: 6, ie we are accepted in the beloved.
(b) Break free from any feeling of being cursed or being an abuse victim.

7. Walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, ie in the fruit of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness and temperance.

Ask everybody to stand and say the following Scriptures: Psalm 107: 2:

"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy."

Ephesians 1: 7: "In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace."

1 John 1: 7:

"But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."

Romans 5: 9: "Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him."

Hebrews 13: 12: "Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate."

1 Corinthians 6: 19& 20: "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's"

(Revelation 12: 11)

(a). Go through the occult check list and get people to tick anything that they have been in relating to the occult.

(b) Ask those who have been in the occult to stand and ask others to stand with them in order to pray for them.

(c) Then say the following prayer in regard to the occult:

"Lord Jesus Christ, I confess you are the only Son of God, that You died on the Cross for my sins and rose again. In Your name I now renounce all contact with the occult and in particular I renounce the following involvements in the occult ……………….. I receive Your forgiveness. Thank You Heavenly Father for delivering me in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ."

(d) The counsellors (ie those standing with the candidates for deliverance) should command the demons to go.

(a) Ask those to come forward who know that they still have soulish ties, that is sense there is still some tie between them and some other person with whom they have had a previous relationship. This includes cases where women feel under the domination of their mother or men feel under the domination of their mother.

(b) Get people to stand with them to pray for them.

(c) Pray the general prayer for deliverance from soul ties:

"Dear Heavenly Father, as I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ in the authority that is in that name, I break every soul tie affecting my body, soul or spirit, which has existed between myself and ………………. (name the individual). In the name of Jesus Christ, I specifically speak to every demonic power that has taken advantage of that link and I tell it that it has no rights here and it must leave now without going into any other member of my family. Thank you Lord Jesus that through Your shed blood and through Your wonderful name, I am able to be absolutely free. Thank you Lord."

(d) Get the people who need deliverance to cut the soulish ties around the people. Show them how to do this with a motion across the front of the body and across the head.

(e) The counsellors should command the demons to go.

(a) Ask those who know that they have made inner vows for which they need release to come forward and ask others to stand with them to pray for them again.

(b) Say the prayer and get the people to renounce those inner vows and as they do expect deliverance. "In the name of Jesus Christ, I specifically renounce all vows which I have made, knowing or unknowingly, against myself. I specifically renounce…..( name those vows which you have made and which you know to be wrong). I ask you to totally cleanse me and set me free from the results of those vows and I thank you for doing it."

(c) The counsellors should command the demons to go.

(a) Ask those who feel that they have had pronouncements or curses placed upon them to stand and get somebody to stand with them to pray for them.

(b) They should then say the following prayer: "Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the authority of that name I specifically renounce all curses that have been placed upon my life through the words of those who have abused and damaged me. I forgive them and I ask You Lord to release me from their consequences. Thank You Father, in Jesus' name."

(c) The counsellors should command the demons to go.

"Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ. I thank You Lord for Your love for me. I confess that Jesus Christ is my Lord and my Saviour and that He died and rose again from the dead.

I believe that through the blood of Jesus Christ I have been redeemed from the hand of the devil. I believe that through the blood of Jesus Christ all my sins have been forgiven.

I believe that through the blood of Jesus Christ I have been sanctified, made holy to God. I believe that through the blood of Jesus Christ I have been justified just as if I had never sinned.

I now confess all my sins. I confess that in my own strength I have been unable to defeat the attacks of the enemy. I specifically renounce the following sexual sin ………. I confess I have been wrong. I renounce all pleasure connected with these sins. I now turn from my sin. I ask You, Father, to forgive me all that is past and give me discernment when the temptation arises and the strength to resist it. I ask You to heal my memories and to heal the hurts and forgive me in Jesus name.

I also specifically renounce any other sins such as rejection, unforgiveness. I especially forgive the following persons ……………..

I specifically honour my parents and I forgive them. I renounce my own sins and the sins of my ancestors in the name of Jesus Christ. I especially renounce all idolatry, witchcraft and everything of the occult and all the hidden things of darkness. I especially renounce all idolatry, witchcraft and everything of the occult and all hidden things of darkness. I believe that at the Cross of Jesus Christ I was delivered from every curse of the law. I call upon You, Lord Jesus, to set me free from every demonic power that has affected me.

Lord, I now renounce Satan and all his works. I hate his demons. I count them my enemies in the name of Jesus. I loose myself from every dark spirit, from every evil influence, from every satanic bondage, from any spirit in me that is not the Spirit of God. I command all such spirits to leave me now in the name of Jesus.

I call upon You, Lord Jesus, to set me free from every demonic power that has affected me. In the name of Jesus Christ, Risen Saviour, I command every demonic power that has lived within me or oppressed me to leave me now in the name of Jesus Christ. I declare that I am a child of the Living God and that Satan has no right to inhabit any part of me or to oppress me. I thank You Lord Jesus and I give You the glory. Amen."

To be delivered:

(1) Confess the spirit in the name of Jesus.

(2) Renounce the spirit in the name of Jesus.

(3) Forgive others.

(4) Call on the name of the Lord Jesus.

I am a believer in trouble.  I believe I am under a curse or several curses that deal with alot in my past.  I feel the relationship I was in is breaking my spirit and leading me away from god.  I believe the past sexual encounters are also cursing me.  I have done things in my childhood and teenager years that I’m not proud of at all.  I have things that were even done in my adulthood I witnessed.  I witnessed something and it should have never happened and I didn’t flea.  I have had a rebellious childhood throughout my now adulthood.  I am having problems with my faith.  I know I believe.  I’m having trouble forgiving myself.  My mind races and I talk to myself.  I believe now that i have been uttering for quite sometime.  I think my dad was apart of an occult that I’m under a spell and I’m not sure.  My dad was a mason.  I have had an abusive relationship with my mother and father.  I was told a lot how stupid I was and how much of a failure I was.  I have disrespected my mother and father in the past.  My dad is now dead.  My mother is still living and I sometimes still continue to loose my respect for her.  I am struggling with a relationship with a girl that doesn’t respect me and I believe I’ve started to become the tail of the relationship because I was trying to forgive her.  I wanted a female companion and I’ve had relations before marriage.  I am still dealing with anxiety and worry when I go into public.  I cannot hold my tongue.  I’m getting weak in spirit and I think I’m started to effect everyone around me and I don’t like it.  I think I’m going to hell.  Please can somebody pray or help me.

    • Hi Robert, thankfully we have a very merciful Father God who because of Jesus’ blood has made a way for us to be accepted and blessed.

To get prayer support, get on skype and join the viral prayer network on skype. You can contact t.luke1 on skype for more on this.

Of course I have shot up a prayer for you, but your spirit needs to be built up through meditation on the Word of God – something you can do – and through fellowship with praying people.

  2. It is nearly one year that my husband has walked out on our marriage and home. It scares me to think he did not care much for it at all as he continually had affairs throughout the whole 5.5yrs and did not support the home.
This has been the breaking point why I was adamant that I wanted a divorce.
But neither party has started the proceedings.
I love my husband up to this day and wish him all the best.
It breaks my heart how we have failed this marriage.
I pray to God the healer, merciful Father for a firm hand on this matter. For whom God has brought together no man shall break.
Lord I cannot do anymore and I bring it to you.
I also bring my debt and professional worries to empty into your hands – I am weak and just want to rest by your side. Lord have mercy. How much can one person take? Lord hear my cry, hear your daughters’ cry.

  3. Hi, I have been a born again believer for several years now. I was abused, emotionally, physically and felt unwanted as a child. My gram took me in after God spoke to her to get me out of that house. I lived with my grandparents for a while til my dad demanded they send me home. Aweek later grandpa died. I was 4. My mom said, “I killed him.” broke his heart. I carried that for 26 years. My dad kept telling me I was sneaky, I’d never amount to nothing, I was lazy. He beat me. Mom beat me too, I always felt unloved. Except for my grandparents, love,
“Thank God.” I forgive my parents for they know not what they’ve done, nor do today. My mom got into witch craft when my dad walked out. she took up drinking as well. Dad became an alcoholic and so did my sisters. I am the only believer. I do not drink. I married at 21, had a daughter at 25, became born again. My husband turned out to be an abuser and drinker and adulterer. He left after 9 1/2 years. Anyways, I have been under such stress since then. I thought that when I came to Christ that He would make all things new, and that when I prayed earnestly He would hurry and help me. I almost lost my home twice now. I was robbed by a lawyer. He stopped paying my mortgage. My bank called me 2 months later. I got lies from this man. I finally was able to remodify my loan. But I want this man out of my way. I want to own my home free and clear! Right now I’m out of work living on workers comp. They just reduced my monthly checks by over $127. This does not even cover the mortgage. I am 100% disabled right now. i started crying today because I just can’t take it anymore. Everytime I get ahead, the devil steals from me. What is going on? He stole my childhood, my marriage, my security, my peace, my finances… It has been like a rollercoaster ride. up and down. We must break this cycle! The root, the curse must be broken and sent back from whence it came from. In Jesus name. amen
I am a warrior! God promised in His Word that He would answer me! He would restore the years the locust has stolen. I repent of all my sins, I break all soul ties and I rebuke all negative words, deeds and actions, rebuke all lack and poverty, rebuke all liars, thieves and pirates out of my way, now! In JESUS name. amen. And I ask that anyone who reads this will hold me up in urnest sincere prayer. For I know there’s strength in numbers! I want to pay off my home, so I really need a financial breakthrough, that noone can steal or sabatoge. Thank you, Father for answering my prayers.

    • Hi Marlene-

Will lift you up in prayer for the Lord to meet the next step for you.

What is put on my spirit for you is “forgiveness means blotting out”. You need to let go and bury your past”- the sign that something is blotted out is a lack of remembrance- then it has no hold on the present.

By prayer ask the Father to assist your dying to your old self and history. Prayer makes forgiveness real!

The other matter is, take one step at a time. The fact is the world is filled with sharks who prey on the vulnerable. If you wish to secure the Lord’s assistance- to overcome, seek it one step at a time; pray for the next step.

    • Timothy Luke says:

Dear Marlene, Thank you for sharing your battle with us so we can join you in prayer. We prayed for you earnestly this morning on our Skype prayer network. God is faithful and just. He loves you and has so much for you. I would like to share something from what you wrote that jumped to my attention. You wrote:

“He stole my childhood, my marriage, my security, my peace, my finances… It has been like a rollercoaster ride. up and down. We must break this cycle”

I am sorry the devil stole so many things from you. We cannot relive our childhoods, however, so we must live today for what it is, “the present” a gift from God to walk Godly in the necessities of the moment. “Take no anxious thought for tomorrow, for sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.”

The devil can try to steal our peace, but ultimately, it is we who hand it over to him. It is time to take your peace back my sister. I want you to know I am for you, not against you, as I share these things. I want you to WIN this victory! Having said that, I sense a tremendous amount of fear mixed with your proclamations of faith. Am I correct in this?

You have a number of needs. God sees that plainly.

Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Mat 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? *

Mat 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Mat 6:27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
Mat 6:28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
Mat 6:29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Mat 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Mat 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. **
Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

*By taking anxious thought for these things, we have wrested them out of God’s hands and taken it upon ourselves to provide in our limited strength. We are either serving God – and having peace about the needs of this life, or we are serving mammon – and having fear about the needs of this life. I desire for you to have peace, my sister. (I know this is easier said than done, but someone has to say it and regardless – you have to do it to abide in His peace and provision).

**God wants to add these things to you. He wants to hand you the keys to your new life – He does not want us to snatch them from his hand. His blessing WILL overtake you as you learn to rest in Him.

There is a sense of entitlement that some preach. They preach health and wealth as our rights as Christians. In this they are wrong. This is a western, materialistic, gospel. What do we say to our brothers and sisters in the third world, who like Lazarus, sleep in the open air and have dogs licking their wounds? Yet, Lazarus was received into glory for eternity. Let us compare our lot with Lazarus’ life and let us give thanks and praise for all we have above and beyond that. When we can come to this place, we have a foundation for the Lord to build the rest of His provision for us upon. (I had to pause in writing this to you because my daughter just popped onto my lap as she woke up. I told her you have a daughter her age and we both prayed for you both)

Michael has an excellent proclamation of prosperity. You can click it HERE. You will notice it begins with obedience and is consistent with Jesus’ command to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.”

God’s ways bring health and healing. His spirit operates in power, as it did in the New Testament church. The gifts are for us to operate in today. But, we must not be presumptuous and demanding of the blessing. Matthew 6:33 tells us the Lord will add it unto us. it is not ours to shout down from the heavens.

Marlene, God will never leave you nor forsake you. That means He is with you right now. You are a fighter – which you have needed to be to survive. But, God wants to fight your battles for you, and sometimes we need to learn to get out of the battlefield so He can bring in His heavy artillery and go to work. The battle belongs to the Lord.

It is one thing to say, “I repent of all my sins,” but, if we have sin in our hearts and do not see it as sin, then have we truly repented? I dare say you have made these declarations before, but may be hurt and confused as to why they have not “worked.” – I am speaking in love here, not judgment. I want you to be FREE! If there is fear in your heart, there is sin. How do I know?

Because sin is the transgression of the law, 1 John 3:4. God’s law is love. and perfect love casts out fear, whoever is walking in fear is not walking in love.

Marlene, you have a MAJOR challenge, my dear sister. Your father who was created to model God’s love and provision and covering for you, instead modelled Satan’s heart to expose and abuse you. But, he still carried the title and position of “father” – so God becomes guilty by association. Internally you have emotions that come into play at the thought of ‘father’. It is hard to trust your heavenly Father to provide for you, when you have had to fight for every good thing you could from your earthly father. God will help you work through all these things. They take time.

Ask if you have truly forgiven from your heart. You have come a long way. I am proud of you. The Lord will sustain you in the way and bring you into His glory. Let’s thank Him for the little things along the way. You are not forsaken.

Psalms 27:10 “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. ”

      • Dearest Brother and friend in Christ, Timothy Luke;
that was a truly inspiring act in Gods Amazing Love for us in others. Sir I must say you have the ways of a Saint to give to another as you have the comforting words to release the past of evil or wrong doings or thoughts that was put upon a person that might say they trust in God but from being raised in in hard love so it be normal because that is what was taught. May the Lord Jesus Christ shower you i Blessings from your grace and as you minister from His love of you as you share…:::…Love Always:::Love in Christ Jesus Holy Name,,,Amen and Amen

  4. Wendylovesjesus says:

We as believers are to preach the “Good News” not bad news. We are to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and give people the hope that we have accepted as believers. I do not believe God wants us walking around in fear that we are under a “generational curse” or “spell” or whatever else. “For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.” When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior , we are sealed by the Holy Spirit, and covered under the blood of Christ. “Behold, the old man is dead, and is a new creation in Christ” (not those exact words, these are my words because I don’t have my bible in front of me). I don’t have my bible in front of me to give the verses. God loves us so much that He gave His only begotten son to die on the cross for us.. Why? We are no longer under the spirit of the law, but under the law of grace. So, if all of what you’re saying is true, then why not continue to slaughter Rams and Bulls for each and every sin we commit? Sounds ridiculous, right? There is no biblical basis to your doctrine. Jesus’ last words were “it is finished.” What is finished? His blood was the perfect sacrafice for our sins (believers).

The real question is, is the Christian person that has a curse or spell on them Born-Again? Because many claim to be Christian, but have not surrendered their life fully to Jesus, and yet claim to be Christian because they have believed with their minds and not their hearts, therefore they are no different from an non-believer. “The demons believe, and they tremble.” This belief is out of fear, not out of love. A born-again Christian’s belief is a willing disposition to Love and Obey God. A born-again character becomes Christ-like and bears fruit. “You will know them by their fruits” In Luke it says “Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.” If one continues in habitual sin, they are not born-again because the Holy Spirit can not be grieved for too long….. If one is under a curse or a spell, they are most likely not born-again.

Bottom line, a born-again believer is not under the law, but under grace, and therefore CAN NOT be under a spell or curse. Perhaps a generational curse (questionable) but a prayer from the heart should break the curse…. I don’t think it needs to be a lengthy, fancy prayer. God knows your heart, and is not legalistic. 🙂

I encourage everyone reading this to do your due diligence and search scriptures and ask your Pastor questions regarding this topic. I could be wrong, but the bible is not. However, I do know we are not under the law, but under grace, and Jesus’ death on the cross was a perfect sacrafice for my sins.

    God bless!

    • Timothy Luke says:

“Out of sight, out of mind” is not a spiritual principle. This is not merely a point of theological discussion, it is a matter of fact that the church is as sick as the world. Statistically the hospitals and psyche wards have the same proportionate numbers of Christians to non-Christians.

The fear of evil often leads people to close their eyes to the working of the devil in the church.

Having said that, dear sister. I often must minister to people who become focused more on the reality of demonic presence and interference than on the delivering power of God. This too is another form of fear of evil. Derek Prince’s book “Blessing or Curse: You can Choose” is one I would ask you to read for further insight.

To acknowledge the presence of a curse is not to deny the power of the cross. It is the beginning of seeking the provision of Jesus Christ to walk in victory. “You say you have no sin, therefore your sin remains,” is a saying of Jesus. It also applies to the devil’s oppression of Christians in my experience.

It is no coincidence the Lord used “Blessing or Curse: You can Choose” as the final step to my Christian wife and I being set free from a disease that had her homebound for over 6 1/2 years. I highly recommend it. We grew up as Christians who were not walking in the blessings. Here is a way to find out if you need spiritual deliverance.

If you are a Christian, read Deuteronomy 28. If your life reflects the reality of the first 14 verses, you are doing GREAT! Don’t worry about looking for trouble. If you life reflects more the reality of the last verses, you are walking under the shadow of the curse still, but now in Christ you have the ability to take the land of promise the Lord has for you in this life….

      I hope that helps.

  5. thank you so much – I needed this urgently

  6. Thank you for posting this information. I was searching to find a prayer to help change my life. My husband and I both seem to have problems getting ahead in life..we’ve been married for 30 years..and come from disfunctinal childhoods..I don’t know if there is a curse on us. but i plan to pray that if there is that God remove it and we are allowed to prosper . I was blessed with writing Poetry since childhood and in 1985 i was blessed with the talent of Sculpting. Once i made 2,000.00 at a 2 day art show. but that was 1999….it seems that i have no confidence in myself and do’t know how to use these talents to get ahead in life..i’m a nursing assistant by trade…but would like to prosper from the talents God gave me ..i believe they are gifts from God because they found me..i never tried to have these talents. I just found one day i could do them…
my husband at the age of 58 is back in trade school, he’s been on the deans list for a year now..and is so worried about his age, the times we are in, etc…we was both mentaly and me sexually abused as a child, and it seems we have never been able to get ahead in this world…we survive and pay our bills. but we just get by. hopefully this artice will help me..I’ve been saved since 1985 and i pray daily..My husband told me a long time ago that back in the 60’s he took a vow of poverty….how can i remove it from my life if he doesn’t remove it himself? he believes in God, but he’s not one to pray like I do..can his actions be affecting me and if so, how can i be seperated from his vow? Also can my childhood pain or some/all of my past realtives actions be affecting my life now? if so, can i be seperated from their mistakes???
    thanks again.

      Luke 6:28

You and your family need deliverance. Instead of finding a Scripture or two about curses and deliverance. I want to recommend that you search diligently and earnestly throughout the Bible and find all that you can. I also recommend that your family be a part of this. You must first have faith in Jesus, for without Him can you be freed from this curse nor can you be freed from the the curse of sin.

“Pray without ceasing”, “seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.” Seek Him, for “He knowest the hearts of all men” and “He knoweth all things.” Live in such a way that declares what you find. If you find that you already have this freedom, than live in such a way that declares that to all. If you find that you must do something and ask for it, than you must do something, or ask for it. Obey the Scriptures with all that you are and have.

I hope that everyone on here may agree to pray for you with me and also to leave you with your search of the Scriptures. I know that in searching you will find much more than you can possibly imagine and it will change you.

      • Hi, thank you for the above information. I might have a similar situation regarding an ex-girlfriend of mine who claimed to be a “good, meaning not evil” white witch. Nevertheless I didn’t know anything about it or of the occult at that time (two years ago) but when our relationship ended very soon (obviously as I always proclaimed my Christian faith) and the relationship ending very sour, she threatened me in placing spells and curses against or upon me. A few months ago I joined a new church where deliverances are practised at each service, and the first time I walked into the church a lady came up to me and said she saw “in the spirit” a cursed chess board that I own and that she needs to pray for me immediately as someone is chanting against me through the chess board. So before the service commenced we started praying and while praying the lady started picking up all kinds of things about this character placing spells and curses towards me, she described this ex-girlfriend of mine in detail, even describing an anarchy formed tattoo on her friends body, this while she has never met her or me before that morning. Apparently she recognised a soul-tie and broke it for me in prayer, even though our relationship wasn’t sexual but apparently a tie can even be formed through kissing and general non-sexual intimacy… So after so long after this relationship ceased I was under some terrible curses being transferred to me by the means of the soul tie and the chess board (I got the chessboard from her as a gift) and it made sense that after this relationship things did go unexplainably wrong in my life. I burnt the chessboard, and destroyed all objects that I got from her afterwards. The problem is that at church the pastor and intercessors are busy almost all the time, and don’t find the opportunity for complete prayer assistance from them, and I still don’t feel right about everything. Are there any additional biblical guided prayers that will completely give closing on this matter that I may pray privately until things get back to what it was in my life?

I know it was a foolish thing to be unevenly yoked but at that time not being to educated about the matter I was hopeful that she would repent of the witching as she told me she didn’t want to do it anymore.

This is an interesting forum but sadly like other blogs, there is always someone putting others down with their views. The secular world does this enough and it is a source of frustration to see it goes on in God’s name.
Thankyou for your comment Stef – am sure some will say, as I have copped, “You are not born again,” or insinuate that you must be doing something you are not telling us about.
Those who know me, also know my life has been dedicated to our saviour – and praise God, without forcing it on them, so have my kids. But do you know, I have had 4 distinct times in my life where someone openly questioned my faith – “Can’t speak in tongues or remember the date you were saved? You’ll have to do it again ‘cos you’re not saved.” “Bad things happening to you? You’re not saved.”
I can fully identify with your post. After a life of tragedy and unexplained difficulties I was given a recording of Derek Prince’s by a sister who saw that curses were over me. At first I was insulted because my mother had practiced the occult and I had ignored it… This made it sound to me that I must be doing what she was… This recording and instruction made a great deal of difference in my life…until my marriage, which was certainly an uneven yoking, and one which I endured because well meaning family and christian friends said was my duty.
One day I came in and found my husband hissing at my child while she sobbed and asked why he didn’t love her, “You should never have been born. You wrecked my life.” Later on I walked in and found her cutting her wrists. This is a girl who knew the christian attitude towards suicide yet she honestly believed that death was better than what was happening!
From the time I walked out to protect my children, things have gone from bad to great, to bad, to worse – so ‘worse’ in fact that total strangers laugh about the witches or gypsies we must have upset…
As I type, my family no longer talk to me – because I finally stood up to members of my own atheist family threatening to kill my children. My son in law is overseas, too ill to return home. My daughter had to return to Perth and was put in hospital before she could even get back on her own two feet. No diagnosis and deathly bad health. Our finances are crippled – we have gone from comfortable to loss of a business, investment gone under, debt mounting – money can go into my account at 9am and by 10am it is gone. Where, I do not know but without fail and regardless of the meticulous budgeting and tithing/offering I have always done (and even made fun of my ‘better’ christians who gave just a few dollars) even before my pay goes in, within minutes something will happen – car, accident, sickness, theft, etc – to steal it away – even before bills can be paid…
This is only the tip of the iceberg and all throughout I have stayed true to the word, prayed, did all the right things and refused to hate or judge. In that time, we left one church by choice because of actual threats and gossip. Our pastors counselled us to stay and also counselled those involved but by the end of it, the church split down the middle and 5 years later is still struggling to even get 20 people in the door. Such beautiful leadership yet one or two nasty and openly hostile ‘elders’ have stripped that place bare. Our next church was such a blessing until a few who struggled spiritually but rose through the ranks attacked us. Rather than stay to fight we left.
Our faith wont waiver and we constantly are in prayer, breaking whatever is over us, having total strangers see who and what is over us (no one can see that without divine guidance!).
But regardless of what some people feel they have to put over, that they have all the answers, curses from outside influences can and do happen.

Our lives are getting better but it’s not a magic switch. Jealous and resentful people will slap more on you as soon as you think things are better. Prayer – constant prayer and destruction of all those items which may be involved. That is a huge undertaking because it can be as simple as a gift or even a purchase while on holiday – or heirloom… Getting too complacent is as bad as thinking you know it all. I made that mistake and see others do it all the time. I have seen it in nations where faith is diluted with witchcraft – it’s not make believe. If it were, Jesus would have instructed those he saw on the road after the resurrection, to tell the world it is over, they don’t need to be alert any more, because we’d all be perfectly saved and the devil would never be able to touch anyone. Yes, the veil is torn, yes we are saved by the blood, but don’t ever be so confident to think that you are above attack.
Steph, for you I definitely don’t know all the answers but praise God you saw.

        • Hi Stef! Thanks for sharing. That Church woman really revealed good stuff and should have been followed up. I am in a terrible situation. Witchcraft manipulationd, torments, etc from people’s spirits. Can you link me to the Church member that was revealing things about your ex to,please?

      • Hi.. I am born again in Jesus.. a older US veteran, face injuries and so ugly…..and while no criminal record and no adult history of substance abuse… I live in a dead end job now for nearly 3 years.

I work part time in exchanve for a studio apartment, and sleep on the floor. I have applied for over 5,000 jobs since I returned to the USA on Aug 21, 2011… and i am cursed by the people I work for. Last years tax reported income was under $1,500.00 I eat on food stamps..and have worked every holiday, no vacation or sick days in 3 years, and am on-call 24/7. Yet, I have no respect or dignity in a job where I am cursed and put down by the secular managers of REACH CDC.. They lost 33% of all staff in 2014, and nearly 40% in 2015…but the upper manager simply ‘replace the bodies’ as fast as possible. So it’s not me. I am honest, faithful, diligent, positive and all-inclusive. But there is nothing but a death-job in a death-company and city..and I am so tired of tears on my pillow on the floor at night.. realizing the shame of ‘not being useable by GOD’. I hate my life, my poverty and …..only in the last year was I sick 2 times (no lost work though) but miracle healed each time.

… who would ever want a OLD US honorable veteran when he returns after 11 years abroad?.. zero..not christain business or secular or government.

…I have tried to ‘speak faith filled words’ from dozens of memorized verses…and I do hear the Holy Spirit when it comes to reaching out to someone.

But I can’t feed myself, clothed in rags, and … get the ‘reality’.

Yet all I have is to love GOD, to believe that what I can’t do, HE Can..that… even ‘old men with scars from beatings by foreign combatants…’… may have some ‘new life in CHRIST’ on earth?

if not…I really want to be gone… and ask GOD to please… flush me home or bring yourself glory by using me…but don’t let me live this ‘hell of death’ on earth…of being nothing and useless.

    • JustAGuy says:

Proverb 26:2 “As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.”

Did you sin against this person to cause them pain or hurt, intentionally or unintentionally? If so, repent to them and apologize for your words or actions. If you have not sinned, no repentance is needed.

In casting a spell, they have sinned against you, so forgiveness is needed on your part, whether or not they repent. Remember Jesus who forgave the unrepentant on the cross, and do likewise.

The power of forgiveness and repentance clears the air of sin, which would be the cause of the curse coming. If you wish to know what happens if you use a spell to break a spell ask a magician. God does not operate that way and strictly forbids it.

Your anger will only feed the sin. Eph. 4:26, “be angry and sin not. Let not the sun go down on your anger.” Your anger is probably driven by fear. Fear of what that spell could do to you and your family. Fear not. Fear is an open door to evil as well. Fear God and serve Him. Ask Him to protect you according to His Word, “His angels camp round about His people.” Remain in obedience to the One True God and He will deliver you from your enemies. The battle is the Lord’s. If you take it upon yourself, you have sinned grievously.

I hope this is helpful. It may provoke further comment and insight from others.

  8. Tropical_Guy says:

    1 John 1: 7:

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Do you know what this scripture is about? It is a letter written to the church where they have people participating that are gnostics. They arent saved, So the writer is telling them about sin because Gnostics did not believe in sin. So they not being saved could not have true fellowship with the other people in the fellowship who had recieved Christ.

Thats the whole issue with 1 Jn 1 He tells thm how to be saved in verse 9

    • Tropical_Guy, Your premise is false, and your application is DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS.

John says in the letter himself who he is writing to. He talks about three classes of Christians – little children, young men, and fathers (see 1 John 2:12-14).

1Jn 2:12 I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
1Jn 2:13 I write to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, Because you have known the Father.
1Jn 2:14 I have written to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one.

And writing to these people John said:

1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
1Jn 2:2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

The fact is, Christians DO at times sin, and for the sake of their relationship with God, they need to confess their sins and forsake them (see 1 John 1:7-9). John’s letter was to help the new believers to NOT SIN. If there was no chance they would or could, his letter would not have been necessary.

Do you make the claim that you never sin?

The last person I knew who taught the doctrine you are spouting is now firmly in the camp of Satan, living as he has for many years in adultery and drunkenness, having hurt and abused his Christian wife whom he divorced many years ago. While he was still professing to follow Christ I heard him teach exactly what you are saying here. Its scary.

      • Tropical_Guy says:

is everyone in your fellowship saved? Probably not is as the rule of thumb in most fellowships.

Dangerous why? If confession of sin by a believer were in actuality being taugh, then there would be many places in the New Covenant which would proclaim it. There is one in 1 Jn 1 9 and it, if you are intellectually honest would be seen t is telling the people there that could not fellowship, how they could. Your presumptions are that the bible is speaking only to the saved.

Were all the people that Jesus talking to saved? Get real a little bit.

Is John 3:16 speaking to the saved? Of course not.

I am sorry about your friend. But experiences in life are a very poor and inacceptable way to interpet scriptures.

I used to do what you do until I found out there is more than one covenant. One of them is dead. You have to mix a dead covenant with a Live covenant to make your “vision” work. The word speaks against mixing old wine skins with New Wine. That is what you are doing.

You will find scriptures that in order to form a ddoctrine, you need 2 or more. You are not finding these scriptures in the realm of the New Covenant. So you do not have a real doctrine that is true.

If you have kids, you love them right? If something was of the utmost importance in your relationshi[p with them, you would not just tell them once. You would make it clear, Just like telling them you love them.

God is even the greater father. He makes things very clear. Until Jesus Christ dies on that cross, Christianity does not even begin. It is only for the Jewish people and dealing with Jewish law.

The word is very clear on that. On the other side of the Cross you no longer see needs for annimal sacrifice. You do not see any curses broken over believers. You will not find one instance of that or a Christian having a demon. NOT ONE. There is a reason why. He took care of it.

Your concepts are just as mine were. Jesus plus something else. Yet the word says it is complete in Jesus. Your concept basically is saying what Jesus did was not enough. It is and was.

If God was a counter of sins on believers, every thought that is bad would disqualify you. There is no little sin, big sin thing. It says that a person is separated by God because of sin. One sin is all it took to begin with and now, if you buy into that, would again. S your salvation is a yo-yo. What kind of relationship is that?

Now I know I am forgiven. Paul said he could do all things. Not just some, but that not all things are profitable. We arent clled to be rule keepers. We are called to have a love relationship with God.

I am righteous not because of being a good man. Rather because of what Christ did. I suggest you read in Luke 5 the Prodigal son. He asks forgiveness. Does the father ever say he is forgiven? Does he ever say, ok its ok now but dont do that again because you know better?

No, he never even says he is forgiven. he says get a ring, get a robe and kill the fatted calf.

He was forgiven before he ever left. That is how God looks at us too. Your friend may be messed up. But I assure you God is loving him where he is. It is God’s goodness and Kindness that brings us to repentance. So yes, your friend can do all things. What he is doing is in no way possible. But, you are just as capable of doing what he is right now. Your law will not save you. Paul said to choose between the law and grace.

The word says the law causes people to sin.Good luck with that. I am waiting for you to show me one place where born again Christians have a demon cast out of them or a enerational curse broken over them. You wont find it. I guess God forgot?

        • warrior daughter says:

There are things in the spiritual realm that we just do not understand…My understanding was promoted when things happened to me that if someone else would have told me these events happened to them it would have been hard to fathom….God let the door be opened to just a crack to these things and it was not something that I wanted to stay in my life….When these occurances happened it was due to me disobeying God and it was part of my chastizement…..Yes, I was born again and a Christian for over 20 years but when God tells you not to do something and even asks what will you give for your soul and you still pursue it then it is rebellion and only for the grace of God with Him stepping into the situation, I would be married to a false prophet and ensnared into a situation that I could not get out of …

        • Tropical Guy, here is my understanding of this topic.

When we become born again, we do not automatically become perfected ie. Jesus like.
It takes discipline and huge amounts of Gods grace for us to be transformed into His likeness.
          It is a lifetime walk.

We are under a curse whethre it be the curse of sin or otherwise, ie generational, according to the amount of ground we give to satan.

I carrried on smoking dope for a while after I became a Christian.
Does that mean that I wasnt truely born again?

This is an old debate and I believe that whether or not you call it predestination or, once saved always saved, God knows His children and His children know Him.
It is about our relationship with our creator.

I believe that your approach to this debate is misled.
You would do well to seek the Lord regarding the truth about these matters.

          God bless

        • iv been reading your write ups, yeah i havent seen dat in the bible . buh sin allows all of that to come in, when u sin against God even as a born again christain i tell you ,you are prone to demon possession, satanic attacks, dis is because light and darkness cannot stay together. sin brings in darkness and takes away light. Anybody can sin against God. all i know is you can be a born again and have a demon inside of you and even a curse as a result of sin, faithlessness , foundational background etc.

  9. Tropical_Guy says:

an sdopted child that doesnt recognize their own surroundings. Every scripture has a place in the bible. It has a purpose and reason, but not every scripture is still apllicable. If it were you better go and get your annimal sacrifice.

That is what I find sad and interesting. People pick things out of an old defunct covenant and presume they apply today. The only obvious one they choose to not believe is the sacrifies because they know Jesus was sacrificed for us.

After that sacrifice on the cross you will not find any person that is born again having a curse over them in the scriptures. There is a reason for that. When you come into life at salvation in the new Covenant, all curses are broken. You are under blessing and not under any curse. None can come upon you. It is the same way with demons. The Holy Spirit is living in you. The demons trembled at Jesus name, and you think one can live where the Holy Spirit has taken up residence?

This curse stuff is totally unqualified. It has no scriptural basis in the New Covenant.

    • and many Christians are still living under that curse, although Christ has purchased their deliverance.

I presume you don’t teach that Christians can’t get sick. To maintain your position, you’d probably have to say that sickness is actually a blessing.

The effect of your teaching will be to get Christians who ARE UNDER THE CURSE because of disobedience to live in DENIAL and frustration.

Just as Christian Scientists deny that they are sick, so you would have Christians to deny that they have spiritual problems. It reminds me of the customer service at so many Indian call centres, where they say: “Sir, there is no problem”. Meanwhile, you are sitting there and your computer still won’t work.

    • i can tell, you must be really drunk!!
