God’s Dealings with Australia in Natural Disasters

"The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it." (Jer 18,7)

Since I live in Australia  – and have lived in a number of other countries with much better spiritual climates – I know how much repentance is needed here, especially of prayerlessness and our self-suficiency and self-reliance, trying to do it all on our own and ignore God. Independence from God is a big one. And there are many many other sins that are prevalent.

I have heard for example that they were about to bring a new law in Queensland to allow babies in mother's wombs to killed even in the 8th month of pregnancy, and it was due to be voted this January! Well, the floods came faster … I don't think this is a coincidence just as I don't think it is a coincidence with the fires that ravaged Victoria after the same law was brought in there.

Oh, when are we going to give up our: I am alright mate! attitude! I don't need God's direction in everything, I can lead a church by myself, I know how to build it, I know what programs to organise and the Holy Spirit can take a back seat and watch my wonderful achievements through my own ingenuosity and wisdom. I know how to run my life and I am doing a good job without needing to consult God all the time and neither do I need the others in the church, I am all-sufficient by myself… – these are some of the attitudes that quite a number of Christian have – of course, there is always a remnant who thinks and lives differently.

It reminds me of something Jesus described:

' Because you say: I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing' – and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and nake – I counsel you to buy gold refined in the fire, that you MAY BE RICH; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. AS MANY AS I LOVE, I REBUKE AND CHASTEN. THEREFORE, BE ZEALOUS AND REPENT." (Revelation 3:17-19)

As I last comment, God gave me a dream about Australia in January 2008 about a revival coming, but there will be also natural disasters and terrorist acts – you can read it on this website if you use the search box. He told me to pray for revival. I will be praying for Australia that it bows the knee to Jesus and self gets dethroned, starting from the churches, and then going to others. We need a major revival in the church itself at first. I hear reports from my own pastor, who is a well respected man, as well as others, of adultery, sex, alchohol abuse, drugs and partying and then coming to church as if nothing happened. This includes ministers in some cases. Drugs get sold to Christians, etc.

I also know about a pastor who committed adultery with the wife of a member, then did counselling with the man about his marriage problems – which the man sensed – and then took off with his wife to start a new life – and hit Toowoomba before the flood came…

How can we say things are good in Australia?? Even the fact that there is no consensus in what God is saying in the mist of this crisis shows that the state of the church is not very good, if we can't hear His voice on the matter – which I believe is because of the prayerlessness in the nation. I don't mean Australians don't pray at all – but there is not much sacrificial prayer, prayer and fasting meetings, all night vigils like it's so common in other nations. Prayer tends to not even be on the list of subjects discussed in major conferences in this country. I am not critical, I am just taking a realistic look at the situation of why we are in this state.

Have we forgotten the Scripture that says: WITHOUT HOLINESS NO MAN WILL SEE THE LORD" and

"NOT EVERYONE who says to me, "Lord, Lord" shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who DOES the will of My Father in heaven … depart from Me, you who PRACTICE lawlessness!" (Matthew 25:21 – 23)

It seems to me that we will be evaluated for entry to heaven by what we DO and PRACTICE, not just by believing that Jesus paid for our sins and saying sorry to God. He wants more than sorry, He wants our lives proving that we are sorry and we have turned from our sins by what we DO and PRACTICE. Salvation is free through the sacrifice of Jesus, but to appropriate it, you need to reconcile with God and remain reconciled. And then you need to WORK OUT your salvation with fear and trembling. Look at this verse:

'He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not BLOT OUT his name from the Book of Life." (Rev 3:5) As you can see, you can be in the Book of Life as a believer, and CAN be blotted out. And in case you want to know how Jesus determines this, it is written a few verses before:

'for I have not found your WORKS perfect before God." Jesus looks at your works to determine whether to keep you or blot you out of His Book of Life. In fact, all the seven churches in revelation are evaluated by their works in detail by Jesus, just read it for yourself!

Also, in case people do not believe God judges now in the New Testament, have a look at this verses written to CHURCH (not the world) in Thyatira, writing about a woman in the church, that called herself a prophetess, but was teaching sexual immorality and eating things sacrificed to the idols:

"I have given her TIME to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I WILL CAST HER into a sick bed, and those who commit adultery with her INTO GREAT TRIBULATION, unless they repent of their deeds. I WILL KILL HER CHILDREN with death, AND ALL THE CHURCHES SHALL KNOW THAT I AM HE WHO SEARCHES THE MINDS AND HEARTS." (Rev 2:21 – 23)

As you can see in this passage it says : "I WILL", not the devil. God sends judgement on the unrepentant, in this case in this life, not at the end of times. The reason for God doing this is that the churches should fear Him as it says at the end of the passage.

I felt to share this in case someone needs to correct their image of who God is in the New Testament, apart from being the loving and merciful God that He is. Let's worship a God not after our own imagination, but according to truth from the New Testament.

Let's repent and do works befitting repentance in this land and it may be God will have mercy on us. And if we refuse, He might just have to intensify His judgements, till we take notice. He does it out of a desperate love, to get us out of our lukewarmness and our backsliding, so we can be going to the right eternal destination, both those in church and those outside it.

Right after the NZ earthquake, I had a vision, not knowing it was Christchurch city that was hit – it is on this website, just do a search through the search box – and God showed me a gate that was wide opened by a big wind. Then He said: My church has opened the door to sin, I am opening the door to natural disasters" . I then went to the computer and realised it was Christchurch that was hit! I felt that word applied not only to NZ but to Australia also. I think time proved it right.

Even the Queensland State Premier, Mrs Anna Bligh – whose plane was struck directly by lightening as well and somehow still worked, though usually all power would be cut off and engines would stop working – seems to get a glimpse of God's message, since she said:

"it would be easy to think somebody up there has got a grudge against us". It seems that the world is starting to see this while some in the church are fighting to eradicate such thoughts that this might be a judgement from God.

I think pastors should tremble before God and get His mind before getting into the pulpits as they are VERY responsible before God in how they lead the people and what decisions they make for His flock. Humanistic leadership only goes that far.

Peter in the Bible told people that they have crucified the Lord! And instead of people being offended by such hard sayings, they were gripped to the heart and 3000 repented and got baptised in one day! These are much better results than what we get these days in our churches … something to think about … And if they get offended, so be it, Jesus let people go when they were ofended, He was not desperately trying to keep them all together so His ministry would look good and He would feel successful.

Also I feel that in Australia we need to let go of our fear of what people might think or say, give up being politically correct and actually tell people the truth, what they NEED to hear in order to be saved, instead of what would make them feel good, comforted and loved.

We are serving God first, not people. If people need to be made to grieve for their sins, if they feel uncomfortable for a while in order to get right with God, if they need to be made feel bad that they have offended and ignored God, if we will be hated for it, so be it!

It is LOVE to tell people what they NEED to hear to save them from hell, then to tell them nice sweet words that would make them feel good for now and lost forever. If your house was on fire, would you like me to come and scare you a bit with the reality that your house is burning and tell you to do uncomfortable things like break a window and jump down and other such unpleasant things so you can be saved or would you rather want me to say: I am so sorry this is happening to you, but somehow you will get through this and we are Queenslanders, we can rise up again as if nothing happened and we will all be safe.

I know that people are suffering now and we also need to show love and compassion, but we need to balance that with speaking the truth to them, or a worse thing might come upon them if they keep on sinning. I only hear people saying the sweet part and few saying this is a shaking, a wake up call and a judgement from God sent because of our sins, as a desperate measure from God's part to get people's attention before they slip away – as many are every day – into an eternity of hell fire and torment.

Today as I was looking at the news I began to weep uncontrolably a few times and I felt a deep grief coming from God's heart, churning inside Him, because He is very sad and grieved and pities the people that such a thing must come upon them, but He feels there is no other thing He can do, because He cares about their eternal souls more than about their natural comfort.

Since nice gentle calling did not work, He is forced to do what He really abhores, to punish in order to get the attention of the people. I really felt His heart churning inside Him hating that He has to do this, yet feeling like He has no choice, this is the best He can do with what people have given Him to work with.

And if you are still doubting that God judges, look at this:

I form the light and create darkness,
 I make peace and create calamity;
I, the LORD, do all these things.’(Isaiah 45:7)
