How do I bring Truth?

Yesterday I did my final project in my (CIS 120)Computer Information Systems 120 class. The final exam was a Microsoft Office Power Point presentation on any topic of my choice. In my final exam I tried to give an “overview” of the Book of Revelation.
I have studied well on the matter for quite some time, point being that I tried to present the most accurate information about the book. I went through my first few slides having to discuss the where I was starting from, because people were looking at me as if they had no clue to even the most renown Bible prophecy… I mean who hasn’t heard the term Anti-Christ or the mark of the beast mentioned in the USA?
Perhaps I received strange looks, because I presented a couple of moments after a young woman presented on Islam. But whatever the reason was I was unable to make my presentation with brevity and ease. As if that was not bad enough, right after I mentioned the Two Witnesses I was told to skim through the rest of my presentation by the Professor supposedly for the “sake of letting others have time to make there presentations.
I admit I spent more time than I had to on my presentation’s opening slides, but I could discern that there was a sense of discomfort in the class. As I mentioned the Scriptures and what they said the Professor gave me a look of unbelief. It was as if the Professor couldn’t believe that I was standing before the class presenting what God’s Word said is to come. I also discerned from one of my classmates (who was fond of me) that she did not like what I presented. My presentation was not even complete and the room felt like someone wanted to retaliate against me for slapping their mother in the face.
All this leads me to say, how can someone be able to bring the truth to a people who are not willing to receive the truth? I am familiar with what is known as the Great Commission, but the truth is not what people love nor is it what they want to hear. I am aware that the Bible says that a time would come when people would take up their own teachers and not listen to the truth. Many people believe they already have the truth and many more will probably never (easily) accept what the truth is.
So if lies are all that is desired and the world is deceived who will be there to receive the truth. Please someone who is very sound in judgment tell me… What should I do with the truth when I can’t give it to the people who need it the most?

What do YOU think?

  1. Another thing is, when we witness, God is not always having us tell the people who will accept the Gospel.

  2. I know that it may be hard for some to understand when one believes that they may be giving what God wants His people to know and to understand. It will be the responsibility of the one reading said information to check and see what is said is true. Yes, this can be done. Most individuals who call themselves Christian are following tradition. They are following the footsteps of what their parents walked and will not leave that faith no matter what.

That is not to say what they believe may not be right, but it is to say they do need to study to show themselves worthy Christians. Some go to church and hear what is said and shake their head in agreement, never opening their Bible to see if what is said is true. This is very dangerous to them, especially in these latter days.

The Bible can be understood but it takes Gods Holy Spirit and continued studying and checking. Scriptures are like puzzles. You take a scripture here and one there and put them together you then can begin to see the revelation appear.

So I say, read, study and learn.

  3. it happened to me once. i also have done it in front of many people, more or less 50 people in my review class for nursing board exams. we had to lead a short devotional which includes a little scripture reading. it had only been 4 months after i was saved and God did a miracle. He made me do the impossible. i had stage frights before but God supplied me with courage and energy to go up to the front and preach His word.

after that, i felt so stoked, i could’ve jumped and shouted for joy but i didn’t, i just kept it to myself. then later i found out that my group of friends didn’t listen at all to the gospel that i shared. it hurt so bad, and i was so disappointed. i prepared that devotional the night before, and i didn’t get enough sleep for that because i prepared that especially for them. and they were acting like it never happened at all.

but like they said, you just sow, you have planted the seed, at least they won’t blame you in the future for not telling them. they have now the option whether they will believe it or not. we will not be ashamed because WE HAVE THE TRUTH and we did share it to them. God is working in their hearts. God is trying to say something to them. if they refused, like i did way before i got saved, GOD WILL MAKE A WAY like He did to me. before, I rejected Him, I refused to listen, I was exactly like one of those people in your class and He made a way for me to return to Him, and now, I’m growing more in love with Him everyday.

like you do, i also suffer persecutions. not just from my close friends but also from my family which makes me feel more terrible. but we have faith. we put our complete trust in God that He will make a way to those people’s hearts, as long as we do our part in sharing the gospel.

  4. Timothy Luke says:

There is always a receptive ear somewhere. It is not always evident who is receiving. There may be a couple of people who quietly were taking in your witness. University and academia are most notable hostile environments for the Gospel. That does not mean you don’t teach it there, it means they do need it the most – often times because they have rejected it the most. A man who needs a job the most is probably the same one who lost jobs due to lack of performance and discipline.

Another thing is, when we witness, God is not always having us tell the people who will accept the Gospel. Sometime our witness is given so that when they come to judgement, they cannot say “you didn’t tell me…”

You sowed the seed. Trust God with the increase.

To answer your question, “What should I do with the truth when I can’t give it to the people who need it the most?”

Sow the seed wherever you are. Do not be the judge of who needs it most. Recall the parable of the sower? The seed is scattered on ALL types of ground. Just sow. It is not always ours to know “who needs it most.” It is not who NEEDS it most, but who is SEEKING it most, that often wins the day. You gave a seeker or two an opportunity to come to you after class.

“Father, may your Word bring forth a harvest from this presentation, and do not let my brother be discouraged. In Jesus’ name. amen.”

    • from the wind says:

Just sow…I will remember and apply that. I will also hope and pray for God to send me where there are hearts and souls ready to receive the Truth. May God let you excel in your ministry brother.

      • Thanks for your teaching , Bro Tim

At the Evangelical prayer meeting which I attend , …the lady
preacher said ,…that we need to “sow money” ,……….
        money and not anything else.

It seemed the Prosperity Gospel all over again ,…….
and I felt I should stop going for the meetings ,…..

Could you enlighten us about what exactly the Lord wants us to sow ,
        and how ,……?

Does our reaping depend on what we sow.

Like if we dont sow money ,…..will be still be able to
        reap financial rewards ?

        • jesseedavis says:

If you sow as His child, it doesn’t matter what you sow. Your Father in heaven will bless you with many blessings, because you are His child, and it delights Him to see you in the abundant, vibrant life that He sent His Son to give you. However, it all goes back to very first part of all this “If you sow as His child…”

Another thing, “Freely ye have received, freely give.” It isn’t about you, ever. God delights in His Children being rich, full, blessed in every way imaginable, but He delights in a cheerful giver even more. When nothing belongs to you and everyone else is more important than yourself, whatever God gives you will flow through you to the other people around us, who need it most.

a cup of water, a good word, a smile, the love and compassion you were given, a tender word, a mournful shoulder, and lets not forget a prayer, for these are the best seeds I have ever sown? But all were done in him not of me so, I guess you could say he has been very busy. Also, we cant force them to believe, just as a wife is called a help meet, not a make meet. But we can Shine the way and pray they follow! Amen!

          you ask
“what exactly the Lord wants us to sow ,
          and how ,……?”

          Sow Good Works

          Jas 2:18
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

          you ask
“Does our reaping depend on what we sow.”

          Yes, it most definitely does!

          Gal 6:8
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

If all you ever sow is money, in order to reap financial gain, you are sowing to the flesh. In doing this you are only depending on your sowing which will bring a harvest. This does not show a trust in God, or Faith that God is your supplier.

          Php 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

          Mat 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

          GOD is OUR source!
          Php 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

          You ask
“Like if we dont sow money ,…..will be still be able to
          reap financial rewards ?”

          Mat 6:31-34
          31) Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
          32) (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
          33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
          34) Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
